Megamod 2.3 technical issues and suggestions

you know these bugs you guys are talking about are not from the mod itself but from cheating. I figured it out the hard way. and was only able to play the game fully without cheats and win too!
 
When I enter to Vault with rats (close to Military Base) I get message that I found Vault 13 - which is not true

i got the quest, then took a few days away from the game. i knew i needed the armor, but completely forgot about the tool kit. thanks much from the info.... again :)

With power armor on, all the settings are greyed out for him in my game, so the only way for me to change it back, is to give him some other armor then change the settings.

ah.. i misunderstood what you meant about him being useless. yeah.. i can't change any of the combat readiness options.

and even with the last 2 versions of the mod, klint always did what ever he wanted to anywho. it didn't matter what i changed it to, it seemed to always default to something else after we did what we had to do. ie... killing the slavers in ncr, i could set him to do what i wanted, but after the fight, he had totally different options going on. but it is not game stoping... just an annoyance.
 
Before i put Klint into metal armor and set his options for melee, when i gave him power armor, i think his custom settings stayed the same, and he is useful, for charging and stabbing. I haven't tried any big guns with him yet, but a tank that gets 4 stabs with a base melee of like 9 is useful to me.

I haven't used any cheats, so i don't think that isn't problem. Not to impose but does anyone else have suggestions for my game issues.
 
@All: I am not ignoring these reports. I have been away from my own computer for a few days. I'll be able to look into these issues with Klint and the other problems in another couple of days.

You mean the NPC level bug? I think everyone of my Party members levelled up at some point, but when you change to another map, they are normally reset back to standard.

But who needs Party members that level up when you can have 10 of them... :)
Not sure if thats normal, but with CH 7 I had 10 members in my party, including me.

Skynet was the only NPC I found that wouldn't join when I had too many people.


Valut 23 Question: On the bottom level of the vault there is a cave in the bottom right section with an exit grid. When I go through the exit grid, I end up behind the entrance Elevator on Level 1 with no way of getting back. So it looks like my guy is running around on the mountain rock. :)
Whats the deal with that?

Another Vault23: The name on the world map stays as 'Unknown' even though I have been there.

I havent had a problem with level ups, One I dont put klint in anything higher then powerarmor mrk1. and 2 I have changed sfall to have the random eliment of npc levels removed before I started the game.



I clocked the game yesterday compeleting everything, except a couple of bos missions vertibird missions and vault23, I cant even get to the vault23.

to make the game easy, I gave all my npc's .223 pistol, plenty of ammo at the bunker.over 1000rounds there. stocked up on the bozars sniperrifle ammo and when I had plenty changed a few of them to bozar, exp marcus he always had the bozar. .223 ammo seem to do at min 50 dmg on enclave each shot, every npc I got fires it twice in one round, so 10npc times 2attacks@50hitpoints each equals 1000hitpoints a round plus markus actually does 100 per shot from the bozar. Im getting 1100 points at rough.
 
It seems that removing Klint from the party temporarily will allow my other members to level up. This means that Klint cant level (that is if he can level in the first place). I also moved to a new map (but one i been to before) and my members kept their level ups.

Still haven't figured out the weather mod, In dx9 mode my game still goes slow, and it seems that every time there is weather pink blocks fly across the screen.

As far as leveling goes so far so good. I messed around with Klint, it would appear that when ever Klint leaves your party his combat settings reset (in the case of power armor he is gonna run away with full hp for some reason). I have confirmed that switching to an armor that you can set his settings and then switching to one where he cant, will keep the settings the way you want.
 
Bug notices:

Early in the game Klint leveled up, and his hp went from 40 or wtv to 185hp and doing 20 damage with sledge.

Arroyo: cant get morlis to give me flint even if i have pot?
Cleared my name but other warriors still dont talk to me and let me finish their quest? (Lucas)

Primitive tribe: skeleton near scorpions in left corner has 99999gold and 1 spear.

