Megamod 2.3 technical issues and suggestions

also in relation to the problem of Klint . ddraw.ini sfall version there seems to not let the NPC to autolevel. did this cause of the problem of klint? due to me resetting the variable? this is in version 2.34.

how did I make plasma rifles appear out of nowhere? I was waiting for the vorpal rat to finish off the Knights, (hey I needed car fuel, doesn't everyone?) and I reloaded my bb gun and every time I did this it replace the item as a plasma rifle, when I lifted the item from the inventory my bb gun was still there. and on a side note arthur the knight had advanced power amour as dead loot when I picked it up, he was wearing normal power armour. Im quite sure the dud armour was given to klint. did ya ever notice how everyone gives him there first advanced armour. these 2 could also collirate

Because of the way Klint levels, he is virtually unaffected by that level fix (except when in low grade armors).

As for the plasma rifle bug, it just doesn't make any sense why one would appear. Did you modify the map? Are you using any other "cheats"?

As for Arthur's armor, I will correct that.
 
I remembered few more bugs I found. Sorry if someone else said it already. I read the other MegaMod thread and another 29 pages are just to much.

- I also had weird stuff with Klint level. At first he was overpowered with carry weight and HP (I found that it's the way it should be) but about halfway through the game when I gave him bridgekeeper robes his carry weight went down and he had only 40 HPs. He also changed name, in combat I got messages like "Klint - stage 1 got hit for...". I'm not sure if it's armor related though since I noticed that after some time. Before this I sometimes couldn't change his combat settings, and sometimes I could choose any I wanted. Also sometimes he would use ranged weapon over meele and sometimes the other way. I think this was related to the problem before.

- In BoS bunker when I give back the artifact to the general in front of the door game crashes (this is alredy known) but when I give it to him in the bunker and get out the battle starts as it should untill the general uses his gatling. Then the game just freezes.

- In scraptown when I choose to join the Fools there is an NPC who speaks in weird font and when I choose any option the game crashes (or I just chose the wrong one and didn't want to try others)

he doesnt have insane high stats, just an increased small arms skill


I drop sulik a long time ago cause he wouldnt use any weapons other then low level melee weaps. and he doesnt wear shoes.

is cult of personality a trait or perk? and what do you need to get it? ch 10?

also MIB88 can the brainbot in future version be able to have a brain transfer? ie, hmmm sentrybots not so usefull now rather have the other, etc.. could you also make the femaleAI in bos bunker be able to become a robot aswell, skynet gets very lonely out there,

Im so sure no matter how good my science and repair skills and doctor skills are, the should not be exceeded by npc, goddammit Im a doctor, not a magician! just be nice sum how if they were stronger to fix things in game. Ive never once had skynet help in any science way, mainly cause I needed 125% science to even get him to use his "brain". I feel personally skynets going to have alot more knowledge of science then me. lenny going to have more doctor skills then me, I cant learn in 13 years what he has in his very long time on the planet. is it possible to get him and klint to fix up other npc too? and maby myron ablity could be just hand out stimpacks in battle, he is so so so pussy.

would a smaller version of this mod be made for mac? I feel these guys are missing out in the community. no mod for them in a very long time
 
When I get to the end and see Cameron at the temple of trials, when I hover the mouse over him it says error, and also when I do a detailed Look on him. When I talk to him, it's like this:

Not sure what is wrong, everything else seems to be fine, the added floor 'puzzle' with the stone brick, the addition of the broken sniper rifle and stuff like mushrooms and weed. Strange.

This is with a IN 3 [Stupid] character, all I can think of is somehow this wasn't thought of?


[edit] Ok definitely something weird with my install, not sure what, when I killed the NPC (it said Warrior in the fight messages though Error with look etc) and got the key and opened the door, as soon as i came out I got elder talking head pop up, at the same time as the vault suit video - when the video ended, the screen went black, then nothing happened from there, I had to alt-tab and close the game manually :/

This is a fresh install of the game and starting from the beginning so I really don't know what the problem is :(

It might be a simple mod, but I have no idea if this is affecting your game. And, I am not going to add it to my game to test it out.

Perk. Charisma 10 required as well as the right level (maybe 15, but I can't remember).

Sentrybot with a rocket launcher and minigun not useful!? Depends on playing style. As for the BOS AI, I have no plans to make it into another NPC (besides, why would the BOS just give it up?).

An overhaul of sorts is in order. However, something like that needs to be done smartly and with a real plan in place. Don't expect to see any changes with regards to NPC skills and their uses for a long time.

I put together the files once in what I thought was the proper Mac format (for version 2.31). However, I don't think the person who was testing it out got it to work right.

@Hyrulian: Not sure what is messed up, but it certainly is. The error looks like it is using one script, but another dialog. Besides, you don't have to fight him. There is a different path in the MM. I would try reinstalling once again. Sometimes randome errors happen, though. Still, make sure to follow those installation tips in the readme file.
 
MIB88: I can work on testing it for you on my mac laptop if you need help, I got your older versions and some of killaps working once on my old mac b4 I zapped it with 240volts without an converter.

Ive worked on mods b4 for other games, and also made my own stuff.
be more than keen to try try and try again.

about NPC skills, how are npc skills worked out, I have not found the scripts for this part yet, yet need to create sum sort of klint's medical abilities. would it be possible to base this on such things as your skills? as it already checks for your level being higher or lower.
and is their scripting for using stimpacks like "weapons" on allies for npcs? or would that have to be worked from scatch


I dont know if any ones mentioned this, but cassidy shows up wearing PA when he should be wearing combat armor and ca mrk2, mebbe even ca BOS
 
Ok, I deleted everything and made a fresh install per the Windows XP thread, ran through the temple of trials again, this time without a stupid character. Cameron's still really bugged, you have as dialogue options stuff that he would be saying, etc, it's really weird. And a bunch of Error stuff too.

