The complicated mechanics that made a whole range of characters possible?

Which of these made you like Oblivion so much?
All of those factors made me like Oblivion so much, but a couple amongst those can be highlighted.
I'd say my favorite parts of oblivion are:
  • The array of unique factions that appear in no other game
  • The quest system that doesn't hold your hand and lets you figure your own way around
  • The Complex political system with lots of intrigue and conflict
  • The Exotic and alien terrain/climate. Preferred it to Skyrim, because Skyrim is just really grey and dull.
  • And of course the inventive and interesting enemies.

I... I honestly can't decide if you're serious or not. Poe's Law is too real when it comes to Oblivion fans.

Out of the Elder Scrolls games I've played, my preference looks like this
Morrowind
Oblivion
Skyrim

But if I had to put it in terms of an interesting World, Skyrim beats Oblivion, but Morrowind is better.

I'm utterly serious.
I think Hassknecht is just wonder whether or not you understood that the post was sarcastic. It is obvious that it is poking fun at Oblivion. While some of them could be construed as seriousness, the "morally ambiguous villain" one is quite straightforward. I enjoyed oblivion a lot, but I also love Fallout 3 for similar reasons(exploration and nostalgia).

Exactly.
The factions in Oblivion are utterly generic.
The quest system holds your hand the entire time except for a few exceptions, showing your exactly where to go without having to think about it.
Political system...?
The landscape is again utterly generic, stock Tolkienesque fantasy stuff.
Same for the enemies. Generic fantasy enemies.

That's probably why Hlaalu has a greater chance of winning the civil war during Morrowind's time. The Empire during Morrowind is still doing well (though there are signs of instability cropping up, like unrest in the Imperial City)

EDIT: Later games show Redoran winning since the Empire shrank away.
Caius, who's pretty well informed in regards to the empire's internal affairs, says just before leaving Morrowind that the empire's collapse is imminent and unstoppable, and that the only issue for the player should be to stop Dagoth Ur.

Sounds nothing like Oblivion and just like Morrowind.

Sounds like I dont care about Morrowind worshippers.

Gosh why is Morrowind so good to you. Its graphics are about as good as the picture I painted when I was 3 on an easel after the dog walked over it.
Graphics make the game for you?:eyebrow:
Well, you can always get a mod for better textures.

I have no need to worship it. I certainly prefer those graphics over the Mr and Mrs potato heads in Oblivion not to mention how it looks generic, besides good graphics don't make a good game as you can see with 95% of the schlock today having good graphics but absolutely shit in every other aspect.

Hey, people said Dark Souls 1 didn't deserve any praise and GOTY over Skyrim. (Now that DS is a mainstream thing they don't dare, the pussies)
And before, Demon's Souls and Oblivion.

Art Syle and direction >>>>> Graphics IMO

If it was the other way around? "Elder Scrolls games have no multiplayer. Suck it"

If Graphics made a game, I'd be able to take the GOTY awards seriously.

I'd rather have horrendous graphics in an enjoyable game, then great graphics in an utterly generic game.

The thing is horrendous graphics negate any enjoyable factor completely. For me at least.

Morrowind really did age badly. The animations suck so hard.
Too bad this lessens your enjoyment of a game that much, but to each his own, I guess.
But why is Morrowind so good to us? It's a great game. Many of us grew up with worse graphics, so that part doesn't matter.
The story, the setting, the quests, the whole game is just unique compared to the other Elder Scrolls games. It really feels like a different world.
It's just a very rewarding game once you get used to the clunky mechanics and ugly graphics.

Also Morrowind is a game that can be fixed with mods. Ugly graphics? Fixed. Shitty combat? Okay... no we can't fix that, but we can actually make you hit shit. Bad levelling? Fixed.

Morrowind was the first game in a First person perspective I could actually play without getting bored. Again I was so used playing actual RPGs back in the day that waving my sword and not hit was just normal (because I know how RPG systems work and I knew that the better my short sword skill was, the more I would hit  that is why I consider Morrowind the last RPG Bethesda made).
The world and stories in that game, the lore, settlements, quests, factions, etc. are so interesting and make sense. Also the music, I love Morrowind's music.
