NFL - The Thread, '08.

I don't know whether this has become big news yet or not since I've been out of the loop so far today, but apparently Tom Brady got an infection in his knee from his first surgery, and had to have a followup procedure. He was walking around after the first operation, but now he's on crutches or in a wheelchair.

It may impact his rehab, but there's no concrete information on that yet.

heard about that...but couldn't quite decide if it makes a difference since they were thinking training camp next year at best for him.

what has absolutely stunned me though...is that Al Harris is already active at Packers practice after that spleen injury.

GO PACK GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus christ! completely destroyed.

I seem to remember ALLOT of Packers fans here writing the season off two games ago... DID I NOT TELL YOU, DON'T GIVE UP!?

I'm off to see if Justin Forcett and Seneca Wallace does anything cool for the Seahawks! Even if they lose it makes for some amazing athletic plays!

I was telling 'em the same thing.

The AFC dominance is officially dead as well. Hello, NFC's dominant period.

(though the Titans are good enough to beat anyone in the NFL. I hate the Titans)

Our season is over though, M :(

COWBOYS SUCK. COWBOYS SUCK.

NFC West keeps killing the NFC East.

I think we need to give the Rams a bit of credit on that win, tho'.

Packers frustrations? hey! three games in a row losing? so i'm emotional!

yeah? and who called THAT one, huh?

Hines Ward is a bad, bad man.
I never thought it possible for a WR to be such a complete and total badass.
I bet his fine this week is $50K for breaking that kid's jaw.

edit:
Here's the hit, err infraction.
See ya next year!

They should just slot him in as a strong safety from now on.

Also, lol @ the massive scoring in vikes-bears.

More lol @ Raiders-Jets. I've never seen two teams so desperate to give the other team the win. It was like a "no, you take it!" game where in the end the Raiders failed to lose. Poor Raiders.

More lol @ Favre alienating himself from the Pack locker room. Best thing he's done for the team all season, as well, you know he can't have a healthy influence on the Pack this year.

Also, the poor Saints don't deserve to be in the spot they're in. Poor guys.

Also also, curious to see what the Pats do. It's amazing but their division is so bad they still have a shot at the play-offs.

Also also also, that was a harsh sandwich neckbreaker on Ike Hilliard. I always hate to see the classy vets get hit like that. Hope he's ok.

i've seen the articles all over the place today. sheesh. you never know when to believe these kinds of articles, but if it's true. fucking hell. let the man rot in Jersey i say. also, best quote from the article:

“Obviously it didn’t work out too well for them,” Wells said. “We were still able to go out and move the ball on them and win the game.”

Also, the poor Saints don't deserve to be in the spot they're in. Poor guys.

yeah, wtf? i'd-a-thought cool-Brees would have taken them further so far? and now Bush is out for a month??? damn.

I doubt it's true, though as I've said before I have little respect for Favre as a person, and his me-first attitude that seems to have driven him the past few years, including letting the entire Pack organisation bob along on his yearly retirement drama.

But it doesn't matter if it's true or not, if it helped the Pack locker room move on from Favre faster then all the better. Down the line, that kind of stuff prevents unnecessary drama.

Seattle is giving Holgrem the bestest send-off ever... poor guy... Yet I feel very little remorse for how poorly Seattle has been playing.

They're too inconsistent (like the whole league isn't ). The only reason Cassel isn't an unmitigated disaster is because they keep him on such a short leash. At best he's a game manager, but even then the D, especially the secondary is pretty lax. Then again, except for Indy, Pitt and Denver, the rest of their schedule is really weak.
If they can split the series with Buffalo, they could win the division, they'd be one-and-done in the playoffs anyway though so what's the difference? Better off to tank it and get a better draft pick.
Maybe you could draft, hmmm, I don't know, a BACKUP QB?

I really don't know what Vegas is smoking giving them 3 points over the Broncos tonight. The Broncos have had the Pats number for a long, long time.

I know it's not NFL, but God bless the SEC.
Watch how he scrapes down and squares up.
Didn't wrap him up though :naughty:

For those that did not see the super tackle during the Seattle, Tampa bay game...

...I seriously thought the guy died... I have never seen a player get hit so hard that he was instantly knocked out cold... In fact, he was hit so hard Lofa wound up with a concussion and didn't play the rest of the game.

Yeah, that was me, and I was wrong. The Pack did struggle, but not for as long as I thought they would. There are a couple of reasons why. The young players who had to fill in for the injuries improved faster than I thought they would, and the guys who weren't injured picked up the slack better than I thought they would. The silver lining to the injuries is that guys like Tramon Williams are getting needed experience. Also, Nick Collins and Charles Woodson are playing better than they ever have. They each have four interceptions, which ties them for the most in the NFL. The interior of the o-line is improving as the season progresses, too (very similar to last year), and Grant is finally getting healthy.

Now that they've made it to their bye-week, the situation could improve even more. It Justin Harrell plays well, it'll be a big help for the run defense.

It's easy to pile on Dallas these days, but you can see how that team was a disaster waiting to happen. Their greatness isn't based on a winning team system or formula, but on a collection of superstars individually outperforming the opposition. As long as they're all performing, it works. When a few of them aren't playing, it all falls apart.

Nice king's ransom they paid for Roy Williams, too.

Reminds me of the mid 90's Mariners baseball team... Some of the best that the 20th century had to offer played for the M's... yet, they could barely make it to the playoffs. Then they rid themselves of those folks and got team players, shatter the record books for the most games won in baseball history... Then they go on a huge slump and still have yet to make it to the world series... BLAST!
