Lonesome Road speculation

On the Note of the Skin-less, NCR-ish mantle armor corpse pinned to the wall) I'm guessing that from whatever happened in the Divide the NCR formerly used a route that ran through Hopeville to travel to New Vegas and at some point they became cut off from everyone. At some point the NCR had run ins with the different creatures and fauna in the Divide and had to improvise in order to protect themselves (Hence the fact that whatever it was that's pinned up against the wall is wearing a combination of various in-game armors. alas licence plate used to protect the left thigh.)

Anyone have any ideas?

Yep, its pretty similar to what you mentionend, but I meant that it should be canon (which ofcourse wont happen). I am simply sick of wasteland politics instead of survival, of the NCR, armies, burocracy etc. It was nice when it was only Shady Sands back then, now it's just boring and not very postapo. But then again, this is just me. ;)

Because after 200 years humanity would still be on the same spot as if the nuclear war was happened yesterday, isn't?

It makes no sense you haven't organized societies after all this time, wich implies politics, economy and social behaviour.
Even with WWII the world rebuild itself and Europe was pretty much erased from the map, almost every major city was devastated, as well Japan for example.

I didn't say that it makes no sense (it does, as you already pointed out) - I was talking from my personal preferences. I personally find that development towards more order, politics etc. very boring and contrary to the Fallout "feeling". This is ofcourse just personal preference and I still like New Vegas. ;)

It's just a ghoul.

I'm not entirely sold on that part mostly because I watched the LR trailer about 30 times during my break today and noticed a few things. At one point in the trailer you can see (0:58) one of these Divide Survivors and such so I'm inclined to believe that while yes it is something other than human it is not the ghoul we are used to but instead something new.

If I remember correctly, in Dead Money we learn that the cloud that surrounds the Sierra Madre changes the occupants of the villa into the freaks in suits aka Ghost People. And in Old World Blues we learn that the cloud that surrounds the Sierra Madre was developed at Big Mountain and is in fact a biological weapon that was tested there.

So I think that whatever created the divide is something related to the Cloud and these survivors are just that the unlucky survivors of an experiment that was never supposed to be nor come to fruition. Instead these, things, have clung to life and kept on living. Something like a ghoul but something so much more... bizarre.

On another note at (1:01) we see the courier standing next to Ulysses. If you were supposed to kill him then why do I get the idea that he just wants your help to fix whatever happened in the divide? Maybe he wants to wipe the divide off the map so that whatever deep dark secrets hidden there never reach the light of day? Thoughts?

It dose look to be like some type of new ghoul. also there seems to be something wrong with the air the raider types are all wearing masks Ulysses included.

Anyone notice the knife in the security bot.

At 0:58 that ranger armor has some type of horse emblem on it. followed by being attacked by the red ghoul thing

Not sure if it's been stated but Hopeville is probably the divide.

You can see the eagle staff!

And at 1:03 You see the courier walloping Ulysses.

I hope you can choose to ally with him and clean out the Mojave.... I mean, the rest of the world was cleansed by nuclear fire..... except the Mojave.

It's their turn now.

That did happen.

In Honest Hearts, Joshua Graham mentions that, after the First Battle of Hoover Dam, the NCR had sent several regiments through the Divide to give chase to the Legion, and "something" happened there that pretty much ended in a lot of NCR losses and gave the Legion time to recover.

I'm not sure of the source or if it is purely speculation on someones part but according to the Vault Wiki, these creatures are called "Blood Men". I hope that they're not just some ghouls but maybe something different.

Considering that much the DLCs have pinned the blame on some of the more outlandish experiments on the Big MT (including whatever whether experiment happened there), it's a good chance that the Blood Men and others are also experiments gone horribly awry (much like the Ghost People in the Sierra Madre).

Even Vault 22 seems to have been affected by Big MT's experiments (Vault-Tec apparently put one of those experiments in Vault 22, it seems).

Yes.

I'm guessing that now they're just some kind of ghoul unique to the Divide.

anyone know if lonesome road will be a dlc that you have beat the main game like broken steel? or will it be like the other ones where you can start anytime

It will be like the others. None of the New Vegas DLC will allow play "after the end" like Broken Steel.

It most likely will be like the other ones. In any case it will not happen after the main game, because after the main game, the game ended.

Random Musing: I'm thinking by now, that Whitely (the guy heard on the messages on ED-E) won't physically be in Lonesome Road, but he'll appear in messages throughout the Divide, talking about the upgrades for the Duraframe Eyebot.

Whitley was on the East Coast, afterall.
