NFL 2010

He played a lot of short game and dink-and-dunk to begin the 2009 season too, with more running than there was in this game.

I'd love to gloat at the Vikings (seriously, their fans are the biggest retards ever), but I don't feel secure in it yet, not with the similarities. I won't be at peace until Favre is benched after throwing 15 INTs over 4 games or writhing on the floor with multiple knee injuries.

Perhaps then the nightmare will finally be over.

I agree it's too early to write off the Vikings and Favre. After that first TD they could've gone in the tank and gotten blown out, but the defense actually managed to contain the Saints offense fairly effectively. Favre had his ups and downs, but overall I thought he looked like a guy who skipped training camp. If he doesn't get killed he's going to improve as the season goes on and he meshes with the receivers.

I think Berrian looked like garbage though. He's never really been in synch with Favre for some reason. The Vikings definitely have a WR problem to overcome at this point. There's been some speculation locally that they might start playing rookie QB Joe Webb at WR just to fill in. That would be interesting.

Spot on, Vikes are still a top 3 NFC team until someone else steps up. Favre did pick the right team to come back to - great O-line, run game, and D.
You realize this now that you see all the other matchups across the league. Lot of mediocrity, especially on the west coast of both conferences.

Man, Pats D is going to avg. at least 20 pts allowed this year. They've become the Colts, minus a pass rush of any competence. Yuck.

5 minutes in and I hit my threshold for the goofy pre-game shows. They're all equally bad.

Is it worth 7 bucks a month for NFLN and RZ? I think I get some other sports shit too. Lost my free year of NFL Radio in my new car.

Man, that QB from Michigan is prolific - 900yds of offense and 5TDs in 2 games. Say hello to the NFL's next 1st round bust. Another "athletic" QB in a long line of poor man's Randall Cunninghams.

Ina game no one not Bucs or Browns fans care about, Bucs win! BUCS WIN! THEY HAVE A WINNING RECORD! WHAT THE FUCK???

I'm so happy right now. Gerald McCoy is looking really good, as is Mike Williams. The defense really showed up. The biggest concern is Freeman's thumb injury, though. He had a bunch of ugly, ugly passes - not bad decisions, just ugly ducks.

Texans beat the Colts? Is this the year they finally step it up and get to the playoffs? Arian Foster carrying them instead of Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub is something else, though.

Panthers look terrible, much worse than I expected. Matt Moore specifically looks ridiculously bad, I wonder how long it'll take for Clausen to get the nod now. The Giants, on the other hand, looked good.

Seahawks are killing the 49ers now. Just absolutely killing them. Alex Smith is back to his terrible self, and some of that is just the 49ers looking a lot worse than I expected - but the Seahawks still look really good. Now their health has to keep it up though, especially with Hasselbeck.

Eagles suck. Wow do they look bad.

Also, Suh had 1 sack which wasn't a sack but not affecting the play at all, except for being the closest guy when Cutler ran out of bounds. I wonder if this means Suh had a bad game or the Chicago O-line got a lot better, or a case of the box score not reflecting what actually happened in the game.

If Tampa could play Cleveland every week they would go 9-7 or maybe 10-6. Nice win though. I own Little Mike Williams in my other fantasy league and I'm happy with today's outcome.

It was foolish of GB to knock Kolb out of the game. Still, a solid win for the Pack. Looks like Grant may be out for a few games, but we'll see. It could be KREGG LUMPKIN TIME!

I watched that Detroit/Chicago game. What a comedy of errors. It's funny how everyone agrees Detroit is getting better, but when you actually watch them play you realize all that means is that they stink somewhat less than they did the last couple years.

Yeah, that's true. But last year we managed to lose to the Bills and Redskins. Beating the Browns is up up up!

It could be, except for the bit where Lumpkin is with the Bucs after you guys waived him.

What's up with Best's statline there? Was he that bad?

Also, how'd the Lions D-line look?

As meaningless a blowout as you can get. We're facing a string of shitty QBs (Smith, Bradford, Cutler, Cassell, Moore) in QWest and look for a lot of them to be driven to insanity by our DC and crowd.

We'll see how we do outside of the stadium.

Really? I didn't even notice that one. Kind of a strange move after picking up Blount.

Justin Harrell blew out his knee and is out for the season. I'd say that's just about the end for him. Poor guy is cursed.

Actually, it was the other way around. We got Lumpkin before Blount. Though I think Lumpkin's going to be cut now that Talib is coming back from suspension.

Lots of season-ending injuries this weekend. Makes me pretty happy with the Bucs' injury luck so far.

it was an ugly W for us, but a W nonetheless. i'll take it. but please, find a psychiatrist to calm Rodgers the fuck down. wth happened to "Cool Chico" yesterday? jaysus fuck.

also: i can't WAIT to watch the Jersey Rats get destroyed tonight, mwahahaha!

mostly ugly game for all the flags. Anyone got a count on this? The ravens are converting more fourth downs on jets penalties than anything else.

Well that was one of the worst jets games I've ever sceen, but they didn't win and they only gave up 10 points which makes me a happey FFP and Miami fan.

Jets offense is an atrocity. Ravens were hardly better, they just drew penalties better. Sanchez starting to look like an affable version of Matt Leinart, minus the college accomplishments.

Losing Jenkins again, that's really bad. For all the hype and bullshit, the best guys on the Jets are still the homegrown dudes - Mangold, Harris, Jenkins, Ellis, Revis, Brick.

Anyway, thanks to Ray-ray The Sandman for ending the agony with a bang.

I like those late-night west coast games too. I wish they did more of those.

Local word is that Logan Mankins will be back in a few weeks...nice.

As bad as Sanchez is, they need to let him throw the ball downfield more. When there's 40 seconds left in the game, you don't throw little pisser 4 yard plays over and over. And damn Dustin Keller for not paying attention to where the first down line was on the jets final play.

The Jets offense was awful, but their defense is still ferocious. Their rookie (Wilson?) made a ton of penalties especially but give him some time and we'll see what happens.

Still, I'm interested in seeing if the jets can do something better.

I wouldn't call this 'nice' exactly. More 'really fucking stupid'.
"Mankins reportedly called Kraft, the two had a talk and an apology was accepted. But 90 minutes before the contract was to be signed, the Pats evidently asked Mankins to make a public apology. He balked and became even more offended than before."

I don't know if it was a case of not letting him throw downfield or him moving to his checkdown option instead of taking the shot downfield.

Reportedly - meaning this is the version of events that the agent "leaked" to Adam Shefter for negotiating leverage, nuff said. Kraft says otherwise, but you'd expect him to. It's all part of doing the dance.

Better to lock up Moss I think, he of the questionable motor. Poor little fella', so insecure. He's worth locking up forevah.

Anyway, Mankins not as essential with Jenkins out of the picture now. Will need him against Ngata though.

He whiffed on those dump passes too. Sanchez is out of his depth with the rainbow pissing unicorns. He's another guy that seems to enjoy the trappings of being an NFL QB.
Lost in all the hype and bullshit of Hard Knocks, Callahan is probably the best coach on that team.

Those are two nasty Ds though, and clearly they can shut down any team's run game if they want.
Jets didn't even really fall apart until the last drive, they never really caved though.
Wilson did pretty good, he had good positioning and never got burnt.

I really like the rookie impact so far, great draft class all around. What the NFL really needs is that next generation of QBs to step up.

I thought we were in the middle of a superstar generation?

Tho when people used to say that they'd name players like Eli Manning, Jay Cutler and even Matt Cassel to go along with Matty Ice (who looked terrible), Philip Rivers (bAWWWWW) and Aaron Rodgers.
