Throgrimm was popping off quick double taps at the creatures heads slowing them and killing one. Miles aligned his carbines sights on the next target and caressed the trigger letting three rounds fly into the lizards chest, forcing it to the ground but it kept coming.

Scorp had gathered himself after his brush with the fire and quickly took the lizards face off with a burst from his SAW. As the carcasses cooled in the desert sand Miles looked around pausing to reload the magazine with a few of his loose rounds. Suddenly the radio call from arco crackled from the radio strapped into his vest, looking at Scorp Miles shrugged

Fenix, Rosco and Kahgan were steadily heading south down the coast when they heard a shout behind them. Rosco was growling fiercely and his hair was on end. Fenix hefted his laser pistol in his good hand and pointed it towards the unknown figure.

"State your reason for being here or die."

Fenix had the Laser pistol aimed at Gregs head.
"I'm....I'm Greg, I was sent by your commander in the main group to come scout with you guys."
"Hmm....And what if we don't believe you?" Fenix asked.
"You might wanna check that on your radio brfore you shoot me." Greg answered.
Kahgan sat by the radio for a couple of minutes and said:"He's with us."

Jack, Arco, and Tenal Ka had reached the site of coordinates that rob had sent them. There was nothing here but barren wastes. Arco scanned the land as the falling sun began to hit the horizon. He spotted nothing more than a large wall of rock near by. Perhaps they were there thought Arco. As they moved towards the cliffs Arco spotted a body. It was Nicolas. He had multiple gunshot wound including one to the head.

” Ka, take care of the body. Jack, you go check those rocks.”
Arco himself went over to check out a small steel box that was sticking out of the ground. It was a bout 7 feet high and 2 feet wide and deep. Roughly the size of a modern day phone booth. Arco walked around the box to find Rob passed out in what appeared to be an entrance. Rob once he was awoken, he grasped out to the Captain in a hysterical frenzy. Arco really could not understand what the hell he was saying and he finally just picked him up and slammed his back into the phone booth like box in a rag doll manner to claim him down. Rob’s speech was still sketchy but Arco did manage to understand what had happen. Apparently Harper and Nicolas had just begun shooting at each other for no reason. He really didn’t understand why Rob had passed out but it was not of concern at the time. Still after this, Arco still wasn’t sure what had happened.

Jack was checking through the various rocks and debris that had collected to the west of the black box. As he walked, he stumbled over something and when he looked down to see what it was, he saw Harper Laying half dead.

“Captian, I think you better look at this.”

Arco made his way over to Jack.

“What is it grunt?”

Jack pointed down to Harper who seemed to be dazed in a sort of stupor. He was just starring at the sky with a blank expression on his face.

“Ka, Jack, grab Harper, we are taking him down with us.”

Arco radioed the rest of the group to join them at their present coordinates. He believed that they had found site 4256. Rob and Arco led the way through the initial entrance and down a short stairwell to the main door of the facility that was now dormant. The door had a large metal computer mainframe stuck at its base. This had kept the door partly open all these years and would allow entrance to the site itself.

As Rob, Arco, Jack and Tenal Ka entered the central room they could see nothing beyond what the light that shone from the top entrance would reveal and that light was quickly fading as the sun hid itself behind the horizon. From what they could see the room was filed various electronic devices and large filing cabinets filed with paper. Beyond that there was darkness.

Arco and Rob set to checking the safety and lay out of the structure. They found from a computer file that they were able to upload from an old diskette into Jack’s pipboy that the only way to the lower floors of the facility was to find the access key to the central elevator. There was of course the issue of power up the elevator to make the 1500 ft journey to the lower levels and power to light this room once the fading sun was gone. Arco, Rob, and Jack squared away to find a way to make their goal while Tenal Ka worked on figuring out what was wrong with Harper.

Jack racked his brains for all of his compurer knowledge, which wasnt as much as other vault dwelllers as he was security not tech.
As his hands ran over the keys on the super computers in the base, the similar apperence to hsi home Vault begain to creep him out.
Squaring his Shouldsrs, Jack looked up from the computer certain that it was broken, and motioned to Arco and Tenel Ka that they were ready to move on.

Earlier that morning Fenix's group had recieved a radio transmit from Arco that told the location of the base they were scouting for. All day they had marched eastwards back inland to the site, and within an hour or so they would be there.................

The group searched the room further found only corrupt data discs, busted computers, and the back-up generator that had been partly disassembled. No one here was capable of fixing it, although Jack made a few valiant effects. The sun had faded and the night had over taken it all. Flares would light the way for now, but the whole group was somewhat edgy to be this place after the unexplained happenings outside. Arco, Jack, Tenal Ka, and Rob stood at the elevators and examined the wirings. It would be possible to power up the elevator by using another source in place of the back up generator. The only problem was that Arco could only think of one thing capable of generating that much power, a little cyborg dog.

Slowly Scorp got up after listening to the radiomessage.

"Fucking sick fire spitting geckos, what the fuck is next? Napalm shitting brahmin?" Scorp grunted as he kicked the corpse of the nearby gecko.

Scorp checked out his arms. Luckily only minor burns. It would itch like a bitch with flees but he'd cope with it. Thorgrimm and Miles regrouped on Scorp, both noticing the smell of burnt hair.

"The Arcos coordinates place it pretty far away, if we leave now and hurry, we'll barely make it before sundown." Thorgrimm said while looking at the map.

