Megamod 2.3 technical issues and suggestions

That armor-changing trick will only work on Klint because it uses a different proto file when you remove his armor. Not the same with any other party NPC. Although I do not remember experiencing such a bug in the game, I do remember seeing this bug (NPC apathy bug) fixed in one of the later versions of Killap's fixes (and, by 'later', I mean one of the fixes that has yet to be included because it was after his January patch release and after I went away for real life issues). It is a bug from the 'vanilla' game.

I have no idea how he might be reset mid-game.

I can't change his armor, he won't interact with me, just gives me some pissed off floating text. I can't get the screen to pop up that allows me to trade with him, talk to him etc.
 
Well, if he's pissed, then check your karma. What have you done? Did you kill his daughter? Are you playing evil?
 
Hell no, I've gotten the Champion Karma title, and like 500+ Karma says I'm also a Defender.


Its gotten to the point where I'm considering offing his ass and finding Marcus, or some other NPC that can handle rifles/energy weps.

It might be the apathy bug that Killap fixed, I don't know. Just in case, do you remember what you were doing in the game when you noticed this? Maybe there is something associated with some quest.
 
No, D: I was just wandering around, I picked up some equip and thought hmm. Vic could put this to use, clicked him and got "I've had it up to here!"


I've offed him, unfortunately tho; Now Marcus won't join me, says too many party members. There's only me, Sulik, Klint.


I was also wondering does the Megamod allow Sulik's proficiency with Sub Machine Guns to span all weaponry in the SMG category? Or is he restricted to the 10mm SMG found in the beginning of the game?
 
Erm. Yeah, I just wandered into vault 23 after finding the final room and a hole in the wall, I entered it now I find myself in the rock itself. And there is no way out.


Is this intentional? :(

Are you serious?! Why would something like that be intentional?! Try this: Open up your data/data folder. There is a file called maps.txt. Open it with notepad and replace section with section 204 that is in that file. When I renamed the maps, I forgot to change this file. So, the game is looking for a map that doesn't exist, and instead just reloads the same map.

Well I added that piece of code into the map file, the game crashed when I tried to enter the area after it. I'm going to see if it was just being temperamental or if it was permanent.


Yeah its permanent, once the map loads. The rat boss's aggressive ai doesn't kick in, and it runs out of the area. Trying to load while your -in- the map will cash fallout to crash. OR if you try to follow the rat out of the area after its left, will cause fallout to crash. :/
 
Ugh. Alright. Thanks for the confirmation. I have no idea what might have happened. That maps file did need to be updated, though. I wonder if changing that file after you have started the game is what is causing the problem. I mean, I will have to test starting a new game with that new section 204 and see if I continue to get that crash as well. That area is just plagued with problems. I still can't find the cause of the experience bug either (why it gives 2000 exp every time you enter that map).
 
I thought the text was just the glitch, I didn't know it actually gave you 2k exp everytime you re-entered. Thats wacked. Lol
 
I suppose its not that much of a problem, btw when exactly does time run out to locate the Gecko for Arroyo? was it something like 2255?
 
How much Science skill is needed to hack NCR computer for Abbey? I have 170 and still does nothing. Is it working? (I dont have implantate).
 
Yes but if I use holodisc on the computer it says something like that I need a code. I tried to use science but no effect...
 
Also, when blasting coachroaches with a Pulse Rifle, are they supposed to shrink die, and then produce Robo Rocket Launchers? O_o

And the game just crashed after I tried to escape from the Enclave Patrol that was besieging the Brotherhood of Steel's Paladin Recon Unit.
 
Uhm.... i checked thouse guides and there is nothing about NCR and that computer except this on:

Get the information from the NCR computer.

This computer is located in Carlson's residence. 500 XP when you get the data using the implant, or 1500 XP if you hack the computer.

Hmm... nice to know which way is better but I could use some advice how to hack the computer

The robo rocket launchers in that case are actually the spit weapon that cockroaches are supposed to use. Unfortunately, something is bugged in their AI, and they always run away now. It only happens when the roaches are disintegrated for some reason... all other deaths result in it being destroyed, which is what is supposed to happen. Perhaps I'll just change the ground picture to some ashes or something, that way the player will never see it...

As for the crash, does it happen every time? And which encounter again? Is it a random encounter?

Yeah, sorry the forum I frequent has a double-post auto-merge function, or atleast allows me to edit, or delete double posts.

Uhm, its a scripted event, it involves a bunch of Enclave soldier's and a Brotherhood of Steel Paladin sitting behind a rock barracade. Its for the BoS reconnaissance quest.
