Opening it at the original location also works for some reason. Dunno why it flips the picture on the forum.
The culprit is Exif metadata. Breaking that down to the basics: digital cameras used to only be able to save pictures in landscape orientation. To address this and save users the hassle of having to rotate horizontal pictures manually, they detect wether you're holding the camera horizontally and add an exif tag to the file that tells image software how to correctly display the picture. Today's cameras should be able to save an actual horizontal photo but the exif tag has become the standard.
The issue is that not all software does rotation correctly, apparently including XenForo. Your Browser itself does it right, which is why the photo is correctly rotated when you view it directly, circumventing the faulty image-displaying algorithms of this forum software. Looooots of websites still struggle with properly displaying exif rotation.

The only solution that results in these images being displayed properly everywhere is to rotate the actual pixels according to the exif tags and then remove the tags.
 
So a few weeks ago I got drunk and cut my hair.
