I loved that movie, especially how self-aware it was. Action movies, even the silly ones, take themselves way too seriously these days.

I watched God Bless America last night. The first 30 minutes were enjoyable, but then some completely untalented actress pops up and she fucks up the rest of the flick.

I also watched Dark Shadows this week, which was decent, but still one of Tim Burton's lesser works.

Django... Great movie, great funny scenes, Tarantino through and through. I'd say the movie needed a little cut on the length (the first hour or so especially), but otherwise a fantastic job and watch it if you haven't already.

Django was definitely a step up from Basterds - I was rather upset about how much that one sucked.

Die Hard 5? And here I was thinking that Die Hard 4 would be the last one ever.

I never go to the cinema to watch new films though, I just wait until they get released on DVD.

I re-watched Angel Heart from 1987. I guess it's a horror movie. Pretty strange and entertaining.

    Watched Sunshine
Interesting story, nice and big-scale, I mean - the sun is pretty big!

Not too thrilled about the whole space-crazy antagonist spin, especially the oddly applied supernatural strength zombie characteristics he was given, which to me seemed quite out of the blue. His muscle tissue can allow him to lift a man by his throat, right up in the air and walk with him like this, but tears right off if you grab and pull it?
Seems like this character was stuffed in there solely to include an "alien monster" in a space-film.
The same problems and crisis moments could have been achieved by other plotlines, such as computer failure or something. This whole "rawr!" thing kindov irked me.[/spoiler:ce0d973ba3]

    Otherwise, neat movie.

How can you, I mean , just what?

Care to explain your view on Inglourious Basterds? Because it's one of my favorite Tarantino films.

I sat through the dreary Total Recall remake yesterday. What a dreadful experience. You start out with a PKD story, and this is what you come up with? Bleh. It's like the Arnold version with all the color and fun drained out of it, only worse.

I re-watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The Fincher version, that is. I liked it better the second time, probably because I wasn't struggling to keep up with the plot. The first time I had trouble sorting out the long list of suspects.

Finally, I re-watched Spielberg's first movie, Duel, from 1971. Pretty great. No rocket launchers or submachine guns, no CG effects, no aliens, and no superheroes. Just pure film-making like it used to be.

They showed that new remake of Karate Kid on tv. It could be worse. I felt like it was a nicely paced and respectful remake. I expected to be horrified, and wasn't.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a classic, though it's really more of a detective movie than an action one. All of the chapter titles in it are detective novels.

Haha. You know, perhaps I'll watch it again and get back to you. I remember disliking it and being very disappointed - I had great expectations for that and it fell short.

it was not a bad movie, quite enjoyable. But it was not one of tarants best films in my eyes.

I can understand not liking it or Django.
But liking Django more than Basterds? Absurd.

    "Just Ike, Mike, and Mustard"

    Gets me everytime.

And Basterds was pretty excellent, it got kinda fucked in the advertising, which made it seem like a straight up remake/homage to the original, as opposed to a strange, Spaghetti Western in France with Nazis thing that it was. But it was excellent.

There's also a bit in the special features that killed me, because Tarantino apparently labels shots after the people's stolen them from.
