Holy shit, I thought all the people going on about isometric being archaic was exaggeration, but I've seen 27, count 'em, twenty fucking seven different comments out of around 150 on two different sites hosting the gameplay video bitching about it being isometric.

Edit: wow, I just watched both the cinematic trailer as well as the gameplay trailer... It seems to me that Diablo3 is well on its way. Dare I venture to guess that the release date for Star Craft 2 and Diablo 3 will be close to one another as they were so many years ago?

Were the above to be the case, I would find myself playing StarCraft and Diablo religiously as I did all those years ago... What a treat indeed. Blizzard seems to have outdone themselves with both games.

Interestingly, the community forums were up, until some noob caused a whole lot of trouble spamming "NOONE CARES ABOUT DIABLOS" ... I wasn't aware Diablo could be plural!

The news has brought something to mind. This whole time Bethesda was preaching bullshit about new generation gaming and what not.
Just look what Blizzard did; they delivered the same old school style game with a new face without destroying all the great things its fans loved about it. I think its funny how so many sites talk about how talented Bethesda is.

Another interesting feature of the Diablo 3 website is the Deckard Cain diary. You get to hear Deckard's account of the past and one could assume, events soon to unfold!

While the other game developers are pursuing for shiny graphic and claiming they know what they are doing, Blizzard shovel their face by sticking to the original game setting with minor improvement, knowing this will not alienate their original fan while able to introduce the game to more people.

Money can be made easily but Loyalty is hard to gain this day.

Now if only there's an Action-RPG with guns and demons and robots in it.... :ugly:

Diablo 3 keeps Isometric view

From the Q&A at the WWI in Paris.

"They didn't explore the idea of other camera views because of the isometric feel of Diablo."

I don't care if you like Diablo or hated it, just thought you'd get a kick out of the developers knowing part of what made a game successful.
 
I go to blizzard.com expecting to see more of the lich king's helmet and crap and what do I see? :twisted:

Gameplay looks fantastic. Respect to Blizzard for keeping everything important in tact. No worlds of diablo, no first person or close third person crap, and no WOW type graphics. I couldn't be more excited.

This makes Bethesda look particularly shitty.

Wow did Blizzard not get that memo that isometric point of view gaming is dead...they should have went with a first person action adventure game and leave out all of those silly RPG elements that just make games to complicated for people to play. I can see them losing a lot of money on this one.

I like what I saw in the gameplay vid, but it'll probably take 2+ years untill this game is released. The environments do look a lot less dark & grim though, but I don't really mind.
I've read new B.net will most likely require a subscription fee, as characters will be saved on a server to prevent cheating + blogging, armory and Steamlike features will be added, it has been rumoured to be 5 US $ for only D3, 20 for WoW, SC2 and D3.

A subscription fee however doesn't sound like Blizzard, screwing over customers like that.

Sweet salvation, it's finally coming. I've been waiting for this one for so long. Saw the gameplay and I'm ready to play now.

Nice info from the Q&A: Item drops are now the same for everybody on the level. So each person gets their own drops and there's no more fighting over it.

The footage looked great and the addition of physics makes the game look more exciting. Oooo man, I'm readddy.

We've already seen the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor. Now, we've got 6 slots free.

Classes automatically come in male/female flavor, so now name your favorites (or ones you want in D3)!
 
Cool stuff. While diablo was never one of my favorites, it's always been good for a few sweet demon chunking, potion guzzling play-throughs.

I remember downloading the 68 megabyte diablo 1 demo on my sweet 28.8 connection back in the day.... summer vacation, staying up all night playing Pool of Radiance waiting for the download to finish, and then slaying the butcher 15 times in a row! meheheh, thems was the days.
