General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

X-Com 3 with my X-Com3 Revisited mod. Damn, I'm starting to lose whole assault teams during battles XD .
I'm trying to play RT only.
I think that making this game TB/RT_WP was a big error.
Both modes aren't really good - RT_WP gives the player too much control and the game doesn't seem to be optimised towards TB - it suffers from a poor AI and very long enemy turns.

On the other hand, pure RT would need a much more autonomous AI - more like in Close Combat series.

Also, Operation Flashpoint - I'm attacking defenceless villages with various aircraft types :D .
B-52, A-26 Invader, Bronco, Skyraider, Mi-24, etc. :D .

Now back to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri plus expansion Alien Crossfire. Playing the Nautilus pirates for world dominance, after a recent victory with the Peacekeepers, in which they merged with Planet and ascended to godhood, in a way. Great game.

Got my copy of Demon's Souls yesterday and while expecting not much of it, I was blown away. The atmosphere is good, the fighting mechanics (what I got ahold of in the short time I played) feels well refined.
At first I was a bit upset, that you can't seem to strafe, but didn't miss it, once I found out about the lock-on feature.

One of the most interesting things so far is the "online-mode" where you can place messages for other people and see the bloodstains where other players died.

Brutally hard, but highly recommended title!

Been trying to play Ultima VII on Exult. Being the graphics whore that I am, couldn't get into it after watching it run at 4FPS...

...Anyone know of any shooters or mods for shooters that play like All Ghillied Up all the way through?

Sniper Elite comes to mind, though with a WW2 setting.

Yup, I'm currently playing Demon's Souls as well, and I'm enjoying it very much. Really well done (although the voice acting is kind of meh), and yes difficult.

I can't seem to get onto the online part, always gives me an error. Probably too many people logged on. Its probably better this way at the moment; don't need some other player popping up in my game and killing me.

Replaying The Darkness.
Damn, one of the best FPS games i have ever played.
Great Story, Great Atmosphere, Wonderful Graphics!
The only thing that could have been better is the gun play but even that is still okay.
Haven't played Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena yet but i would have love it if Starbreeze would have put their efforts on another The Darkness game. I have heard that there will be a sequel to the game but starbreeze isn't going to be envolved in it.
Now playing the game somehow makes me sad.

EDIT: this is serge 13 here btw, changed my nickname to Astiaks.

Bought the Borderlands steam 4-pack ($33.75 each, not bad) with friends; so now we're playing Atlantica Online (Amazingly-fun free MMO... with turn-based combat) until the 26th.

The Darkness was cool, everything looked nice and the combat was interesting with the different Darkness manifestations, I preferred the arm myself, can't beat impaling some thug then whipping him into a wall headfirst.

Dark Athena is really good, more overall action and more combat oriented. Honestly I'd say that Butcher Bay was more fun though, the time you had with a bit of freedom to walk around the prison and interact was neat, but hey, buy Assault On Dark Athena and you'll get both.

That's EXACTLY what i love about The Darkness, this little freedom you have to go around in subways and interact with people and do side quests and find collectables! I haven't play Dark Athena or Escape From Butcher Bay yet but i guess i will get my hands on Dark Athena as soon as i can.

Most definetly do so then, plenty of little things like that to do in Butcher Bay, whether it's participating in the prison's little fight ring, killing members of certain gangs, little collectable jobs, it's all pretty neat and adds a good amount of time onto the game just roaming and earning things.

Played Brütal Legend demo earlier. Damn, it's fun....and also funny. I will definitly give it a try once it's a bit cheaper.

I am playing Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I like this over most Zelda games just based on the mechanic of three days and such. It also seems to me as it's told alot like a picture book. Plus it tells the story of what the hell Link was up to during a small period of time during that seven years away from Hyrule. The only one I like more is Link to the past. Windwaker came close.

I just beat Brutal Legend.

It's got a good ending, but it's not as great as it could be.

The fact that I wasn't expecting the game to end when it did might have played some role in that.

Playing Machinarium (although I can't see myself finishing it). The fact that you can permanently break certain puzzles when trying to figure them out (and having to pray you've got an earlier save to fall back on) really isn't something you'd expect from a game like this, nor is it the least bit fun.

I hear the combat is very RTS, any truth in that?

I hope you know you need to play Escape From Butcher Bay first and only then Dark Athena?

And I envy all you bastards who get to play Brutal Legend. Fuck, it hurts.

I also got that game just recently and also finished it, I really liked the atmosphere in the game with all the Heavy Metal fantasy, but like General said, the ending is rather quick.

I sort of expected a bit more, a region of the demons themselves.

Regarding UnidentifiedFlyingTard's question, not exactly, there are both regular 3rd Person Combat scenes (sort of like GOW) and RTS like segments in which you command multiple forces but in which you can also fight alongside.