Primitive Tribe:

- not 99999 gold, but 460 000 +/- 2000 up/ down
- I cant go to second map with Sulik sis (exit grid is brown and go to world map), but with pressing 2 its possible
- in tent on right side (quest with 10 knives and 5 spears) is on shelf and high pot 99999 xander roots and 99999 knives (I don't know exactly how many, xander roots try take 6-7 times) :lol:

but first I solve quests with spears/ knives and repair well (must first speak with man near well, use rope on well, than MUST SPEAK AGAIN with man and than I can use bucket on well)

Klint's leveling is strange, I have Klint, Sulik and Vic, all three have level,
Klint 275 HP, Big Guns, 575 lb, but later in game have only 180 Hp, Small Guns and can carry only 402 lb
 
Alright, I found the problem with Klint regarding advanced power armor and metal armors. The script was calling the incorrect proto file. When Klint was in metal armor, the player could not modify his combat disposition. This has been corrected.
The correct protos for Klint in the Advanced Power Armors are now correct. However, I have encountered a new problem with this. While his stats are all correct and his combat disposition can be modified, for some reason you cannot trade with him. I will continue to look into this. It is possible that everything is working correctly. I have only done my tests in the mapper. Things act differently in game than the mapper sometimes.
EDIT: Barter flags reset. However, I see that the wrong protos are still being called, or that there is a problem with the protos themselves. At least one of them is clearly using the wrong art. I'll keep working on this.

I will clear out the xander roots and knives. The other items have already been addressed.
EDIT: Xander roots and knives removed. The chieftain was also carrying an insane number of spears. Those have also been removed.

And, again, Klint does not level like other party NPCs except when wearing the leather jacket or leather armor. All other 'levels' of his are dependent on his armor worn (and there is only one level).

I did not make Skynet susceptible to Cult of Personality. I don't remember if either of the robotic dogs are susceptible to that perk. If they are, I may have to modify their scripts. It doesn't seem right to me that it would work on them (well, maybe K-9, but not Robodog).

I will look into Vault 23 again. This will take some time, as I will have to start a new game and play through it until I am tough enough to survive that place. I know about the experience bug. I just have no idea what is causing it.

I will check the script with Horton's son again. I have never had any problems with it, though.
 
i just finished doing the nasty with angela b. then i walk to the 2nd floor of the sharks den from the 3rd, and you'll never guess who was there to greet me.

Thanks for the report. But, wait... Did you get that dialog option from Bess?! And I take it she was not in your party before? What about Miria: Is she there somewhere in that group you have? And does this happen with both Bishop women... every time?

if you mean the floating text, that is from miria. if you mean the "You see a strange creature." that is because i also have the alien from V14 in the same room.

no, bess wasn't in my party before hand. yes, miria is in my party, along with klint, sulik and markus.

EDIT: i missed the part about both bishop women. yes... i just tested it and it does happen with both.
 
I was wondering, if its possible to increase the speed at which you travel on the worldmap, as it is I seriously expect it'd take me like an hour and a half just to run to San Fran to get the Vertibird plans quest. o_o;
 
hey again, SainnQ,

You need to edit the sfall or ddraw.ini file to change the worldmap travel speed. I can't remember how it works exactly, but Timeslip gives instructions how where you find the entry to modify in that file. It opens in Notepad.
 
Thanks alot, I was wondering how the hell that'd work. I was actually really worried I might've improperly installed either of the two mods. I like the Megamod alot, it makes Fallout 2 seam more alive.

A bit of an antithesis to the whole theme of fallout.


Its just the damned speed at which you traverse things is so horribly slow, and its immensely difficult getting to the point where the Wastelands is still a threat, but not a death sentence. I was glad I could make it through the damned Temple in the beginning. I had to smooth talk my way past the dude at the end. D:
 
I Don't know if this is a glitch or not, but it seams Vic has become fed up with something, and won't let me interact with him, I've to steal to give him munition for his weapon.

I don't know what the problem is, could someone tell me if there is a way to reset him somehow?

Try to change his armor, happen to me with Klint in older relaese of the MM...
