Bethesda should explain things better if they don't want speculation.
Assuming the romance system will be akin Skyrim's is not a ridiculous assumption because Bethesda games are KNOWN TO HAVE SIMILAR MECHANCIS AND DESIGN PHILOSOPHIES. Assuming all companions will be a part of some sort of dating sim is a JOKE. Seriously, how could you not realize that? We already have good reasons to assume the former because Bethesda does not really care enough to make their own characters believable or with any level of depth, much less developing relationships between said the PC and said NPC. Just look at NV, then look at Fallout 3 and Skyrim, every single companion in NV had a side quest centered towards them, this has been non-existent in every single title which was developed by Bethesda. Not to mention that they actually had opinions and reactions towards your actions. Tell me, how often did you see this in Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, or even Morrowind? If you want spout hot-air and write this assumption off as "Bethesda bias", go right ahead, but even you would agree that these "idiotic" speculations would die down if Bethesda actually GAVE us some news other than just showcasing the combat system and Perks.I love how this forum takes the very little information we have and turns it into "I KNOW EXACTLY HOW ALL OF THIS WORKS, AND IT'S ABSOLUTELY IMPLEMENTED POORLY AND WILL RUIN EVERYTHING". We don't know exactly how this romance system works. Some of you are assuming that it will work like Skyrim, with the wedding ring being used to marry companions, rather than the ring just being there to represent your previous marriage. Some of you are assuming that it will lead to all companions being part of a dating sim, in later titles. All of this is ridiculous, since the only thing we know is that you can romance the human companions, regardless of gender. But for all we know, this does not include ALL the companions. For all we know, some companions are only available to certain genders. We have no clue about the specifics, and to write it off just because of your Bethesda bias is absolutely idiotic.
I'm surprised they decided to implement romance. How could you cheat on your 200 year old wife?

I think we can reasonably assume that the protagonist of Fallout 4 will be a Widow(er) and is thus in the clear as far as infidelity is concerned.
