General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I am suddenly somewhat curious about the game but would like to know if its worth it before I buy it for the PC.

I liked it, but don't go expecting anything other than a big playground filled with things to smash and blow up.

I have it.

Unless you have a good quad-core, forget it. Even on a high-end dual core, knocking down large structures will bring your pc to it's knees (lolpcoptimization). While we're talking about geo-mod, the physics are terrible. Unless you're using explosives, demolishing any big building is a chore because you can cut out the entire first floor of a building, save a single 2x4 like beam (and this magic beam can be positioned anywhere)... and the damned thing won't collapse. Then when you DO knock down a structure, large pieces of it will often be left floating in the air.

Even with Geo-Mod being a finicky bitch, the most fun you'll have in the game will be when you're blowing things up. Fighting tons of respawning EDF soldiers or randomly getting shotgun-fucked by a group of jedi marauders while you go from mission to mission isn't fun, and neither is being forced to care about the unlikeable rebels.

I recommend renting it, because you'll get all of the fun to be had out of it in a few hours.

Ah shit, guess I can scrape that game of the list.

And gamers in the Netherlands can no longer rent games, apparently the game distributors felt it was to 'damaging' for their business if people could actually rent games instead of buying them, giving them a chance to see if they liked a game or not.

I wonder when they will ban libraries.

On a Q6600 @2.8 it performed quite poorly as well, I had framerates dropping from 40-50 to 20 for no reason even at a moderate resolution, and it drops even further when the buildings start collapsing. There are some pretty memorable moments, but overall it's not much better than the average mainstream fare. You're not missing out on much.

Right now I'm playing (attempting) Ultima VII through EA Replay on PSP, which I picked up on impulse for $5. The first five minutes already showed its influence on Bethesda's handiwork - dialogue keywords - check, one-hitted by rats - check. The font is absolutely atrocious and I have no idea how anything works (I don't suppose there are item descriptions or even damage values ingame?), but I'm hoping to get into it somehow.

I played RFG a while ago, but haven't gone back to it. The game could do with more optimization, like others have said. So right now I'm playing "study for the medical terminology test" until Risen is released.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. That is ricockulous.

I didn't even know that there are quad-core processors now. I kinda lost interest in hardware some time before GeForce was created.

From what I have heard, Oblivion was a failed attempt to create something like Ultima VII.

BTW - where did you meet rats in the first 5 minutes of Ultima VII?

There aren't any item descriptions - it wouldn't really fit a world simulator like Ultima VII. It's all WYSIWYG. IIRC that there's a book with damage values of weapons in it somewhere in game, though.

You can use items by double clicking on them.

Fninished Crackdown...it wasn't that bad. it was kinda fun...i would give it a 7 out of 10.

Started playing Kameo today...gotta stick with the cheap and old games until i have some money next mounth.

Still playing Dungeons and Dragons Online:Eberron Unlimited. I have a level 7 dual-wield Ranger and level 1 Cleric.

The game is fun, to be honest.

It was down the ladder in the house labeled 'provisions'. Go near the barrels and the rats spawn.

I was replaying Battletoads and remembering how much I forgot until....
I broke my buddy's Generation Nex machine. I pulled the game out and the pin connector broke and folded inside the machine. I gotta replace it but I'm going to get that guy something better that doesn't fuckin die after less than a years use. Like my old Nintendo. I had that bugger for 20 years before it finally died. Maybe get him a top loader. Since I got some good tender from working I can finally afford stupid shit again. :D

I can't find such place in Trinsic. Maybe it's the old Nintendo version, not the PC one?

***

I'm playing Alien Assault - former Space Hulk - it's a nice TB tactical game. Now I'm trying to complete a training mission - for some weird reason someone thought that having two soldiers fighting multiple swarms of aliens is a great idea :| ...
Brutal :) .

Yep.

There's a masterfully ported version of Ultima 7 available on the PSP (Homebrew), and then there's the crappy SNES version that EA is selling in the replay pack.

Finished Batman: Arkham Asylum, and had a blast.
It was good.

Now i am twiddling my thumbs as i wait for Risen to Arrive.

Finally beat my KOTOR dark side playthrough, after getting distracted by RE5 and postponing it. Now I'm giving the Machinarium demo a try, but I don't think this'll last long (being a demo and all).

Has anyone here played Risen? I'm looking for a few opinions on it before I get it.
