New Arroyo mod thread

Wow! From the screenshots I saw that map looks SWEET! I'd love to hear more from these guys on how it is going or if there is anything I can do to help.
 
... I think I can say it's gonna be awesome! When I see you modders, being able to do such mod... I'm a bit ashamed of not being able to help. I think I'm gonna learn how to mod in the next months...

P.S=> I had a look at the screenshots...and it's very promising! Keep up the GW guys!
 
I suggest you to start with official fo2mapper. Good, hardworking map artist is underrated / needful stuff and I bet that many projects would greet 'em gladly. Including my mod thing (see link below).

Yup, that is correct, the reasons being many.

OK, so with this post I hope to get some things moving again.

The thing is, the original creators of the mod can no longer work on it.

We've got mapping done, a whole bunch of dialogues written, and most of the characters scripted. The scripting of largest and most difficult quests is still TBD.

We've also had an early alpha version, which had a number of already scripted locations, plus some things to be worked on.

Our weak point is the lack of documentation - any of the quest ideas etc. currently only reside in my head. But, they can be gotten out :)

So, if anyone wanted to pick up when we left off (with my help) I am looking for such a persons help. We need a good scripter, possibly several. Also, maybe someone to write dialogues and do some additional art would be handy.

I have salvaged the work done so far from Jargo, so I hope someone with knowledge of scripting could pick this up.

If you are interested in helping out with the mod (or just pretending so in order to see the mod Alpha version) please PM me.
 
Another lizardous question for Silencer - how big it will be? One big area, right? How many maps, NPCs, quests? It's fairly strange to me that you haven't managed any programmers during 3 long years (for a rather small mod). 8-)
 
Jesterka - while Jargo was on the project, it looked like he was progressing really steadily, but when he dropped out due to lack of time, work ground to a halt for last two years. The problem is as I said that practically only 3 people had discussed the mod and we have next to no documentation, so you would have to rely on my messages to know what needs to be done.

As for the magnitude, the mod had at least 4 larger maps with more NPCs and 5 smaller ones. Out of those, 2 large areas and 3 or so smaller are practically complete with dialogues, floats and some misc scripts, but a number of main quests and a throng of NPCs needs to be scripted. (This is for Chris too).

If you two are interested, i can show you what gives. As I said, I can provide you with the alpha to see both finished and unfinished locations.

As for art, well, this is open to your creativity :)
 
Just send me all what you have, if you don't mind. Especially properly written plot and area docs (or at least summary of NPCs, quests, some special cool shit etc). I know that the mod is going to follow Vault Dweller's north trip that is really juicy theme, but that's all and definitely not enough.

I'm not going to dig in your scripting/dlg writing problems, but at least I could give you quite advanced feedback, rethink of quests and provide some appropriate gfx from BGE artists. (that are insanely nimble... well, at least as regards modelling) I also might have a look at your maps and comment them as well, but according the several screens I guess here woundn't be much crap to alert. But as I said, no salvation - BGE, my dearest child, is constantly hungry and screaming. Just feedback. :)

Hell, these Arroyo-things totally confused my fussy mind. Surely we're talking about Chosen One, not the Vault Dweller. I feel so lame. :)

Weeeell, has my little lizard been to the place it was supposed to? ;)

We're still looking for qualified help, without it this mod is DEAD AND BUREN. :(
 
I hope that some gifted person will arrive soon to give the mod a push in the right direction , 'cause I do think this mod is worth a go.
