General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I've only played BF3 and a little bit of L4D2 in the past weekl. I haven't been (or wanted to be) home long enough to commit myself to a story games. But I want to get back into NV and DoW during winter break, when I'm done with all these papers and finals.

Just finished LOTR: War in the North, very entertaining (a bit repetitive and has serious non-canon bullshit, but still entertaining)

Now playing Assassin's Creed Revelations. Some things are getting old about it (as in "it's time for a real sequel"), but Ezio himself is awesome, as always; playing as Altair again is also a welcome addition.

Oh, I'm in another Fallout 2 RP run again. It's been two years since I last played, and now I'm testing a rebalance micro-mod of my own; I just changed some values in the item editor. Example: AK-112 assault rifle was 8-16 damage, burst 8 bullets for a total 64-128 damage. Now it's 16-32 damage, burst 4 bullets for a total... 64-128 damage, too. Want to spray bullets? Go SMG/big guns, my AR's are about precision and crowd control

I said that because it's a chain of events that takes place on 3 different planets and you unravel the so called "mystery" the further you progress.

I got that, but it just doesn't feel mysterious enough for me to call it fallouty. Or just because the end is simply so anticlimactic. Can't tell for sure.

Playing this game my brother linked to me called Fate of the World. It's very good so far, really makes me think about the environment.

Half Life 2 was the last "new" proper PC game I've played...way back in 2004. I can't help feel that I'm living in the past...
Speaking of "new" games, Doom 3 is the shit. \m/

The last good PC game I played was 'Sam & Max Hit the Road', followed closely by 'Sam & Max Save the World'. :D

You haven't liked a PC game that came out in FIVE YEARS??

Hmmm...

*thinks furiously*

No.

But jokes aside: I haven't had a decent gaming rig for the past 3 years and I don't enjoy playing games on my laptop with 15 fps while the fan is screaming like all hell is broken loose. So I am kind of limited to the PS3 nowdays. There have been some good PC games (e.g., The Witcher 2, Hard Reset...) but I simply refuse to play any of these fancy games on my laptop and I don't have teh moniez for a proper gaming rig.

AND THE TRUTH COMES OUT!

:p

Shogun 2 Total War with the latest S2Realism+ mod. It's a nice change from vanilla. Added the latest DLC for $1.59 that adds blood, decapitations and limb severing. Fun watching my samurai chop down peasants and cover themselves in their lower class blood.

Ahhh Planescape! I never got far but I really need to try try again. Whenever I leave the mortuary and go into town some thugs come and send me right back to the slab. I guess I need a guide but what fun is that??? What a great game though, the best graphics in the world still don't hold a candle to some of those wall of text descriptions about certain areas. (the house that has the names of all the dead people written on the walls comes to mind)

From what I've heard, if you approach this game the same way you approach other RPG's you will be in for some tedious trip. You should either start as a mage or a fighter, anything else will be a pain in the arse(for the first playthrough at least).

It's one enjoyable piece of quote, I agree.

Right now im playing Tekken 2. Lei is the shit !

well there more or less is only mage, fighter and thief.

Thing is many quests can be solved in a way which are only satisfying if you have high intelligence and/or wisdom. naturally the traits of "mages". hence why many say mages have the best experience with Planescape. You can easily get a rather "strange" ending in PT if you have low stats in those areas. But I think it is interesting that you can avoid combat with the end boss all together if your wisdom is really high. But I don't want to spoiler it. Writing is pretty good in PT. I would say nothing that we have today can beat it.

But that is actually one of the issues as well if you ask me. Even if I like the game I just cant get my self to play it again any time soon. The combat felt always rather boring and not very intuitive. I think they really made the worst of the D&D licence here. Because it is DnD "light". But maybe I am to biased because I enjoyed Baldurs Gate quite much - despite what Killus says it is a great game!

Right now I am re-beating Persona 4 I am gonna see If I can get all the 24 Social Links in one run, and trying to beat SMT Digital Devil Saga 2, I don't know I am not feeling this game, the first DDS was my least favorite SMT, and this one is just...eh. I may go back to replay Nocturne, probably get a different Ending than last time.
