Megamod 2.35 technical issues and suggestions

Still getting the blank screen (white) as soon as the temple of trials should come up.

Question:

a) Do I set just the files from the Mod pack to read only?
Or b) just the files in the pre-existing game?
Or c) both?

I been spending multiple hours this week to get this to work, wife is mad :?

Please save me from domestic trouble ;)
 
Well, now, which is it: The game goes to a white screen immediately after the last of the logos/movies (like you said in one post) or it goes all white when you enter the Temple of Trials (like you said in another post)? It makes a difference. This needs to be resolved first. I have no answer for you if it happens after the logos/movies.

It's a little different if it does this when you enter the Temple of Trials. There is an error usually resulting in an all black screen if you don't set the files inside the data/proto/critters folder and data/proto/items folder to read only. Check that. There are more than a few posts regarding black screens, proto files needing to be read only, and files from .rar archives.

Its a white screen at the point where i would enter the map right before the temple. :crazy:

Its elder speaking then team X animation, then white screen and game crash.

At that point I can hear the noises of the location but cant see anything at all.

Escape button wont work.
only ctrl alt delete.
Task manager states : "application error, fallout.exe"
 
Un molested games work fine, was able to install killaps restauration project.

using winzip to decompress :)

Another piece of information:
game encountered a problem at address 7c812afb


is what error message says
 
Maybe modify the grafics in the ddraw file. I have problems running in dx9 for some reason and have to run it in 8 bit.

I can now bring up the first screen and before i am hrrying to work I just tested it by entering the caves themselevs.

So at last the first few seconds of play it seems ot work fine.

I get an error mesasage shading not available but I dont mind ( what will that do?)

The error regarding shaders just means that the weather mod will not work (so, no rain or sandstorm graphics).
 
MIB88, I have to say you did an amazing job. I cant imagine how much time and effort you put into this.

I used your custom xp level table in the ddraw file and I really like it but I wanted to make the game much more difficult and lessen the HP and SKill pnts per level to even things out while decreasing the xp needed to level up. The idea was to maintain the challenging nature of the game while leveling quicker and getting more advanced perks that would make the game more interesting.

I tried the FSE Program but could not find the location of the compiled INT file.

I was wondering if you could add this to the game? If not I understand and I'll keep working at it.

Another issue..
Albeit purists might rejoice at this particular misfortune..

I ahem,.. equipped Klint with Adv Pwr Armor Mk2 and he stopped using weapons.

After a few saves it even said when I tried to take his armor off "this critter cant carry anything".


I went to an earlier save and took off the armor (i just cheated a tiny weeny bit since i wanted to see whats under the toxic caves in this version I was gonna give all or most of the stuff back afterwards) but even after the Adv. Mk2 armor went off the wont carry weapons anymore rendering this character useless.

Any thoughts?

What you are referring to is made by Timeslip, not me. I'm not at all sure how that stuff works, but it's not in a script. If Timeslip adds a feature that does what you suggest, so be it. It can always be turned on and off by those who want to play using that option.

It seems as though I'm always having problems with Klint. I thought I had that issue you mentioned resolved. Basically, somewhere an incorrect proto file is being called (or is missing). I'll fix it for the next release. Thanks for the report.
 
Yes it's a bug... one that was fixed with 2.35.3. Get that update (I think it is still on the madbrahmin site), then reapply the 2.35.4 update.

Unfortunately the download for 2.35.3 was linked to rapidshare and is down now.

He should apply this patch. This one includes all patches up to 2.35.4.
 
I'll repack everything again that came out after 2.35 into the next release (2.35.5) which will probably be out in another 3 weeks or so. But potential problems and confusion are still going to exist since when I make a release, even though I might notify several people, they don't always put it on their sites. And recently, by the time it was on the site, there may already have been an update.

What people need to understand is that, just because you download and apply the .4 patch, for example, you need to download and install the .3 patch first. I'll let you know if there is a non-existent patch version or if no previous versions are required.
 
I think the best way to keep patches clear is to upload them and link them yourself on this forum with short info how to use them. Also the first post on this forum might be used for all information coming with version 2.35 and all future updates. Just idea.

Sry, to bother u guys, but I applied your patch today to a fresh version of 2.35 and got no barkeeper in Golden Gecko, also the intro screen says 2.35.3
