While I will regularly play Major Max, he's not a character per se but more of an NPC.

Think of this more as cooperative story telling than roleplay and the campaign will go better.

Thor would be considered a Sniper extraordinarre.
Who if if he did not get you from long range, he would get you up close and personal. Thorgrimm was never one who tried to impress people with words, he always let his actions speak for him. A firm believer in the saying "Deeds, not words define the man." He will always let the other fools try and bullshit people.

Kevin DeShane opened his eyes slowly and tried to set up, but every nerve in his body was screaming in pain. Like he had lain on his arm then it went to sleep when the blood was cut off. Then the blood flow was restored and feeling returned.
"Son of a Bitch!", How long have I been here? He thought to himself.
As soon as the pain quieted down to a dull roar he looked over his surroundings, and noticed the bodies of the other Rangers along with the remains of the caravan they were protecting.
"What the hell happened?" He asked to no one in particular.
Then it hit him like a block of stone to the forehead. The Master's army of Mutants, floaters, and centaurs had ambushed them in a pass in the Sierra Nevadas. He had been hit early in the fight by a blow to the head, and went unconscious. Evidently as the Rangers were killed by the mutated horrors they had fallen on top of him.
"That is how i survived" he thought with a heavy heart.
He began to check himself over and found besides a nasty welt and lump on his head he was fine.
"From the look's of thing i am the only survivor."

Then the memory hit him in the head like a supersledge! He felt like somebody had just kicked him in the balls and tried to pull them off!
Cathy!! Kevin Shouted.
He ran to the wagon that had housed his wife and 2 year old son.
"Oh My God!"
Exclaimed Kevin as he fell to his knees with his sons teddy bear in his hands. All he could think about was his wife and 2 year old son, and began to cry.

After what seemed like an eternity the sobs began to fade, and the titanium in his soul began to assert control. He wiped his eyes and said his farewell to his lost family. Kevin then began to take stock of his surroundings and began to gather his belongings and weapons.
"These people need a descent burial" he thought to himself with great sadness in his heart.
He then began to bury the dead. If anything had interrupted him at that time there is no doubt they, be it man or beast, would have died. It took the better part of two days to bury the dead and gather up what he could, then destroy what was left. So no raiding scumbag would disturb these honored dead.

He then began to get his gear ready for the trip.
After completing the task of making sure "momma", his Great grandfathers's war weapon handed down through the ages was in working order he checked on his other gear. The deuce gear was beyond repair as the webbing had been torn to shreds. The only thing left was the metal frame. His K-Bar as was expected still razor sharp and untarnished. His Desert Eagle was in need of a cleaning, but that was expected. Of course his combat armor was in pristine order.

His Great Great Grandfather had been a fan of the old Norse sagas, but was thrilled by the derring do of one of Norse Gods, Thor. So in honor of his great great grandfather who had survived the war, had become Thor, Kevin DeShane had died with his family. Now only Thor the avenger was left .

Welcome all. I have written the story so it's a fairly large company. I suggest that the players begin to PM each other so that they start forming small groups.

Major Max has been a central character, but I am going to pull back and let Albatross do more management.

Remember there is enough here so that you can be any type of wasteland traveler or even a BOS soldier. Open it up and have fun.
 
this weekend(and all weekends) I probably won't post as I will be at my dads

so please do not kill me off and if needed for an important event just hijack my character for a while

I think we should stick with the optional 5 days no post and your character may be killed off. This is not a hard and fast rule, but it would be a good idea to keep players involved.
 
OK, a couple of note (thorgrimm these are not directed at you, but just general obeservations for posters to consider).

(1) remember this is post-apocalptic. There really shouldn't be vehicles (there were none in Fallout 1 remember) but ok. More importantly stuff shouldn't just happen because it's convenient.

(2) Characters should not be supermen. They should be vulnerable to attacks, have human weaknesses and desires, virtues and faults. Your characters should show some personal and physical limitations and vulnerabilities so they can be defeated in battle. Characters that are invulnerable are not much fun.

(3) Take the initiative but don't rush the story. At this point the story should be opening up potential pathways which characters can travel. Don't go closing those story lines too soon. Good cooperative stories is like good sex, take your time, open it up, enjoy it, take the initiative sometimes, and make it what you want.

(4) Good enemies should be cultivated. Don't kill a good enemy too fast. Better to have a nemisis than a strawman you can kick down anytime you want.

(5) On enemies, let them win a little too. Rarely are good battles one sided.

(6) A good post moves the story forward somehow. It might be an action or a piece of dialogue, but it moves the plot in a direction. The "And so Joe had a smoke, and bored with nothing to do, went off and masturbated" is bullshit. This is not some post-modern literary mind fuck of a story, but a pulpish action story. Pulp is action, and action is movement, is doing something meaningful.
 
I think I've been watching mad max too much and created the vehicles based on that. PM me with anything else Welsh.

