I do think he's earnest, though immature. Take his temper tantrum over getting hit for stealing gameplay footage from another source. Or his review of Far Harbor, in which many of the things he enjoyed in it that were missing in the main game, are found in the much better NV [Skill checks, more ways to resolve things, better explanations, better fleshed-out factions, and so on,], but is quick to slog that game off. He's a lot like other fans that started off on Fallout 3, where they have these rose-tinted glasses about the game and what the series as a whole means. And then they try the earlier ones and/or NV, and even though they may enjoy them, greatly I might add, they still feel this misguided compulsion to defend the likes of 3 and 4. Never you mind that they enjoy having roleplaying and choices and good mechanics, but they'll defend Fallout 4 as it's the honor of their family. They take things a wee bit too personally.
All that said, he's admitted that the wasteland workstation DLC was a mistake, something players flat out do not want. His desire for better roleplaying and choices found in Far Harbor, may reveal a crack in his rose-tinted glasses. It'll be interesting if he eventually becomes fully disillusioned and turns into a critic of Bethesada and their games. That, or his viewers will get so turned off by him, his channel simply withers away.
