On a slightly related note, apparently Herve intends to put the IPLY forums back up in December. I was aksed if I was going to resume my old duties as a SuperMod. Hmm... hmmm...

I hope the forums do go back up. Anyone willing to wager on how long every single registrant is IP banned for extreme flaming?
Are they reactivating the old forums or are they starting anew? Because I've been looking forward to reviewing some classic threads.

No clue. I soppose it's possible Herve still has the old DB but if his IT/Admin guy is as skilled as his new webmaster...

Does Herve sitting in darkened room, downloading images of shaved French poodles from some obscure newsgroup while drooling and stroking his . . . .

moustache, count as Interplay still existing?

Sorry for the double post, i thought there was something here before :s

This sort of comment is so incredibly stupid that it must hide something else... really Corith, no one can be that stupid, but instead i think you found what game Russ plays (whoever he is...)

Either I've been blocked from posting, or their system is down. perhaps he reads this board.

Rbusslinger . . .

Let me clear up a few facts for you.
It started out as just the unspent and accrued vacation money, which he has to pay with in an maximum of 72 hours of the my last date of employment. I tried time and time again to negotiate regarding this amount. I offered to take payments, to allow him more time should he need to, or even to pay only a portion of it. In each and ever case, the offers where rebuked by silence.

Even as late as 5 days before the court hearing, I contacted company employee, Dave Berman, and pleaded with him for us to reach a settlement before the court hearing.

Its been 18 months. During all this time the state has been accruing penalties and interest. And, it is no longer a matter of debate, since he stayed silent the State of California stepped in. Herve now HAS to pay the larger amount of over $17,000, by LAW. He could have paid as low as $2,000, but by refusing to deal with the issue in ANY manner, it has grown to considerable more.

The matter is now closed, as I have passed the assignment of judgment to the Franchise Tax board for collection.

Rbusslinger is one of two people that I consider to be the epitome of a moronic Interplay investor. They are the kind of moron Herve loves, and deserves, reality taking both out in a case of fiscal Darwinism.

I have already lost much more $ than corith1 is owed (without getting to follow my dreams). You will not find me bad mouthing Herve for my business decision. I am glad to see Herve remains positive about Interplay. Good to see the web site coming back. The Interplay brand is tarnished but not dead yet.

This is the business world.

And that is why both you and Herve suck balls in the business world. Thank you for taking the time to point out that no matter what kind of idiot fills in as a CEO, someone is even more unbelievably moronic to hand them money and then not even hold them accountable. Brilliant logic, and the old saying of "a fool and their money are soon parted" holds correct.

And the verdict this court finds on this Interplay investor is - guilty of criminal stupidity in the first degree. The sentence is self-removal from the gene pool, but considering not even Herve's wife wants to be with that moron, I think we're safe from little moronlings from this guy. He is stupid enough to hand a fool money, money he clearly did not deserve.

This Rbusslinger duder missed the point entirely, and I'm surprised none of you picked it up; all respect to you Corith, but Herves big mistake wasn't not paying you what he owed you, his biggest mistake was running IPLY into the ground in the first place with the PoS shitfest and other shady management shit.

Just my 0.2 Drachmas...

Correct. Had Herve not ran the company into the ground, it would still be there today, paying employees.

For those that don't know, his 4 major mistakes were;

1. Poor choices in which products to bring to market.

2. Letting the creative minds of black isle go.

3. Failure to put a product on store shelves for the 2003 xmas season.

4. Failure/inability to see the change in market trends of the game industry.

So, we have unwanted products and no creative minds in which to create new products along with no major revenue stream in which to hire new creative minds and when we do, the game buying public wants other than the types games we can or will create.

Brian Fargo Contacted me about trying to contact those remaining employees who are still owed money for back wages.

Send me a PM and forward you Brian's contact information (I'm not sure he would want his email address publicly posted).

Rosh, care to restate your opinion of me based on current events? After all, my goals have been achieved in regards to IPLY.

Holy hell, rbus, nice bump.

Rosh is banned, though, so he won't be able to reply to your post.

PS: wait, are you saying you've made a net profit on Interplay now? That'd be almost as impressive as Herve fending off bankruptcy for so long.

Yes, Kharn, many of us who were buying when the stock was low have done well. Imagine you bought 100,000 shares at .01. In the recent runup that $1000 investment sold at .25/share would have returned $25,000. Even at the current .17 it looks good. I'll probably never see a return on investment like that again. Of course we were called "fools" back then and "lucky" now. Goes to show, do your own thing and let people like Rosh deal with their own issues.

You mean people were buying stock in the hundreds of thousands? That sounds dubious.

Besides, I thought you and frymuchan had been around much longer, back before the stock fell all the way to .01

You were lucky, though. The risk was relatively small (really, what's a $1000 investment) and the man who manages Interplay still had managed to drive the biggest publisher in *the world* to near bankrupcy. To expect to make anything of the company is simply naive.
By the way, he still hasn't made anything of the company. The recent rise in stock prices is due *solely* to the fact that people like you are investing a has-been name, and the fact that Herve and co. got millions of free options on stock.

Also, in case you didn't know, Interplay still owes many of its employees money. This has been ordained by a judge, he has no way of squirming out of it. Do you still put any faith in him?

Call me what you like. I was right. The stock was a tremendous value at those lows and I was a buyer. And I risked a lot.

I would not categorize my position on IPLY as having faith in Herve. I just think there is (was) a play with the combination of the (once) biggest publisher in the world and well know intelectual property.

Whatever happened to the employees of BlackIsle...Ohh and if Van Buren was cancelled why cant we get what was done so we can add on to it :D
EDIT: ohh ya one last thing why does the black isle site still exist?

The former employees of BIS have sought their fortunes elsewhere, in the gaming industry or without.

Some of the produced Van Buren goods have been released through NMA, the design docs specifically, the others are vaulted up, BethSoft may have them, in any case they won't be released.

blackisle.com is just something interplay keeps registered. BIS isn't officially closed, last time I checked.

At least you can play online chess at their domain now. You know a company is good when they have links to online chess on their front page.