Now, as for vehicles: since this is the first mission we can allow vehicles, but in the other threads, the criteria will be more strict (in other words: things have to be there for a reason - and we mean a very good one)

As for the rest, go ahead, and keep in mind why we play this: so have fun!

Oh, btw ppple, with my PC have him be somewhat slow and easily winded, since Vault pple wouldnt run that often.
 
I destroyed the vehicles as they didn't fit the shortly after fallout setting. Fallout 2 maybe but this time setting isn't quite appropriate like welsh said.

Remember to have the .50 cal salvaged from the 18 wheeler, and have a strong MG PC or NPC use it.
 
Well, while vehicles don't fit fallout 1, hell, if you want to do them, ok. Waves of bikes, buggies and an 18 wheeler seems a bit excessive, but it might be possible to find someone who knows how to make a fusion engine, and it doens't take much to run a dune buggy.

I think the next step will be to set off.

By bringing in raiders, caravan guards and BOS troopes, the story is pretty open to new characters joining without a lot of the "does it fit the story" problems elsewhere.

The group will probably begin pursuing the Mutants, finding stragglers and perhaps even run into some Mutant reguards.

Also I am leaving it open whether the mutants continue to pursue Thorgrimm's character or not. Keep Krogan for awhile. It's good to have a bad guy that keeps you on your toes and occassionally wins. Likewise Corr's mutants are a match for the BOS crew, but there are other Mutants, bases, strongholds, etc.

Another piece of advice for all you new guys and gals. Try to develop a character thats feels human, with a history, likes and dislikes, problems and fears, and above all a personality. These can make the story much more interesting and make it seem like your character is a person with a role in a complex world of differing people. Remember that you do have the room to experiment with character elements.
 
hey guys i'm back from my little festivalthingy and i'll make an entry in this story some time tonight (CET). This is more or less what i came up with inbetween gigs (still a bit rough around the edges, but i think you'll understand if i say that making up an RP character isn't your main concern during a 4 day rock festival :twisted: ):


First name: Mike (aka Scorpio)
Last name: unknown
Race: Human, whitey with a tan
Age: 27
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 100 kg (but not one ounce of fat)
Hair: Bald, dark brown/black goatee
Eyes: Brown

Fysical appearance: A real bruiser or brute. His body is filled with tattoos which reflect his character. On his left (upper) arm you can find a big swastika, on his right (upper) arm you can find a skull with a dagger stuck through it with a snake crawling out of the eyes. On his back he has a huge radscorpion that is ready to lash out. On the left side of his chest (just above his heart) he has a confederate flag. When he makes 2 fists, the tattoo on his knuckles read: Fuck Pain. For every gunshot or other serious wound he has got in his life he has put a tattoo next to it stating the calibre of the bullet that hit him.

Clothing: He wears a light woodland camo army pants, a green flakvest with protective collar, green army backpack, black brahmin leather army boots. Knife worn on his left hip, pistol holstered on his right hip. Partially for show, he wears a bulletbelt (sling) going from his left shoulder to his right hip. This is mainly as backupammo when he has trouble reaching for a full pack and for intimidation purposes. The ammo does not cover his right shoulder so he is still able to easily put up his SAW against his shoulder to take proper standing aim if needed. Usually he wears nothing underneath his flakvest, the wastes are usually hot enough as it is. In the rare moments of bad weather or storm he has a green poncho to protect him from the elements if needed.

Character: A jack of all trades: he has had many jobs and he will take any if they involve voilence. He has been caravan guard, raider, slaver, gun for hire,... He has no remorse for any distasteful acts he has done in the past: he has killed children during raids, he has murdered people just for looking funny at him. His idea of a fun night is being involved in a good brawl, cashing in the spoils of a raid or cleaning his guns. He has a fetish for belgian weaponry. He absolutly adores his FN M249 SAW. He is a notorious racist, who views all other lifeforms except white humans as animals and he uses them that way. Mutants, ghouls, hispanics, blacks,... their lives are worthless to him and he just might kill them off just for the fun of it.

ST 9 Excellent: He views his body as the most destructive tool he can find and loves it. He works out a lot and he brawls almost on daily basis...
PE 7 Very good: All his senses are finely tuned for battle.
EN 8 Great: He has given and taken a lot of beatings, his body has learnt to deal with it.
CH 2 Bad: He says what he thinks and most of the time he isnt thinking nice thoughts... He trusts no one and likes no one. He only respects the authority of the strongest.
IN 4 Fair: He has a good understanding of military tactics and such, but it is obvious that he is a nitwit on most other subjects.
AG 9 Excellent: Fighting has hightened his senses and therefor his reactions are lightning fast.
LK 8 Great: A raider, brawler, hired gun that lives this long in the wastes without getting capped has surely something to do with luck.

Gifted - Bruiser
Main skills: Big guns, Unarmed and Outdoorsman.

Other skills: First aid, Small guns and Demolition.

PS: In no way do i support any views of this character, but since i've got 2 farely good natured characters going (and this is generally also how i play the game) i'd like to try something else. This is somewhat against my nature but i'll give evil a shot in this RP.
