General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Whelp completed Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Yeesh the ending, that ending, it not a good ending, no sir.
Shame really as the start to the middle of the game is great. The police station is a really good example of multiple choice ways to approach objectives. Then sorta peters out with less and less attention to detail to both the environment and story.
Expanded boss fights are a nice touch in the Director's Cut as is the removal of the orange haze that stopped me playing last try. Shame they didn't go some way to fix the monumentally stupid a.i as a silenced pistol plus laser sight is basically a game winner if you aren't going for a no kill run.
Also Belltower have nothing on MJ12. :V

Playing XCOM: Enemy Within now, the new map variety is almost worth the price of admission alone.

I beat the HR too.
I can't say its bad game but good game.
but I feel dissatisfaction from this game.
feels like there's not many freedom to do something but just freedom of knock(or) kill enemy. except fight, it's just following single road. not feel like real infiltration like Thief and not feel like role playing as agent like Alpha protocol.

I heard HR is upgraded version of AP but no.
as a RPG, AP is far better than HR. why? because I can't choose whom to alience with whom to be shuned and etc. and that acts affects lots of things and I can think what would be better way to choose with dossiers. but HR? stages are seperated each other and same for conversation and actions. maybe HR is better shooter than AP but as RPG? I choose AP.

and as shooter, I don't think HR is great.
maybe because I just knock almost every enemy with takedown and shockgun but for some events(like prologue, help helicopter to escape and final boss) I used guns and feel like it's too easy and not very fun.

but I enjoyed this game. and I really want sequel of this game. it has great potentials. even shooting isn't very fun, combat itself quite fun. it sounds strange but knocking all the enemy with takedown is quite fun to me.

I can't agree more.
that mission is really awesome for lots of point.

yup!. When I was playing through Detroit I thought I was playing a game just as good as the original, but the game suffered from cut content, like upper hengsha, and India. It just repeated the same environments, and Belltower's motiviation seemed a little vague. A sequel is still a day one purchase for me, though.

There's a sequel in the works so that's good. Belltower are a rather basic evil PMC expy which is a shame. Missing Link tried to make them more shades of grey and less two dimensional but it was too late considering every Belltower operative you met before and mostly during the dlc was an ass.
Apparently they are a really well respected company yet it is never once shown them being helpful or a member of the public liking them.

Grabbed Risk of Rain to sate my masochism. Ow.

yeah, the police station is definitely the highlight of the game and nothing comes closer to the original Deus Ex. I think overall HR was a really great game, even for it self.

But, and keep in mind this is complaining on a very high level! When I compare it with Deus Ex 1 then I think that as far as the story goes it isn't doing such a great job as prequel. I missed many of the characters I saw in Deus Ex 1 for example and some more back story. Deus Ex HR is giving you a lot of new stuff to toy around with but to me it felt more like a reboot of the Deus Ex franchise then a game that builds on Deus Ex 1, like how every other Deus Ex game will now continue with Human Revolution rather then expanding the Universe of Des Ex 1. And yeah, they also cut quite some content out of the game, I guess because of time issues.

And I think they should have tied the ending better in to the game, it literally was "Jenson, push button A for this, B for that, and C for fun" thats like an insult since pretty much everything else felt hand crafted and well done ... and then you get to this part of the game, a boss battle, walk down corridor, chose your button to end the game!

Spoilerings, dive, dive, dive.
[spoiler:3c51723c2e]Technically it's not an ending, it's Jensen explaining the choice he took. You see no outcome due to his actions rendering the ending kinda pointless apart from some pseudo ethics depending on how many dudes you twatted.
Also those "cyber zombies", real scary endgame enemies considering they barely attack, can't jump over barricades and can be easily stunned at your leisure.[/spoiler:3c51723c2e]

Still pootling along in XCOM as well, gone all gangsta with fedoras for everyone.

OMG!!!! I found spiritual succesor of legendary Cheetahman!!!!!!!!!

http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/181464

anyway currently playing Morrowind and Thief Deadly shadow. playing Morrowind if I want to watch some TV show or animation if not, playing TD.
I beat all the things of Morrowind except for Bloodmoon.
both are awesome game. I'm really happy to own these two game at steam.

Blackguards - Chapter 1, very fun, still beta but not so much RPG as tactical, nice graphics, friendly devs on Steam.

Age of Decadence - A game I was looking forward to, demo play is not so good, GUI kinda meh, looks like fallout, namechecks fallout, is not fallout :(

Plus the dev on the steam boards is a douche, seems to think having mystery stats and RNG silliness makes for a "hardcore" game. Def not picking this up on release unless major changes happen.

