I know this is heresy, but I like Fallout 76

I made the mistake of Pre-Ordering FO76 (At least it wasn't the overpriced plastic helmet edition.), forced myself to play it until they added NPCs, mostly out of buyers remorse. Some of my friends had made the same mistake and we all actually ran through the main campaign pretty quickly and had a great time, but then after they all stopped playing out of a lack of content I tried doing it again solo, just to see what it was like, and made a realization: Moving furniture is fun with friends not because you're moving furniture, but because you're doing it WITH friends.

even if a kind retro action is taken to develop some kind of single player plotline

The ONLY existent 'plotline' (s) of any sort is/are essentially single-player as the multiplayer implementation during questlines is- like a lot of things in Faww-aaaht zebbiddy sticks, actually terrible. The person that is 'leader' does all the interactions while the people they play with twiddle their thumbs, and then, even when the multiplayer aspects (eg shared combat encounters...) do happen, the combat is horrible.

I played the entirety of flobadob slobadobbidy slobs as a solo or single player, the quest lines were uncompelling and utterly forgetful (I literally cannot recall any of what happened in a meaningful way). And now, after completing all there is to complete and finding myself at the proverbial shallow puddle that is already dried out; which constitutes the 'late game' or 'end game' content, the game just feels like a fidget toy, I pick it up to amuse my hands and turn my brain off while vaguely fallout-eque images are thrown into my eyeballs.

I might actually try to emulate this in the future and take some pics if it works. Taking pics is the most work I am doing. No more LP's for 5 upvotes.

honestly i've been having the same urge to play 76 myself, im giving FO4 a fair chance again because i have a feeling we ain't gonna get anything better than this in the years to come, so basically im getting used to the BethesdaSlop.

Lets go a bit further with the heresy.

I think that Fallout 76 is the best Fallout game the Bethesda has ever made.

Yeah, live-service-dopamine-casino and the tone and wibe are totally off for a proper "fallout game".

but still more fun that 3 and 4..

Unironically agree. It's stupid as fuck for trying to steal your money after stealing your money. Any live service model for a game should receive this flak. And the other silly design of Bethesda's Fallouts.
But they actually do a good bit of new shit with mutants and enemies in this game and Bethesda's love of never having civilization meaningfully find its roots fits perfect for a game that is in the mountains of West Virginia only 25 years after the bombs fall. Also, the mutations for player builds is a good idea and while probably not the most optimal or the most interesting they could be, is a good addition. In a similar vein, I hate that they insisted on still using Brotherhood of Steel and Super Mutants. I don't hate that they have an Enclave base here though because being this close to the nation's capital in a state like this that is largely ignored and remote would make a lot of sense.

It's weird that there's so many Skill Checks per Wastelands. Not just Charisma either.
