General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I've started to play Psychonauts, and must admit, it's awesome.

Let me know when you get to the last level. I loved Psychonauts to death, but the last level had me cursing it like crazy and I never finished as a result.

Wow, scout? My compliments. I pretty much am a free point to the opponent as a Scout. And I'm with you on sniper. That's where my most points come but it gets lonely sitting further back. If I ever get to playing again, I'll have to look for you.
it's mostly about harassment as a scout :p

and of course teamplay. you often sacrifice yourself to get the point or to get the cart moving a bit further.

you usually die before you reap the points for it, but you are a boon to your team.

I am playing the new C&Cs, Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Wars.

Tiberium Wars is probably the best game in the C&C series and is the best RTS in years (since Age of Empires 2, it is even better than SupCom), Red Alert 3 is mediocre (it has some very silly units!).

Heh I'm playing RA3 because of the silly units. TW got boring because of the tank spam but RA3 is still pretty fresh because, apart from some unbalanced units, spamming dosen't work very well (seriously, those Japanese battlecruisers are beastly when your playing Allies).
Also infantry are usefull unlike in TW where they all pretty much died after one shot and are only good for garrison.

A liked C&C 3 more because it has a more sophisticated economy (for example, you have too chose if you would eat the tiberium field or consume it slowly so it is consumed in a sustainable level), the graphics are much better, better story for the campaign and has the mammoth tank (the russian tank sucks in RD3).

Also, you are right that infantry is too weak, but I got the same impression from RD3. In all C&C games infantry's only use is for early attacks. We have the exception of zone troppers, with are very good against armor.

im currently playing hexen 2, but i got stuck in the first level. daaaaaamn

Do they got any good mods for Hexen 2? I remember playing the original when I was young. Damn good game it was.

Currently playing Escape Velocity (the original, run in a Mac Emulator), Baldur's gate 1&2, World of Goo and Star Trek: Bridge Commander.

Can't wait for Starcraft 2; a few shops here in Sweden have begun taking pre-orders, though with release date unknown...

All the half life games.

I don't know if you've played them before, but once you get to the end of Half Life 1 (and you'll know, it's the incredibly painfully frustrating part) just youtube the ending. Believe me, I'm saving you a lot of aggravation.

Ok now, it's not THAT bad. I've finished this game 3 times already (first time with keyboard/mouse, other times with gamepad after I got me one for Resident Evil 4, it's very playable on both), so it's certainly doable. Although I do agree that this game can test your patience in certain levels, but I also like the fact that it's not an easy game. First playthrough is the hardest one of course.

Replaying Diablo 2: LOD and am at lvl 44 with my Barbarian ...

I am actually looking forward to Diablo 3.

:)

Just picked up Call of Duty 4 for about ~1€, just have to wait till its patched and then I finally see whats all that fuzz about..

I actually never had a problem with the last boss. I might have had more patience back then though.

I only played the demo for the game, and it got my attention. Seems like you just awakened my interest in it again. Maybe I'll finally play the game, even if I generally suck at arcades like that.

Ahem... Currently playing: "Seinarukana: Spirit of Eternity Sword 2" by Xuse, second playthrough, hard mode. Official game site: http://www.xuse.co.jp/product/narukana/index.html One of the better RPGs I've played this year.

Currently playing "Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason" and I AM IMPRESSED. Played Dead Space before, and while it was a tense game, I wasn't really scared once. But this game is something different, awesome atmosphere. Reminds of Penumbra somewhat but overall it has it's own thing going.

I have a lot of patience, but after being hit by that green ball for something like ten consecutive times without making it anywhere close to his head, I decided to say screw it.

That "long jump" trick is extremely useful in avoiding the green teleporting ball, once you learn to time it right. Nothing really hard there.
