Bethesda clearly had a lot of money for artists and there is a lot of fitting art and a huge world map on which to wander where a decent Fallout game could have been set.
Cait, Piper, the little details like all those washed up and dead sea creatures, the Minutemen as a faction.... The inclusion of more 'new' and 'constructed' weaponry like the Pipe Rifle and Pipe Pistol and Pipe Revolver (on their own legs, the overbearing demand to 'mod' was weird). That's about it, I guess.
It's technically a better RPG than Fallout Shelter? I'm honestly not even sure if that is true anymore.
Cats. Aside from that, id's improvements to the combat, the feel of power armor (not the fusion core thing), improvements to gun modding (which is to be expected for a sequel)
Unpopular opinion: I prefer the more realistic way NV handled gun modding and ammo making to fidgeting with all the tiny parts for days to get the desired results. It also bothers me that a lot of mods on your guns produce no cosmetic change.
Nothing wrong with an unpopular opinion as long as you can back it up properly and yeah, none of the weapons have proper cosmetic changes except for some scopes (that still look the same). At least the GRA add-ons from New Vegas added visible cosmetic changes (aside from making the guns more kick-ass).
For all intents and purposes the sole survivor can build a gun out of a tv, some streetlamps, a light bulb, and a stove. Come on. That coupled with the overall unintuitive (imho) crafting system makes for a very undesirable addition.
Typical bethesdrone. Incapable of being even slightly disappointed with anything bethesda does ever. How can one love everything about anything? You can't. I find something that bothers the shit out of me with everything I love.
- The Quickloot window ... My PoS garbage PC stuck everytime for 2-3 seconds in NV, when opening a loot container ... Thank god some guys did a mod version of this for NV - I really really really like the main menu music. Fuck me, right? - The overall updated / "modern" gunplay. Read somewhere, that Id software was consulted for this one.
I thought it be a good step to take after New Vegas weapon mods as an improvement to what you could do with your weapons there: Building your own guns. What I did not want was Bethesda's execution of such an idea. While I did like being able to alter a rifle to accept 50 caliber rounds (in an attempt to make an Anti-Materiel Rifle), I do agree that it was stupidly ridiculous that I could somehow use junk to make complex weapon mods like a recon scope with night-vision capabilities. EDIT: Besides, my actual one thing I don't hate about FO4 as per the thread was cats.