I find Enemy Within to be (even) more brutal than the original. MEC troopers aren't that good unless you equip the Kinetic Strike (try it on Muton Berserkers by the way. Never. Gets. Old.), gene mods aren't that powerful, and medals are mostly cosmetic. On the other hand, Mectoids are fucking brutal, and once you get Elite versions of EXALT these fuckers will happily destroy your cover with rocket launchers while gunning you down with snipers. And [spoiler:6a5cf1dd5b] the base defense mission will come out of nowhere and will make you lose people. [/spoiler:6a5cf1dd5b]

Not that I'm complaining, I'm having loads of fun. The game even lasts longer, which is great. But there's no way in hell I'm even trying this on Ironman.

I already heard that AoD is quite bad from kind of RPG forum in my country and this sounds like developers didn't fixed game well..

Dev is not willing to dumb down the game for me = dev is douche.

This is what skyrim, oblivion with guns and mass defect have done to people.

Edit: double post. Mods please remove my first post. Thanks!

Just beat the Dishonored.
I though it was kind of spiritual successor of Thief but no, it's spiritual successor to Deus ex.
I think Dishonored is truly upgraded version of Deus ex(but for plot.... I don't know.) while HR is kind of lightened version of Deus ex.
but that doesn't mean Dishonored is better than HR, HR did better job on character, plot and atmosphere of communications. but for stage, super power ability and stealth, I think Dishonored did better job than Deus ex.

I am right now playing Ace Attorney 5. Just started the third case.

The seires has gone a long way, from having to remove animations from certain characters for memeory limitations on the gba and using staff for te vocies to having what could be the best graphics of any 3DS game right now.

Seriously, my opinion is my opinion, it's not gonna change for having you insult me, so why even bother posting it. Guessing you work for them, or you've been following the game for the 10 years or so it's been in development.

I actually liked parts of Skyrim, it was some nice eye-candy and until you got to mid-game and became overpowered, there were a lot of fun moments. Did the writing suck, was it imba, were dragons speedbump roadkills? Yes. Yes. and Yes. But I still had more fun wandering around lost in the forest, chased by bandits as a lowbie in Skyrim than I did in four demo playthroughs of AoD: The "talky" path is just a series of text boxes with skill checks, you either have 5/4 in persuade/streetwise or you fail, there's not much middle ground except skip the content or fight it out. And once you figure out which skills to load up, the game is a breeze/snooze, you just walk up to 10 people, converse, "win" the demo, leave town.

If you go combat it's a sick joke, at the players expense. Bums and thugs beat the crap out of even a well-levelled character (which it will take you dozens of restarts to figure out), they all have friends, you never do, and can never get any for anything but the scripted combat missions.

There's a mercs guild, but you can never hire any. There's an assassin guild, but you can never hire any. Etc...

Sure if you want a RNG/reload game the combat will be enjoyable for you, it'll take you 2 hours to play through the demo, while a talky character will finish in 10 minutes. That sort of disjointed/imba gameplay experience is just one of many reasons I dislike this game. There's a free demo though, so anyone can go check it out, they need not take either of our words.

The developer commentary really adds another layer to the game. It seemed HR's development was going up shit creek without a paddle. And yet they delivered a really good game.

They explain the ending as well. Originally, they wanted something like DX, but as development went on, they ran out of time, so it was either buttons or no endings at all.

I'm probably late with this, but I've tried out FTL: Faster Than Light. It's amazing! The no-save option makes up for some really difficult, but memorable walkthroughs.

Playing XCOM: enemy within on classic and seems like its worth the price, theres enough new content to justify buying it.

Game is definately way too easy on normal now due to the MEC:s. I had a challenge on normal when i played it back when Enemy unknown came out and now that i tried it, it seemed like a cakewalk, didnt lose a single guy during my try and i played until the first alien base assault mission. Or maybe im so experienced now that i need to play it on classic, i dunno. Seems like proper challenge on classic though so i recommend playing on it even if you found it too challenging before.

Also doing some games of Civ V brave new world and all the expansions with some friends, seems more like a full game now and much more enjoyable experience than the vanilla version i tried way back.

Got myself a dirt cheap copy of COH 2 but the campaing was kinda meh after the first mission so far so i'm not that deticated yet..

Also got myself Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and i will try it out soon when i got the needed mods etc.
