Patches for Fallout 2

Other thing: I was in Modoc today and I have given Cornelius his gold watch back. I said it was in the sewer and the quest was completed. The thing is he didn't took the watch. Did someone else encountered this? Did this happened in the 1.02 version?


I had a different problem with this. I gave Cornelius' friend the watch, the quest was marked as completed. Then I talked to Cornelius, and he wanted me to get his watch back. Since the watch is gone now, another watch quest entry in the PipBoy is marked as uncompleted. I think the main problem is that Cornelius' watch quest wasn't taken out of his dialogue tree when the quest was completed differently.
 
So is there a DEN Savegame fixer?

I got so far, but never went to Den yet, and now my game won't load.

DENBUS1.sav or something... Is there a utility? Or a fix of some sort?

And what files are affected?

Are there only external files or is the main file changed too?

To dalponis: I don’t think there’s a way to fix this but I could be wrong.

To jona0: This patch fixes some bugs, adds missing endings for Gecko and Vault 13, changes some maps so they look better (adds some unused art). The patch consists of some files from the \data folder and the fallout2.exe file. Oh and you can get WinRAR here: http://www.rarlab.com. :)

data folder is no problem, but are the changes in the .exe needed?
And can someone please convert it to stuffit or at least zip format ?
No, I cannot use winrar (I am hardly able to use winzip....)!

and by the way: Are there maps/mods availaible for "Abbey/EPA / Tribes"?

The .exe files are those from the 1.02 versions so I just implemented them... well... cause there are from a newer version. :)

About the .rar format: I said Odin to compress it to .zip but did he listen me? No, of course not. We'll make a FEV pool in his house so he'll have a surprise when he get's back from holiday. :wink:

The Abbey mod (made by Skynet and ShadowBird) is available here. I don’t know of any Primitive Tribe mod.

As for the EPA: Along with Deadlus, Jargo and Xarafaxz we’re working on the EPA mod so you'll play it soon. When? I have no idea. :lol:

Oh and WinRAR is better than WinZip. :)
 
I've finished Fallout2 with 1.05 patch few days ago. During that playing I founded four bugs:

1. If player chooses a dialog option to sleep with Davin or Miria in Modoc, screen fades to the black AND stays black very often. Game doesn't actually crash (you can still hear the music), but the only option is to restart computer.

2. Trash Can Band in New Reno doesn't sing any songs. They do in the editor, but not in real game. Band is located on the same map as golden globes studio, near the exit grid to virgin street.

3. This one is rather a missing feature: Robots with rocket launcher and minigun, use only their rocket launcher . They have attack animation for the minigun however, so you could give miniguns for them in the next patch, or atleast some of them would happily take an advatance of minigun power.

4. Not really a bug, but the slot machine that McGee is playing in New Reno is missing a special slot machine script (NIMCGSLT.INT).
 
I too just completed the game with 1.05 installed. :)

1. This happened to me on 1.02 too. :) I didn't sleep with either of them now because my charisma was too low.

2. I spotted this. I didn't do nothing to them so I don't know what causes it.

3. We shall see...

Hey you know the treasure quest in brokenhills right ?
well I did that quest find an huge amound of (spoiler ahead maybe)






















bottlecaps....
But with patch 1.05 I only got 1 bottle cap instead of the 10k ...... gee I feel very rich now.
Just wanted to let you know about this. So far no huge bugs in 1.05. good job guys
 
From what I remember you always get one bottlecap in your inventory even with the game saying that you have 10000.
 
I did get 10000 caps all the times when I did that quest.
This would be the first time I sow it happen
 
And I did only get 1 bottlecap on the 1.02 version. :)

I didn't change nothing regarding those caps. But it's a good idea to change the script so you'll receive 10000 caps. 8)
 
1.05 problems

-Brotherhood Bases in the Den and NCR are now equipped
I went to both Den and NCR and there doesn't seem to be anything there (no way to go to a level 1 or something like in SF)
- Party Members now change thier appearance when wearing armor
Doesn't work? All my guys have hardened power armor and they look the same as before, as well as if I give them any other armor.
- Drinking Gamma Gulp Beer and Roentgen Rum will now radiate you (5 and 10 rads)
I have tried this and doesn't seem to work.
- Adv. Power Armor MKII now weights 40 pounds
It weighs 50 pounds... not fixed?

I would also like to mention something that needs to be fixed:
-The unlimited money bug : When you get uranium ore from Broken Hills, and you get the guy to refine it, you can get $1500 everytime if you let him keep it and then talk to him again.

If I spot any other problems, I'll let you know.

Make sure that the .pro files in the data\proto\items and data\proto\critters are set to Read only. That should fix the booze and armor problem.

Party members change thier appearance when wearing armor. Trust me. I've completed the game day ago with Sulik in power armor and Vic in combat armor mkII. Everything worked.

The BoS bases in the Den and NCR now have some lockers with stuff. I didn't added an elevator down like in SF.

I know about the unlimited cash bug. Will look into the script.
 
New Game

I found that whenever a fix didn't really work, don't use your old save games... In fact, delete them and remove them completely!

Then start a new game. That is how I got it working great for me and others.
 
That's right.

But you don't have to delete your savegames and start from the beginning. Just load a savegame that you have before you first entered the location (Enclave reactor room for an example), install Update 1 and enter it. You should all be fine.
 
Hey, Skynet. Just so you know, your Abbey Mod doesn't work with patch version 1.05. All the files are in their proper folders. I even manually added the abbey location to the original 1.05 City.txt file. When I try to load the game, I get the error "wmInArea - Error loading City.txt".
 
Still having problems

I unzipped the 1.05 patch again, took out my saved games, set all the .pro to read-only, started a new game and still having these problems:
1. Party members don't change appearance when wearing armor.
2. No lockers inside the BoS bases in NCR and Den.

But the booze thing, does give me radiation now.

I would also like to know where do I find crazy joe? I looked all over VC and can't find him?
