Jeff Gardiner on aliens

I used to care. Not anymore.
As far as I'm concerned, they could create a pokemon-esque DLC, and bankrupt on it :p

I wonder when are the terminator brahmins going to show up? Maybe a Vault Boy companion?

Its not like it hasn't been hinted before

Wanamingos?

Oh, come now - that would be an act of utter disregard for semi-canon.

The Fallout Bible is cool but it was never canon. It was always made clear that most of the stuff printed in there was just MCA's opinion/interpretation of what he saw.

None of that shit is canon although it does help to understand stuff that may not have been elaborated on.

Its official, Bethesda has now droped below neversoft for companies that just "don't get it"

Seriously, I can't really have such an issue with aliens, when I have a Samurai Armor to deal with.

I mean, aliens don't fit at all, whichever kind. The Wanamingos I liked, but they were strange freaks, which lived in a mine. They looked like creatures from outer space, but they were unintelligent so they couldn't have flown a spaceship. And they were awesome design-wise, and had brilliant animation (shooting one down with a .233 pistol gave me a chuckle every time.) Every other kind will be treated with the disdain and elitism they deserve.

But Samurai Armor . . . not only is it blatantly stupid, but it offers no protection whatsoever in a post-apoc world. It's pretty much as tough as chainmail armor, only heavier. So unless the aliens have sticks, stones, spears and swords it's just retarded. And if they do, it's even more retarded. The Samurai Armor is a lose-lose situation.

Samurai Armor would work in early Fallout 2. I sure wanted something better than leather while fighting people with spears. I think Samurai Armor actually worked a bit vs primitive gunpower weapons, but not much.

I like how they never have the balls to ask questions like "how do aliens fit in the retro-futuristic theme of Fallout?".
Or they don't give a shit.
Or they don't know the difference between ALIENS PEW PEW and Fallout's theme.
Or all of the above.

The alien menace--err, presence--has been hinted at throughout the history of Fallout.

Sooner or later, maybe they'll make a large colony of talking brahmin, some Star Trek redshirts and King Arthur, as well :(

Star Trek was my first thought after reading this news. And since Bethsda unfortunately has (in their 'bethesdian' way) some 'experience' with Star Trek then who knows... Star Trek seems quite possible here.

Have someone on Beth forums asked about it? And survived?

No one knows exactly what happens to those who ask questions. They get banned so hard they lose their internet connection.

It's scary how little of the originals they 'get'.
It feels like they had a bunch of autists play Fallout and Fallout 2, and based Fallout 3 on their descriptions.

Can't wait for the next DLC, Fallout 3: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz where you must kill the Wicked Witch of the West with laz0rs

Quite likely, actually, considering the Tin Man to be canon, the way Beth approaches stuff.

I'm about two hours into The Pitt, and so far I think I actually like it better than any other part of the game. The NPCs are a bit shallow (everyone tells me they're not interested, but interested in what?), but the design is fairly cohesive, which you can't really say for the Capital Wasteland, and there's some decent choices to be offered in the (albeit linear) quest progression. I like that there seems to be no right answer either.

I think that the DLC so far have been better than the actual game, in terms of plot and quest cohesion. Granted, I've only played The Pitt and OA, and OA was a pretty big waste of time, but at least it was shiny. I think the confines of a 3-4 hour gaming session is about their attention span; any longer than that and they start adding things in because they're so far from lucid, concious thought that the concept of theme and setting are absurdities.

Point Lookout to me looked like a deviation, but at least a thematically interesting, not completely implausible scenarion, but Mothership Zeta just looks like a high holy abomination, and so far off the mark in terms of what made the original games interesting. I think The Pitt was probably their highpoint, and even then, it's still a buggy and linear shooter rather than a true RPG with any depth.

But hey, look at dem shiny lazerz.

Well of course!
The Tin Man is and allways was a BoS soldier that got teleported thru time, space and sense!

The whole concept behind aliens going to observe the earth and decide if humans are a 'threat' to them (which we all know they will, what else would beth do), the absurdity in it is that if they have been supposedly visiting us throughout our history don't you think they would have taken a bit off a stronger stance when we were armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons and orbiting space weapons, rather than a burnt out wasteland where the most common thing you will encounter is a pistol wielding raider with more hair gel than most anime characters.

Maybe they just got bored with us and want to leave, but don't want another alien specie playing with their toys (with us, that is)?

Honestly, this DLC isn't worth half the time people spent on writing posts about it on NMA.

yes but its mainly I think about the argumente that Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 hinted to aliens (as only with random encounters) and thus its some kind of Canon when you actualy with this attitude could make EVERYTHING part of the game and canon you know you could encounter a Star Trek shuttle? Godzilas Foodstep? And other references to movies or similar things in the old games. Well Its clear that Bethesda doesnt even care an INCH about the Fallout setting but only as what they see as "cool". I mean they dont even stay true to their OWN 50s design (Pont lockout anyone?). I have also no doubts that this DLC will tourn Fallout 3 even more in the shooter it almost already is ...

So what is the next DLC? A fighting Godzilla ? Or do we maybe play a vault dveller in Fallout 4 beeing a student in the Star Fleet command ?

Imaghine the pure awesomnes of this horror ...

Turns out America wasn't nuked at all but the Chinese sent massive monsters to destroy downtown DC, possibly on loan from the Japanese.
The beauty of this idea is that it explains why there is very little nuke damage and craters. All the radiation was from the atomic breath.

Man I could so work for Beth. 8-)

ZOMG its becoming REALITY

(I hope nobody at Beth see this post. I don't want to be the responsible for Fallout 3: Nuclear Gundam Attacks!)