"Yeah, ok. Go ahead, I'll catch up with you in a minute."

Thorgrimm and Miles started walking as Scorp unzipped and pissed on the gecko.

"Aaaaah, much better." Scorp grinned as he zipped up and caught up with the group.

"Ow my head...."Rob rubbed his head as he looked around"this is some werid shit going on here*cough*"

Rob slowly walked around the room trying to find something that would turn on the power or help them but there was no such luck,it looks like they'll just have to wait for the rest of the scouting groups to get there.

The sun was starting to set and the small group had not yet reached the designated coordinates. However on their way they had encountered Frank and Lance, who had deserted out of boredom and greed. They were on the thick of the group, part of the masses, which meant little loot and boredom but extreme danger if there was action... On their way out they had 'acquired' some new equipment. Frank (the one sporting the shotgun) had now 4 frag and 2 plasma grenades hanging from his belt, while Lance (the one with the FN FAL) was busy playing around with his new toy, a ripper.

The second the two raiders heard that the small group were headed towards an old military base, their eyes started glinstering with greed and they volunteered to tag along. A military base was a goldmine for raiders, even if it had been raided before, you were always going to find something useful left over. Besides, they had lost their raidersquad, a small autonomous recon squad would be just what the doctor prescribed.

The group now made haste towards the coordinates in, hope to reach the destination before sundown.

After the two raiders had joined the group Miles volunteered to walk point. A few hours after the encounter just as the light was fading they reached a small rise overlooking the coordinates Arco had specified. Pulling the binoculars out of his pack Miles scanned the area noticing the dead body and the opening nearby."I don't see anyone down there, they probably went inside lets head down and take a look" Miles looked up at Scorp and Thorgrimm. Standing and putting the binoculars away Miles let the way down the small hill.

Once they reached the opening Miles noticed the light bouncing off the walls and the voices ahead, holding a hand up he raised the carbine and advanced inside carefully. Rounding the corner to find a bunch of lit flares and Arco nearby..

Jack was poking into the corners, looking for anything hidden by the personel of the facility.
Back in the Vault, he had been quite good at finding misplaced equiptment that the kids in the Vault thought was fun to hide, such as peices of the nanny programed Mr Handy.
Suddenly, there was a slight noise.
Tenel Ka drew her .223 pistol and pointed it at the entrence and Arco drew his weapon as well.
Jack was still looking confused when Miles enterd.

Arco was glad to the see the new arrivials. they had thus far be unsucessful in reaching the second level of the site which was according to the discs they had found 1500 feet under ground.

Seeing ROSCO, Jack pluged in his PIPboy2000 and set to work, discovering how much power was needed, and how much ROSCO could produce.

A few minutes later Jack spoke up.

We can do this. ROSCO can power the elevator enough for four people to go down, and four to go up. I recomend using less though, to put less of a strain on him. I recomend myself, since I have literly a lifetime of experince in such an enviroment, Major Arco, and one other. We could have a fourth person, but that would limit any salvage unless some generator below was repaired.

"Well, I guess the weight issue rules me out..." Scorp said. Anybody would seem skinny standing next to Scorp. Putting Arco in the elevator with his powerarmor was already putting enough strain on the dog, no need to add a muscled giant with heavy weapons...

"I'll stand guard outside, to prevent any bad surprises. You coming Lance?" Thorgrimm asked. Both men went outside.

"Well Frank, I think that leaves us up here until you guys find a way to activate a generator. We'll loo-, euh, 'search' this level some more..." Scorp said as he slapped Frank on the back, the sheer force almost causing Frank to loose his balance. "What about you Miles? Got enough balls to volunteer to go down?"

thinking over the logistics, Tenel Ka spoke up.

"I shall also stay topside freind Jack, as I have little experince with prewar buildings such as this one.

Turning to Tenel Ka, Jack removed his backpack and begain emptying the contents from it.

"Ok, could you carry my stuff ? I'd like to be able to carry any salvage up from below."

"Certainly my freind."

That said, Jack set his .50 riffle down by her pack, and drew his colt .45 since such a weapon would be easier to use in cramped confines of a structure like he was likley to find.

"Damn straight I'm going down there. You think I'm going to let Arco here go down with the rookie?"Miles replied to Scorp. Looking at the shaft he shed the pack and removed a small piece of the explosives he carried and a light detonator slipping them into his vest and hip pockets."Hold onto this for me would ya"He tossed the pack to Scorp."And If i find any of my stuff missing I'll make sure your singing soprano"Miles grinned half jokingly.

Stepping closer to Scorp he leaned over"If i find anything we might need I'll do my best to secure it"With that said Miles stepped over to the elevator ready to descend into whatever awaited them. Hopefully they could get a generator working and have some backup.

Arco attempted to decipher the controls, but Jack shoo'd him aside and removed the cover from the pannel and quickly had the elevator moving down
"Security trick console, the top one doesnt do anything. Theres a small circit that you need to trip under it to act as a switch. Some of the doors back home had them."

Several minutes later, the elevator ground to a halt. They were there.

Once they reached the bottom, they had one thing to find the controls to the geothermal power plant and see if it is still operational. At least the back up power was on down here so the running lights on the walls could be some guide as to where they needed to go.

As they explored, Jack smelled something rancid coming from a bathroom.
Looking in, he saw a rotted skeleton in the worn remaints of a Marine uniform.
"Well, this base was staffed. I just found a body in the bathroom."
