Patches for Fallout 2

To SkynetV3:

Maybe you need the city limit patch installed?

To CarpeDiem-:

I don't know what causes it - I never had this kind of problems. Crazy Joe should be to the right of Cassidy's bar.

Problems Solved!

I finally solved my problems, and maybe others can gain from this:
I reinstalled fallout 2 and installed the 1.05 patch and everything works fine. w00t :D
This leads me to conclude that 1.02 patch installed was the problem.
Thanks Celestial for your fine work, now I can appreciate it.

Hey, Skynet. Just so you know, your Abbey Mod doesn't work with patch version 1.05. All the files are in their proper folders. I even manually added the abbey location to the original 1.05 City.txt file. When I try to load the game, I get the error "wmInArea - Error loading City.txt".

I have 1.05 installed and it works just fine with Abbey Mod. You get that error message if don't have city limit patch installed.

I have 1.05 and City Limit and Abby mod too.

Sorry to say, but what is the point ot the Abby mod? You just get a bunch of monks that do nothing and a few books/stealthboy/robe

Also, what is with the crazy guy in Vault City?

The Abbey is the location that should be in the game but the designers didn't include it (along with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Primitive Tribe). Along with some other guys from FMC I'm now working on the EPA mod and when we finish we'll upgrade the Abbey mod.

About that guy in VC: Never played Fallout 1? Don't remember Ian? Yes, that's right! That old shoot-me-in-the-back dude is here. A little older but who cares. If you talk to him right he'll give you a leather armor. He is too one of the things that wasn't added to the final version of the game. If you look at the Fallout Bible it would be good if IPLY would release something like "Fallout 2 - Missing Things" CD. The thing is they would never do this so I'm trying to include those things when I can.

Is there some way I can get either
a) the patch -without- ammo changes
or more likely
b) a single patch just to make NPCs change depending on thier armor

I don't really care for the ammunition changes making firearms a good deal more powerful than 1.02, but the rest of the changes make this hard to pass up.

thanks, woo.

Just use the B-team mod instead.

You were both right Celestial and Skynet. I just stupidly ASS-umed that the city limit patch was included. Fallout 2 now starts dandily.

Thats very nice thing to do :)
With all those new mod/patches makes me play fallout over and over again. And seeing the game as a "hard to mod game" the modders must be true fans indeed.

Are you going to add the primative tribe aswell. I cant get enough of the missing stuff. It was great to see Ian again in F2. Is there any future for suliks sis ? was see captured by slavers or was it the enclave ? There arnt any scripts for suliks sis right ?

Take your time with the new patch. I looking forward to see the EPA and the other features

keep up the good work guys

a) you would need to remove some .pro files from the data\proto\items folder. Those are: 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 95, 111, 163, 357, 358, 359. 360, 363.
b) yep. Just use the B-Team mod.

Well the Primitive Tribe is a different story. No one would like to take care of it because it would require making tents... and everyonw hates that. :) But maybe we'll take care of it after the EPA&Abbey project. I don't know about Sulik's sis. I think there aren't any scripts for her but we'll work something out. 8)

Celestial,
Can you include all these detailed infos in a Help.txt file in your future patches? That will help clear up a lot of things for us Fallout players, besides saving us time in reposting such similar questions.

Also, it will help if you could tell us all the EXACT changes instead of...
" and lots of other minor changes "
" and many other things "
etc etc, you get my meaning. It will clear up a lot of things for me and everyone else.

I don't hate tents anymore :) I can work on Primitive Tribe map after we finish EPA if you want.
Okay. :D But first let's finish EPA and the Abbey.

I'll make some FAQ section in the 1.06readme.txt file for the next patch, no problem. :)

And about the minor changes & fixes: Those are mainly spelling mistakes, map corrections and all that. There are tons of them in Fallout 2. We'll see...

Well us FO2 players would really appreciate that :O)
These mistakes and map corrections might seem too detailed or insignificant to be mentioned but there are geeks out there to whom these puny things matter to them :O)

Oh, maybe you can integrate the City Limit Remover with your patch as well, so that it is run when you install it.
Also break up the 1.02d patch file (patch000.dat) into parts and put them into the Data folders when installing. That way we won't even need patch000.dat at all, and it would perhaps make life much more easier if anyone wants to install further mods.

And I agree with some of them that you should consider removing the dog tag from the dead enclave soldier. Replace it with a couple of Stims or some EC ammo (but without any guns!). It just seems silly to find a dog tag there, and then a similar one in the raiders cave.

hi,i own the french version of fallout (wich was really buggy and without children) and i wonder if there is a french version of the unnoficial patch or if the uk patch will work on the french version?

City Limit Patch: Okay, I'll include it.

The 1.05 is (and 1.06 will be) in that format.

Enclave dude: Good idea. :) I added the dog tags cause I just wanted to add something there and the tags just comed to my mind.

There are just the PL and US\UK versions.

But you can install the UK version of the 1.05 (don't forget the Update 1) without the \data\Text folder so the language will not be changed (but the text fixes will not be included that way).

I just downloaded it, and I cant unzip it.

I'm going to try downloading it from a mirror.

and for the 1.06... would it be possible to add extra boxing matches?