I'm very sure I did everything as you are supposed to, I did that, then installed the official patch, then installed megamod as per the readme.

There is about 450.000 $ in inventory of some bones in Primitive Tribe Enterance Area:

Also i cant find green exit gird in Primitive Tribe Enterace - i must use that number cheat while looking at city map....

Also is possible to talk to Sulik sis if you stant to her tent enterance as close as possible. It will run Sulik & his sis dialogue but you cant leave tent 'cause guard wont let you... i will try to remove some wall of tent to make ''second exit''
 
@Tom9k: I just addressed the money and the exit grid just one page ago.

I'll check the scorpions. (Edit: Corrected. I have added scripts to three of those scorpions.)

I also know about the roof tiles and the spacing of people... also mentioned a while ago, on the wiki, and possibly even the readme file.
 
Reason I want 2 change from sentry bot is more his level are stuffing up and crashes at the BOS ai quest. btw did I mention cassady's Combat armor types show up as power armour when he walks around. I found out if I just leave klint in bos power armor his level dont fudge up, but he is at 275 hit points???? and I too found the large sum of monies which seem useless as the shopkeepers dont restock so well this time. be good if you turned the BOS outpost in San Fran as a shopfront and the quest slightly change, ie get mark 2 advanced armour or somthing to that effect, then unlocking a great store for you to purchase ammo and stims. this base is useless if you do the abbey quests, I dont know.... Im more or less stuck on the abbey quest as I cannot seem to understand the simple bounty hunter misson to find the outlaw, how do I trigger his arrival, I like to get these out of the way, plus I know this is spoiling it for me, but am I going to have difficulty with attacking shi, when I try to hack there main ai computer, I can sneak in there past them with stealth boy, but once I try and hack in the find me. should I just plant explosives on them or is this going to trigger a a huge fight in china town, I dun want to fight all them cause that not my thing, and they are really the only source of ammo for me as it is very scarce in this version.

I dunno, starting new job tommorow, hope things pan out.
 
I don't understand what is happening at the BOS Research Facility yet. It is on my list of bugs.
Someone mentioned the Cassidy/Combat armor thing. Turns out, I do not have any artwork for Cassidy in combat armor. But the power armor you see him in I have added in it's place by mistake. I will correct that. Cassidy in combat armor will use the standard hero animation in combat armor.
Klint is a tank. It is on my list to lower his hitpoints and carry weights for all levels. He doesn't level like other characters, you know.
I have a lot of other things to fix/add before I add a shop of sorts to the BOS Research Facility or Outpost.
The bounty hunter mission is messed up, obviously. If the correct global variables are triggered, you would see Krueger in another small town. This is also on my list of bugs.

Hyrulan: are you using a diffrent language? or the uk version of the game? make sure all the files in the data dir as read only
 
Sorry, Hyrulian. Yeah, I know the problem: it isn't reading the proper dialog files. But, since you said you also had combat with the guy, that seems to suggest the script the game is using is also wrong. But, it doesn't make any sense. You said you followed the advice in that other thread. Make sure, like I said before, to follow the advice I wrote in the readme file. It's entirely possible your configuration file is pointing to the wrong areas, but, try the other stuff first.

Edit: I have corrected Cassidy for the next release.
 
ok, I decided most of my bugs were due to cheating, sorry, so i started again without a modified gcd file
klint fine so far, but I dare not put him in advanced power armor,

if you get the toxic caves map, without talking to mrs buckner, if you finish the task. the trapper follows you back to klamath as a ally npc, and you can get the 1000 exp over and over again. there might be a few quests like that.

also leaving my npc at the encounter of the vault 13 portal, I forget what its called, makes them vanish.

the heart pills I cant seem to get, I think this is due to using the cassedy head model,

the mutated rat vault still crashes, is there a way around this?



also where is the research papers?
 
Please try out the advanced power armor on Klint again. I could have sworn that I had corrected it.

Regarding the experience points for saving Smiley over and over, how did you get the quest? Did you get the quest from Slim?

About the Guardian of Forever encounter (portal), I didn't change anything in the Megamod. Did you save the game on that map already? Did you leave and come back? I was just reading in another thread about errors with special encounters. Something about the location not being on the map until you actually leave the encounter and the game tends to freak out with those encounters when it comes to saving/loading. I think it's in the RP thread.

What do you mean you can't get the heart pills? The Cassidy head model has nothing to do with that part of his script. What exactly are you trying to do?

Where does the crash take place in Vault 23? Which map? What are you doing?

Which research papers are you talking about?
 
I'll give klint a go at it. couple of dead enclave dudes coming up.

im musta got the quest from slim as he gave me a map. there might be other quest(s) like this, i remembered this one cause he went crazy and followed me around klamath.

about the heart pills. i coudnt search the doctors bookself, just woudnt do it. i read in the rp that the head model prevents the heart pills from working.

vault 23: crashes soon as I get down the elevator.

the research papers are needed for mr fixit upgrades on energy weapons.

I found little bugged merchants in San Fran. They dont remember items I sold them. When i return after 2-3 days (time to fill new stuff) they are gone (but filled with new ones)....
