General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Just finished Metal Gear Solid 2, man what an epic game! I liked the whole conspiracy and philosophical theme of the game, it truly was a mind0fuck near the end talking to the A.I on the Codec.

Just started Trine. This game is so fucking gorgeous, it's like looking through the eyes of Chong at his highest.

The Trine games are awesome, yeah. The second has more varied combat and a better endgame, but both run on the same simple puzzle principles. Mostly, though, it's just gorgeous to look at.

Gorgeous to listen to as well, got the soundtracks.

Playing The Secret World. Darn zombies, elder gods, evil corporations and other misc horrors from beyond our dimension trying to do nasty things.

How is it? I thought about trying it.

I just started Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. I played this game when it first came out, and loved it. Simon Templeman is the main voice actor, and it just fantastic, the lines and the way he speaks them is so impressive.

Now for those who haven't seen the game, well Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is -

Code:
Gameplay

Blood Omen is a two-dimensional action-adventure game. The game camera is fixed in a bird's eye view position and follows Kain as the character travels the world of Nosgoth. Gameplay is divided between outdoor exploration and visiting internal structures, including crypts, houses, castles, cathedrals and temples. The game screen constantly displays three features, being the sun gauge, and health and magic meters respectively. The sun gauge monitors the passage of time via the use of icons (e.g. sun and moon), with the screen also becoming lighter or darker to accurately reflect the time. Certain doors, or "Moon Gates", possess a "time trigger" and only open when a full moon occurs. A full moon briefly occurs once every two hours of real time. The health meter is a red blood vial that monitors Kain's current level of health. By finding small vials throughout the game it is possible to increase the size of the vial. The magic gauge is signified by a series of blue glyphs, and by finding additional glyphs the gauge increases in length.

During the course of the game, the character Kain acquires a variety of abilities, weapons, armor, magic and items. Kain acquires four additional forms, being "werewolf" (enhanced strength and speed), "bat" (instant travel to other locations such as Bat Beacons), "mist" (used to bypass solid objects and water) and "human peasant", later "nobleman" (to fool enemies and townspeople into talking to Kain). Weapons include an iron sword, a mace, twin battle axes (called "Havoc" and "Malice"), the Flame Sword and the Soul Reaver, with each having benefits and drawbacks (e.g. the use of the battleaxes prevents the use of magic and items, while use of the Soul Reaver drains the magic gauge). During the course of the game certain weapons are required to enable progression to new areas. Five different types of armor can be found, being iron, bone, chaos, flesh and wraith respectively. Each suit of armor has its own distinctive advantages.

Magic can be used as either a spell or an item, with several of each being hidden throughout the game. There are 13 spells in total, being practical (e.g. "Light"), offensive ("Lightning") and on occasion functional (e.g. "Mind Control"), being necessary to allow game progression. Throughout the game numerous colored orbs can found that will replenish the character's magic levels. There are also ten items in total, which can be found in hidden "Spirit Forges". Like spells, these vary in effect, and include both offensive (e.g. "Flay") and support (e.g. "Heart of Darkness") options. There are 100 "secrets" hidden in the game, which can be found when the character performs actions such as activating hidden switches, pressing buttons, entering Moon Gates or finding items such as Spirit Forges, but finding all of them won't change the ending(s).

IMO Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is a forgotten classic, as for the other games in the series, I don't know I never played them. But apparently the first sequel was pretty good.

It's a very good game, loving the graphics and yeah the VO is amazing. There are some annoying levels in it though.

I tried to play it again some weeks ago, but it didnt work on my new computer. :(

EDIT: Also, just found this and will buy if I find it. I enjoyed Desperados 1/2 already, I hope this one is similar.

It's on Steam and on sale so not too hard to find. Though looks like there are a few problems with the digital versions.

In response to TorontRayne TSW is surprisingly good, if you can get past the price.
Interesting combat mechanics with a leveless, classless system combined with an interesting story and great writing for an mmo make it stand out from the WoW crowd.
Investigation missions mix it up as well, having no waypoints or clues other than what you can find in the environment makes for a pretty old school experience, one that a lot of players aren't used to as claims they are bugged or broken or just too hard swamp the chat channels.

One thing I liked last night was hacking a doctor's password using his hint question and the games in-game web browser to search for who performed the Planets in a certain year.

I don't want to buy digital stuff on some DRM platform anyway, was talking about a hard copy. (found it already anyway) ;)

Another round with Mount and Blade Warband. Anybody else play this?

Very slow game, lots of patience required, but I like that. I also like the, almost treasurehunt-like "side activity" of collecting "peasant women" from freed prisoners, slowly converting them to my awesome army of female warriors. Didn't Gadaffi have something like that?

I did play M&B for a while, though I forget which edition it was. Fun game overall, but gets a tad repetitive after a while, especially since it's just sandbox w/o any real goals.

I know. It's one of the reasons why I keep restarting it, and making new characters all the time, because I try to give myself goals (ending up with many possible quests, instead of a specific storyline quest)

Playing "Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe" with various mods atm.
Fun free stuff with huge maps and lots of trains

Love me some TTD, can never make any money though.

Bus routes never seem to make cash, guess that's why I have to pay so much IRL to use mine.

So, I bought the Orange Box and I am playing Half Life 2.
And well, does this game get better later? I am feeling like I am barely even playing. I am only 1 hour in but I got really bored, I may go back later.

And into Civilization 5 now. Fun, I suppose...

Make sure to try Gods and Kings if you can. It makes the game a lot better.

Just checked it out on Wikipedia. Just going to quickly finish my walkthrough because it seems so much more fun with religion and spying now...
