Just cause its BETTER doesn't make NV perfect...

Wayne Newton sounds like he has throat cancer and Big Iron makes me want to commit real life homicide.
He probably does have throat cancer thanks to the smoking and all the botox in his face dripping into his esophagus.

Also, korindabar: you're her, and you're just as perfect as the day we first met.

The 'disappearing companions' is definitely the single most annoying/ game breaking bug in this game IMO.

It feels like after you left Goodsprings, every quest sends you straight through the whole gameworld. Quests in which you don't have to leave the actual location become very rare.

Big Iron is indeed the most grating song on the playlist, but in general the songs are good.

A lot of the casting was done for dubious reasons. Guys cast for geek-fantasy reasons (Matthew Perry, Felicia Day, Danny Trejo) or Vegas fanservice (Newton).

Newton is boring. Perry works out ok. Day is surprisingly good. Danny Trejo is just awful.

Why all the hate for Big Iron? It fits just fine with all the other songs, and doesn't seem to play any more often than any of the other songs either.

Dunno, I actually really liked how it fit the setting. Other songs were good too. Tho' I've never been the fan of the radio in Fallout 3, here, in New Vegas, it fits much better.

The Legion bothers me a bit. And it annoys me because I think they had a really interesting situation going on with the choice of factions in the game. I like how both NCR and House are done. But even though there is justification for the Legion's beliefs in the game, in the end it just feels like "the evil faction" at any rate.
I mean, even when you visit their main area in the game, it's got a sorta reddish, apocalyptic sky. The area looks great on its own, but yep... Over the top.

If they had just toned down just about everything with this faction, it'd been really interesting. As it is, it seems hard to justify going with them for any character that is not slightly insane.

But I think a huge saving grace is that the game still does allow you to work with them.

The Legion basically feels unfinished. It's like they got really excited about all the other factions that they forgot to work on them. I mean, they count as a "major faction", and you meet them about same time as NCR, and yet they have less quests and story written than your average "minor faction".

For those who remember them, perhaps Obsidian should have thrown in Hecate's Daughters and the Hounds of Hecate as a female counter to the male oriented Caesar's Legion.

They also hate the Legion so it might have led to an ending in which Hecate's forces went to war with Caesar's, preventing either from taking control of the Mojave.

Of course there would still be the difficulty of explaining how they came to be without the Nursery, unless the Nursery will be brought back.

One thing I hate from NV that was also in FO3 is the insight that you have on a town.

Sure, I'm on the town that the quest pointed out and I can ask about the people who crossed me, but why I can't ask people on that town just east of Goodsprings ( I don't remember the name, its a mining town) ?

Also, why the hell does the quests take you on a circular route? I hate having to walk so damn much, I wish I could take one of the bikes in front of Goodsprings Casino.

And I don't know about the rest of the game, so far I've been to Boulder City (lame), but the only annoying voice acting I found so far was at REPCONN.

Why the hell does the voice acting has to be that way? Why can't ghouls, nightkins and Mutants have normal voices like Marcus and Lou? The most stupid I saw so far was that scientist with the Ghoul voice, god is that annoying.
When I finished that quest I had a headache from so much walking and having to listen to them.

Oh, also, sorry about the last post, it sounded too much a rant.

Even though those things annoyed me, I can say that I'm far more satisfied with it than FO3 was.

Hell, I loved when I got into the NCR camp outside of Primm and heard the old Fallout music, brought good memories.

I'm sure that the point is to push some exploration along the way. Because of this route you get to see lots of other interesting atmosphere-setting places (the Dam, the irradiated south, Legion outposts etc.). In a way, it's a slow introduction to the entirety of the game world.

Although, the walking can get annoying, yes. I'm convinced that it's more of an issue with how FO3/NV work in general, and not specific game design.

Doesn't help that the Legion will obviously loose any of it's rather iffy good points if Caesar dies as well.
I did like the Bitter Springs fiasco but it was more of a cock up than intentional so it doesn't really compare to anything the Legion does. It might have helped if the NCR was portrayed as a bit more inept, I didn't really get the feeling that their hold on the area was tenuous.

Another bug I ran into late in the game is an inventory bug.

When I for example buy a second suit of armor to improve my current set or a grenade machine for the one I already have it does not appear in the inventory until I give the first set away to a companion or make it drop.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Personally I find the whole 'getting another' concept ridiculous, it could have been made better if you instead bought components or raw material to improve the degrading set you currently have.

Why would you even do that? Isn't it easier/cheaper to just go and repair items for money?

As for the 'bug', I had a similar thing happen but with companion inventories. I guess there's just something different about how the barter window handles multiple items vs regular inventory window.

I now know that Ausdoerrt, but at the time I was still accustomed to the 'Fallout 3' solution of repairing items.

I wish the shop keepers sold weapon and armor repair packages.

I just cannot repair my stuff at npcs. It feels just wrong to me to pay like 10k caps just to repair some of my stuff. Instead, I worked towards the jury rigging perk and repair my items now with similar items.
