Opinions on the Elder Scrolls

Hey i aint saying all old games are shit. Morrowind is tho. I like little big adventure for example and that game is basically polygon: the game.

With all bethesda games the cons outweigh the pros. But with morrowind I don't care. Just something about it I like.

Graphics arent important. Art design is. Morrowind imo is bad at both.

I always felt that Morrowind's art design was great. It's definitely unique and recognizable.

You mean you can't run and shoot at the same time?

Oh its definitely recognizable. That doesnt mean it looks good though.

And you jest but you actually cant run and shoot at the same time in LBA.

It certainly looks dated, but given the technical limitations I'd definitely say that it does look good. The different architectural styles (especially among the Dunmer Great Houses), the creature designs, the landscape design...
I don't quite get your gripe with the art design. I mean, it's all down to taste of course, but you kinda made it sound like Morrowind's art design was more or less objectively bad, like, critical faults in internal logic, being derivative, pointless or just plain boring.

Im saying that just cause aomething looks unique and is recognizable doesnt mean it is 'objectively' good. 'I' dont care for it.

Going on-topic for a moment; never played Arena or Daggerfall (too young to play), loved Morrowind (it even helped me realize that I preferred fulfilling RPGs over quick gratification games), mixed about Oblivion and Skyrim. With BGS's track record, I fear for TES 6 and how much it will dumb down further (and Elder Scrolls Legends looks more like a duller Hearthstone with an Elder Scrolls skin).

Adding to the discussion: I think the reason why Morrowind is beloved because it made a rather unique fantasy world that encouraged exploration and had proper progression (for an Elder Scrolls game at least) while some of its writing was a bit more nuanced when compared with current Bethesda junk(like whether the Nerevarine is the Chosen One simply due to prophecy or circumstance that the Nerevarine fulfills the prophecy's list of achievements while following the prophecies terms). Simply being forced to rely on directions from a local villager to find bandits harassing their town is more immersive and interesting, for me at least, than following a map marker to random camp of the day(like most modern Bethesda games).

I can understand that Morrowind is not for everyone (everyone's got a different taste and all).

As much as I dislike Bethesda nowadays, I do acknowledge that their past selves could put some effort into a decent game that still had deal-breaking flaws from annoying bugs (like the floor disappearing and killing me when I re-spawned), technical limitations and dated graphics.

There the thread is! Picked up Sexlab recently, and as I play, I tend to agree with this guy

The modding community's efforts is hell of a diamond, indeed. How is that even possible since F4's one is in a friggin' hybernation state, and Skyrim is not that far, even though it's better like 2.0x times, considering how awful FO4 really is, that's not far.

After spending a bit more time with Arena, I can safely say I enjoyed my few hours with it, loved it in fact.
But I doubt it's a game I can go back to.

I still enjoy Oblivion and even Skyrim, but the quality started to drop after Morrowind.

Ugh... Arena with it's cookie cutter plot and world.

He bears the responsibility (as one of the still working at BGS from the original crew) for every single tell me lies (where's my mainland morrowind in morrowind?) and piss poor gameplay:

that's YOUR quote.
Oh yeah... well fuck Todd.

The gameplay of the Elder Scrolls including Morrowind is absolute fucking shit.

Got to be honest I love playing with GOT mod. Dunno why but makes the game much much better
