I think Nuka World and Far Harbor were quite good.

Why hate on spectacle? Why hate on fun?

I just have no respect for people who can't enjoy games.

They'd rather rip on them than admit they like shooting Raiders and Super Mutants.

Tsk tsk tsk.

:)

ADMIT IT! LIBERTY PRIME IS COOL!

Because spectacle is for when you don't have any substance. How is wanting something to be well written hating fun?

We do enjoy games. We just don't enjoy Fallout 4. The story is awful and the combat is inferior to an actual FPS.

Which is understandable because Fallout 4 took an awesome game in Fallout 3 and removed tons of what made it fun.

It was a giant swamp with a warmed over New Vegas rip off as it's plot.

I write novels for a living, enough that I live off the money. My first sold about 20,000 copies. These are about subjects considered to be beneath art form like superheroes and post-apocalypse stories. I write essays about the moral ambiguity, artistry of gaming, and the importance of it being treated seriously as an artform.

Basically, I considered spectacle and fun an important part of what makes the work art.

Art evokes emotion in the reviewer. Fallout 3 became art showing us the Capital Wasteland and the horrible effects of nuclear war. But it was fun because of the gameplay and to deny that is to deny part of the art. Shakespeare was a comedian, romances, and loved bloody gory spectacle for the masses which made him someone not too respected.

Enjoyable does not mean less artistic.

Then again, I worked in academia and know those who can't appreciate Tolkien because he's not "literature" do not deserve to have their opinions respected.
So, you're making a backspace on how you don't respect people who can't enjoy games? That's the vibe I'm getting from this.

I'm not even claiming enjoyable=not artistic. You're creating a fictional account of what I'm saying and refusing to acknowledge that I dislike spectacle due to how it takes focus away from substance.

Aren't you the guy who said that ribbing people is all in good fun? You said I shouldn't take offense at all the lowest common denominator and so on stuff.

No. You're thinking of someone else.

Also, you are in that category and are raising my doubts about the supposed quality of your work of your blog and book...

Based on your comments here, I have my doubts on your supposed ability as a writer.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was being offensive. I thought I was getting in the spirit of things. I personally have greatly enjoyed the debates and the discussion I've been having here.

Lively debate about a subject I love.

And you're welcome to your opinion about my books. I believe there's no objective quality about art. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When you bring up unresearched points and notions that can be shot down, the best thing to do is admit fault and try a different approach to it.

You've been ignoring a lot of points others are raising so don't use that excuse here.

I'm trying to keep up with the conversation. My apologies. I don't mean to ignore the points of others. I'm happy to discuss whatever people wants.

Albeit, I am most interested in talking about Nuka World and its Raiders.

You're better off on Reddit then if you want to talk about Nuka World. I'm sure you'll find the echo chamber there to be soothing.

If I wanted agreement, I wouldn't be arguing for my point, would I? I'd just leave. I enjoy healthy debate.
Now, that's the first reasonable point I've seen from you. Not that it fixes the logical fallacies you've been spouting as fact but it's something.

In any case, I apologize if I've offended you. I've very much enjoyed your posts and your points even if I don't always agree with them. I also feel awful I confused you with another poster. I shouldn't have said I can't respect those who haven't fun because that doesn't represent my opinions but was me attempting to use more loaded language given all the "go hang yourself" and "you're an idiot" posts here which I just took to be the language of the forum.

Please forgive me.

As for my logical bits, I am glad to withdraw any mistakes I have made as points and correct my opinions.

For me, Nuka World:
Pros - nice AK-like rifle.
Cons - even more lore-raping stuff (no, don't tell me they're retcon™) and pathetic story.

I've probably been satisfied enough with my childhood memory with theme parks, so I don't find Nuka World itself anything exciting or fun™. Guess there are lots of good reasons why it only scores 51% on Steam, even lower than the non-open world Automatron.

I gave him a chance. He isn't worth it. I see your posts and I can tell who you're writing to, hang in there.

it's ironic, my next message after he blocked me was how much I enjoyed his review of Fallout 4.

But hey, if he doesn't want to talk, I understand.

The fact that I have seen his blog (it was linked via TV Tropes) and that some of the points there made sense makes me wonder what happened to change him into such a shill.

There's so much mental retardation lurking at NoMuTaNTsALlOWeD that it is turning me into an autistic minded down syndrome looking boy.

I feel like I came on too strong because Fallout 4 isn't a game I loved, just liked and that was because warmed over Fallout is still better than 90% of other games.

Fallout 3 got me through some bad times in my life and was a game I played for hundreds upon hundreds of hours.

I also felt inspired by it and its vision of a Post-Apocalypse Washington D.C.

I don't think anything in Fallout 4 lives up to it save Nuka World and Far Harbor.
