New Gameplay video

Also, why on earth did they release a video with such bad image quality ? Don't they take promoting their game a bit more seriously than that ?

It was uploaded by a user, as far as I know.

Ok. Then, if I were Todd or Pete, I would be really, really pissed right now because I don't think this video really does justice to their game...

The blinding effect when he exited the vault was pretty cool.

Not really immersive, but it was cool.

Oh, they probably are.

Bethesda is pretty stressed out when anything happens PR-wise that wasn't directly ordered by them.

And about open, empty worlds. While Stalker wasn't entirely open, its manner of 'emptiness' was quite well done. It felt like it was a pretty big world you were playing in, but it didn't feel empty. Neither did it feel overcrowded. Fine balance.

Perhaps the PC version will have shadows, though I doubt they'll actually add something once they've finished the console version.

Also, I hope they've got a flash-light in the game.

I'm getting a bit of the Stalker feel from Fallout 3. From what I've heard and what little I've seen, looks like the same mix of empty ruins to scavenge interspersed with firefights, with a little bit of travel in between. Did Oblivion on PC have shadows as opposed to the Xbox version? That'd be a nice thing to have, but it seems weird that the PC would get it and consoles wouldn't.

You can turn the brightness up on your PipBoy's display and it acts as a flashlight of sorts, more like a realistic interpretation of the light aura of the first games. It sounds pretty cool from the dev diary, but I don't think it's been show in any of the previews yet.

The world looks like one big garbage dump.
I totally agree and apparently "thermo"nuclear explosions dont burn wood but rather brake it into pieces.(wooden buildings and fences @ 1:52)
I very much disliked the whole baby popping out and falling into basket animation, it seemed stupid to me.
But what really failed for me in "oblivion with guns" was the dodge from a melee atttack, just moving out of the way with no stat consideration.

Me too :D
i think most people are going a bit over the top with all the analysing and such like. im impressed so far but know full well the only real way to properly tell is to play the game and then give an informed opinion. if its crap ill happily admit it, yet until its released im quite happy to be perched in a rather large oak tree with an optimistic cat who plays street fighter.
job done.

damn people find new games to bash besides Oblivion and Morrowind

I don't hear people bashing Morrowind all that much.

If people don't want big and empty, maybe the post-apocalyptic genre is not for you? Hm?

Yeah, go play Baldur's Gate or something.

Also, no shadows, that looks strange and breaks that 'immersion' they are talking about.

The floatboat had a cute little shadow...

Guys, how can anyone, honnestly, say that "this" looks pretty good ?

Well, in my case by not having any points of reference to speak of.

I truly hope that the music that's playing isn't what the ambient music is going to be.

Just pathetic.

Respect someone's opinion, just like we respect yours.

Saying that this game looks cool, it's just like some other people say it's not cool.
We have the same piece of information from Beth.

I would be looking forward to this game too, if it's not called Fallout...

I just watched the video (this was the first time that I saw fallout 3 gameplay, muted, I hate hearing that dude) and two things came to mind.

First, I saw the flying pistol hovering around and I thought: "Counter Strike", half of minute later the player started shooting and I thought: "Wow, this really sucks !".

I actually couldn't watch it until the end. I realised that the 3rd person isometric view, the turn based combat and all that other stuff that didn't made it into fallout3 were what I loved about Fallout.

I also learned that I really hate first person shooters. Last time I tried one was about 5 years ago and I thought that maybe with age and with this one being called Fallout, I could start liking them, maybe just a little. But no, it looks like I'm not old enough yet, or something, I still hate them.

VATS looks totally lifeless. I'm sure there will be some pretty neat effects with VATS but most of those slo-mo videos look really stale and boring. I like the idea of VATS but I'm glad we can skip the video sequences (read that somewhere iirc).

other than that, I like the video. I actually skipped the part of stepping out of the vault. I want to save that for when I play the game myself. the rest looks decent. a bit more interesting than the E3 video.

Those choirs were a "bit" Oblivion-esque.

Wow.

There's a surprise.

Why not recycle instead of having to waste money on originality?

Leaves more cash for bubble heads and lunch boxes!
