NFL 2010

I think it has all of zero impact on the game itself, it probably serves to make the Jets look bad if anything. Who are they trying to convince, themselves?

Nice field left in the AFC, should be some epic playoff games. NFC I don't have a vibe about, don't trust any of those teams to make a consistently strong run.

How 'bout Auburn, sure got their money's worth from Cam Newton. :D

I'm more excited about Ravens/Steelers than any other game this year. I can't think of a better potential playoff matchup including Super Bowl. And if the Ravens win, Joe Flacco (go hens) will be the winningest road playoff qb in NFL history at 5-2

Well, at least it's entertaining.
More likely it's just Ryan trying to deflect attention away from his players, and unto him.

Dumbest stat ever.

This is genius:

Yea verily. PITT/BAL is going to make Stalingrad look like gay day at Disneyland. Brutal, primordial fight to the finish. I think I might actually wear a helmet for my own safety.

And the best part is, the winner will likely be spent and broken for the AFCC game.

Don't f- with Ray Lewis...he'll cut ya!

WTF is with stiff-arming Rodney Harrison?

Old Spice. Never ceases to amuse. I was referring more to the whole "football is war" inappropriate analogies. That was Lewis wasn't it? I forgot.

Much more relevant

Also heh. NFL regulating is funny.

EDIT: Green Bay is scary good

GO PACK GO!!!

Sam Shields is the next Tramon Williams.

I want to cheer for Seattle, but I have to admit a Bears/Packers NFC Championship game at Soldier Field would be epic.

That Wes Welker "foot" press conference was classic. Way to beat the Jets at their own game.

With the Steelers winning and Falcons losing I'm automatically rooting for the NFC in the Super Bowl now. Fuck the Jets, fuck the Pats, fuck the Steelers.

Also yeah, Falcons suck. Fuck them too.

And holy shit Flacco, 125 yards passing? Really? Jesus.

Also, Rodgers is ridiculously good.

Pats getting owned. Defense looks bad, and Brady can't do shit against these coverages - taking coverage sack after coverage sack. That's unexpected.

So yeah. Chokers.

Ugh, there go the clear Superbowl favourites then. Jeesh what a bad showing. Though to be honest, the Pats O against the Jets D was some of the best football I've seen all year. The other way around, not so much. The Jets are still terrible, but man did they handle the Pats.

Bears suck ass too. Seahawks beat themselves at least as much as the Bears beat us.

Looking forward to Packers-Steelers Superbowl.

Last night's game was bonersville. Today was pretty WTF?REaly? but seriously. Not a team I could possibly pretend to be scared of right now. If the Pack lose it's because of a meltdown and nothing else.

Pats blew a golden opportunity to the goddmamn Jets. Their D wasn't going to take them deep anyway. Worst part isn't them losing so much as the Jets yapping for another week, ugh.

1:1 favorites to win the SB.

'k?
I really don't have any say in the odds, but this is exactly why they actually play the games instead of just giving the Lombardi to the team with the best Sabermetrics. Kind of a moot point, but even assuming the Pats won the AFC, I couldn't see their D managing Green Bay, Atlanta or Philly without the weather to help them. Defense is still a WIP. Nice run for a young team that wasn't supposed to break into double-digit wins.
Anybody want to trade for a 2x "Pro-bowl" FS?

As far as Silver, I think it's a little premature to say that one game was a changing of the NFL guard. The Jets won a great game, good on them. It was just a divisional playoff game, you don't get shit for winning that, not even a fancy t-shirt.
When you play in NYC, even getting to SBs and Championship games doesn't mean shit. When was the last time anyone heard Jim Fassel's name mentioned? Holmes spanked the Vikes 41-0 in the NFCC game and then...never a peep. And the Jets don't even measure up to them yet.

I don't think the brashness and shit talk have much of an impact during a game. Jets won because of awesome secondary scheme/execution. One game is not really a referendum on shit talking vs. boring teams. The Jets trophy case is pretty bare and dusty to start coronating them, besides I think the Steelers might have something to say next week.

edit:
How in the world is Mike Florio given such a large, corporate forum to disseminate slimy shit like this?
Aaron Rodgers has a lot to learn about where his money comes from
The rumor-mongering and gossiping is one thing, I get that, even if most of it is usually titillation and not substance.
This is some of the most presumptuous, self-righteous bullshit I've ever read.

Also Pack fans, scoot over. I'm with you guys for the rest of the way. Fuck the Jets, Bears and Steelers.

Plenty of room on the bandwagon. Without the Pack there's no one left for me to root for either.

At least the Jets seem to have stopped jabbering now that the Pats game is over.

Mel Kiper has the Pats taking Wisconsin DE J.J.Watt with their second 1st round pick. Interesting.

It's also uncalled for, as that woman is apparently at the airport every chance she gets and Rodgers gave her an autograph the week before.

Florio already apologized for this shit, though.

Is it? D-Line depth is pretty bad for the Pats, and they can't really get to the QB either. I think Watt projects most as a 3-4DE instead of pass-rushing OLB.

Crom help us all if they win this week. SB Media week will have all the understated nuance of a Wrestlemania promo.

I doubt it will do anything to curtail more of the same. That's Florio's calling card.

Going on for a few years now too.
Their secondary is even worse, and 3rd down rate league worst.
You can't replace Willie McGinest, Ty Law, Rodney Harrison, Bruschi, Vrabel, Richard Seymour and Asante'ei Samuelz with rookies, undrafteds and UFL players and expect the same results from a few years ago.
None of those players have been replaced by an equal or better player. Simply not enough horses to run like before.

Getting Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden back would be welcome, I can almost remember when they used to play.

I think mock drafts are kind of useless with the Patriots, they'll likely maneuver up or down from where they are anyway. My perpetual draft question is when do they trade up and target an elite prospect instead of loading up on value guys?

At least you have young, promising talent at DB. Can't really say the same for D-line or pass-rushers.

I don't think the Pats will ever trade up and target an elite prospect. Doesn't seem like their M.O. Belichick likes volume and seems to draft guys who love football over pure talent.
