Fallout 2 mod Megamod version 2.47 Bug Reports and Suggestions

Is the read-only issue only for winrar? What if I use a different extraction tool?

@_Pyran_ If I use the alternative sfall you suggested, do I have to hex edit fallout.exe?

1. You need attribs "read-only" (r--) on *.pro files. Assign through system.
2. no, don't do this

Figured out that Android won't allow you to set folders or files to read-only unless you're rooted :yuck:. Been playing with don't delete protos in sfall options...been fine so far unless I play with another character.

Also just wanted to say it runs kinda slow, not too bad, especially when I kill an enemy it lags a couple seconds longer. I assume its frm files being loaded for animations and such. Wanted to know if I can delete any files that aren't essential for the mod because I play 640x480 on a small device so I dont need high res assets...make it leaner and meaner.

1. pack files into dat (patch000.dat)
2. increase animation speed
3. or change device
4. also, maybe, you need ExaGear RPG / qemu / limboPC / Magic dosbox free
5. hi-res - you can disable it.
6. sFall - necessary for corectly work...

I'm able to use dat explorer. Exagear RPG runs pretty well on my device, I've got Diablo 2 modded and running at high speed so Im cool with that. If you wanna shoot me a patched .dat fine, or I can use dat explorer. I enjoy getting these games to work on portable devices .:salute:

There's an easier way.... just use /mod/ folder method. Proto files aren't deleted from there and you don't have to deal with anything read-only related.

Move all files into YourFalloutFolder/mods/Megamod/ and add "PatchFile0=mods\Megamod" to the ddraw.ini file (under "ExtraPatches").
If you don't fuck up the folder structure inside /mods/, everything should work as before.

If you want an example of how this works, check out etTu, it's setup the same way.

@Lexx So I install MM in mods folder and don't overwrite vanilla fallout 2 and BAM I should be good to go? Why didn't I think of this before...

Can Restoration Project be done the same way? I'd like to play either.

Yes, don't touch any vanilla files. The /mods/ folder works as "Patch000.dat" - it's doing pretty much the same but you don't have to pack anything. Just be sure to keep the folder structure correct.

@Lexx And then I can have another folder called RP for Restoration Project and switch 'em in the .ini when I wanna play either one?

In theory, yes. However, latest version of the RP uses /mods/ folder for itself, and you can't put /mods/ into /mods/ ... then it's better to use this method.

/Edit: Also some mods use different Sfall configurations, which you can't switch easily like that. So tl;dr - for bigger mods it's better to install them separate, for smaller mods you can use the /mods/ folder.

Does this method work on android? If so, then I don't argue.
p.s. Compilation for Windows made according to your advice, including Megamod :)

If the rest of Sfall works, then I don't see why it wouldn't? If Sfall only partially works on Android, then truth told, I wouldn't even try to play Fallout mods on it, because the chance to run into troubles somewhere down the line is high.

@_Pyran_ I'm gonna try it later, so I'll let ya'll know probably Saturday.
ok, thanks.
link - version without hrp, appearance & aths mod. files pack into dat.

Personally, did not check Fallout + mod on android. Heard about method: emulator + win9x and special sfall edition for this.
