Morrowind thread!

Representatives of your respective houses, please decide the winner of a Morrowind civil war at the time of the game itself. If a conflict between the Great houses spiraled out of control who would win the civil war and become the dominant house? Assume the Tribunal does not take part, but sits out of the conflict and ensures that the temple is unharmed.
Redoran
"The political affairs surrounding the Oblivion Crisis and the Red Year culminated in a power vacuum, as House Hlaalu was unceremoniously dismissed from the Grand Council. Animosity between Hlaalu and Redoran increased, as House Redoran seized the opportunity and became the leading power in what remained of Morrowind, taking the position that Hlaalu had held for centuries due to their close ties with the Empire."

Oh yes, they would without a doubt intervene. Firstly they have a large economic investment in Morrowind and they cannot risk Morrowind breaking apart from the Empire, which would risk destroying their pride and national image.
That's probably why Hlaalu has a greater chance of winning the civil war during Morrowind's time. The Empire during Morrowind is still doing well (though there are signs of instability cropping up, like unrest in the Imperial City)

EDIT: Later games show Redoran winning since the Empire shrank away.

I'm discussing the event of a civil war before the Red Year and Oblivion Crisis, during the events of Morrowind.

I can always check by playing the Elder Scrolls Mod for Medieval 2. That has all the Morrowind factions and is set during Morrowind.

Okay, well my answer stays somewhat the same then. Telvanni wouldn't care. Hlaalu would discuss profit and not do anything and Redoran would try to settle things, unless one of the parties had writs for everyone, then it would be okay.

Hlaalu is really expansive, though they're more subtle. They want all of Morrowind, and the official king is part of House Hlaalu.

What? Are you stile prattling on about this war of yours? Sure, yes, Whatever you say, now if you're done wasting my time, I have research to conduct.
I'm honestly... ohh, the arrogance of the Telvanni. I wonder how arrogant they'll be with their isolation and destruction.

Isolated destruction magic? Why must you insist on interrupting my research. Hlaalu right? Here, put this in one of your coffers. (drops 10 drakes to the floor) Now. if you don't mind, I have important study underway and your insentient... mouth movement is becoming quite distracting. How shall I convince you? I know just the thing. Ulles, the gardener, he's tending the marshmerrow in the swamp, I'm sure he will be more than happy to hear what you have to say.

While you lot are busy squabbling, us Redorans will be trying to defend the rest of Vvardenfell against Dagoth Ur and the Sixth House alongside the Buoyant Armigers in our homes that lie in the Ashlands for some reason.

Go on with your civil war, it'll be pointless if we don't deal with most of the Blighted creatures that manage to spill out of the Ghostfence.

Yes please, do go on and do our fighting for us. Losing Imperials, dare I say Dunmer is so unprofitable against such a pointless enemy. Why, let the Tribunal bleed themselves dry on this Dagoth Ur creature. Perhaps the mad bitch Almalexia will come up and die, letting us take control of another group. Now let me see... there's the Cammona Tong, the Fighter's Guild, those Assassin guys, local Imperial troops, the actual Kingdom... hmmm... perhaps Redoran and Telvanni need a little change in leadership...

Let your words prattle on, Hlaalu. We still retain honor and our military force! It is our efforts that keep your lands safe to even allow for your scheming with the Imperials! Recall that the Imperial Legion respect us as peers in combat! We are even capable of settling disputes in and out of our house in the Arena rather than resort to treachery and deceit!

...Even if our representatives only enter battle with a dagger and the clothes on their backs while you equip your representative with fancy weapons and armor you clearly bought from the Imperials...

(As an aside, if you get what I'm referencing up there, you clearly play way too much Morrowind and are to be congratulated for it.)

(I think I do... it's something to do with the arena right? I don't know, haven't played in a long time. Wait.... wait... is it that Redoran quest where you have to help this cowardly guy win a duel in the Arena?)

Honour that let the Imperials to steal Caldera from you, a military force that sits in the middle of the Ashlands doing nothing. A true sign of strength is defeating an enemy without any sign or action of strength. Why waste countless coin to defend you when you can get someone else to do so? We the Hlaalu are strong because we do not stoop to petty acts of toughness or strength. We are strong because we have coin, and with coin one can do anything, for everyone has their own price...

(Technically you have to convince him to fight the duel in the first place by giving him lots of healing potions. By default, he would lose because he only has a dagger and some clothing while his opponent is decked out in far better gear. Unless you help him indirectly i.e reverse pickpocket good items, casting beneficial spells on him etc.)

But once the coffers runs dry, can you truly hold out for long against your enemies? Unlike your coin-bought assets, our assets are loyal and would never betray us. Our strength comes from our expertise, experience and training. Our leaders are united in one goal (if they are not too busy consulting the Morag Tong) and our Archmaster is a fine man (if he's not busy holding the sons of other leaders hostage and causing us trouble). The Empire grows unstable with news and rumors abound of unrest in the Imperial City. Surely this suggests trouble within the Empire which could spell trouble for Hlaalu.

Now begone, Hlaalu, we have yet another ashstorm to deal with! (Because someone fetcher decided that we ought to build our cities in the Ashlands where ashstorms are aplenty)

Fool! We hold the reins of Morrowind's economy! As long as Morrowind is as rich as it is beautiful we will never run out. Our coffers will become infinite, and even the loyal are wowed over by the promise of endless power, for that is what money entails. Your strength is pathetic, where was that strength when the Imperials took Caldera from you? You cursed and gnashed your teeth for that is all House Redoran is good for! The Hlaalu do not need the Empire for ever, for when the Tribunal is dead we will take over. A Hlaalu rules as king already, Vvardenfell is rightfully ours and we hold all of it's richest areas while you, you and the Telvanni are stuck in the most inhospitable regions of Vvardenfell and Morrowind. You are not true Dunmer, you are like the Nords, dumb and full of stupid battle lust.

House Hlaalu will rule supreme over all!

Take Caldera then. We have no use for excess wealth and the rumors of excess corruption there certainly will prevent you from earning a profit. Our ways brings us genuine respect and trust from many walks of life, even the Legion of your Imperial allies, and as for your 'King', many still question his legitimacy with all the rumors about him. We are a lot closer to true Dunmer with our ways, even remembering to defend our homes while your kind shameless count your coins.

Now, I will take my leave of you and seek out my quarters in the giant crab we all live in. It certainly beats simplistic manors and -
