General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I have a lot of patience, but after being hit by that green ball for something like ten consecutive times without making it anywhere close to his head, I decided to say screw it.

That "long jump" trick is extremely useful in avoiding the green teleporting ball, once you learn to time it right. Nothing really hard there.

The issue is that the damn ball just loops around and gets you, regardless of where you are. And it was frustrating to have the boss use it as soon as I got back into the room.

^^^^^ The boss in Op For was much easier though. The weapons were better too.

As I recall it, there are some rocks or something like that in that area, and you can lead the ball to collide with them and it vaporizes. Correct me if I'm wrong though, it's been a while since I played it. But I do remember that once you get the hang of it, Nihilant can be killed very quickly. It was a very long fight on my first playthrough though until I figured it out.

I tried that first, it just goes through it.

Oh that's too bad.. I guess I don't really remember how I got rid of these balls then.. :) I do know for sure there is a way, and that it included long jumps.

Thankfully I completed two projects, so now I'm back to playing Prelude to Darkness. I recommend it to anyone that can tolerate frequent crashes (every 15-30 minutes), as that game is one of top 10 RPGs of all time on my list.

Just finished Monkey Island 2 for the first time.
Seriously, what the fuck was up with the ending?

Also, trying to play X-Com: UFO Defense, but my comp makes a weird high-pitched whining sound whenever it idles or when I play some older games and I'm seriously going insane from it.

I remember being utterly disappointed with the fourth wall breakage at the end of MI2 (back when none of you were even born etc.). It's still one of the best games ever made, though.

playing WoW again... I can only take it in small amounts these days but there's still a lot of fun to be had.

also playing Company of Heroes. great rts game.

Finished Planescape: Torment for the first time. I am so glad that I only discovered it in this era of gaming stagnation.

Looking forward to Red Faction: Guerilla and FEAR 2 this year for some stupid fun, and Operation Flashpoint 2 for a realism-based shooter. Maybe I'll try Warhammer Online if I can find someone willing to provide a trial key (already downloaded the 11GB client unmetered from my ISP... twice actually, it was corrupted the first time).

Jade Empire, way of the open palm hawt asian chick with mastery of leaping tiger style

Jade empire was a rental at best. It was way too short and quite shallow. I enjoyed it for a couple days though. Worth playing at least.

I was so disappointed with that game. I think I played it for 2-3 days max, then I gave up.

I was also dissapointed. It took me literally 10 hours to beat if I remember correct.

R6 Las Vegas 2, I thought sequels were meant to improve things? About the only improvement is there seems to be slightly less bloom. Perhaps if they concentrated on better ai and more tactical options rather than changing your appearance then this might of been a better game.

Ah they are making more R6 and Ghost Recon games, any one want to be how much dumber they'll get? Perhaps if they combined Vegas and GRAW2 (pc version) they might actually have something tactically satisfying.
