Patches for Fallout 2

ok one little more question:
i have the 1.02d french update installed must i reinstall fallout without it before installing the unnoficial patch?

(and also does someone know why uk get an 1.02e patch and rest of the world i stucked at 1.02d?)

yeah, I downloaded it from the mirror you or someone posted earlier in this thread.

I used ZipZap and it worked fine.

im going to finish the game regularly again before I update it

would it at all be possible to compress the files that were updated/changed into a .dat file?

then you could just use fame. either deselect the patch000 and select the unnoficial one, or just name the 1.05 update as patch000.dat

then you wouldnt have to reinstall it, right?

*doenst know a whole lot about all of this*

Yes. You must re-install the game and apply 1.05 after the installation.

Beats me. They have probably made it so people can distinguish the versions.

Then you should be the person who will happily test the EPA and the Abbey when they will be finished since those locations will be in the 1.06. :)

EDIT:

Anyone knows how to change the version number in the game's main menu? I know that this should be done somewhere in the fallout2.exe file.

These robots DOES use their minigun's, at least in enclave oil rig. I didn't note this before, because it was my first time when I attacked these robots in enclave oil rig.


I also have two suggestions:

Playing "Tragic Card" game could give you Tragic Card addiction.

Drinking beer or booze could give you eventually alcohol addiction.

I need some help. I need a list of places where you can find the H&K P90c gun. I'm not talking about shopkeepers and random encounters, just maps where people carry them or they are stashed in bookcases, desks etc.

You can find one in Vault 15 on Level 3. This is the ONLY one in the game which is in a town map and not bought from shopkeepers nor from random encounters.

Alternatively you can get it in NCR...
a) Complete the quest with Mira and she'll give you a P90c. Maybe it's on her body so you can steal it from her, I'm not sure though.
b) You can trade for it with Duppo, I believe.

Here's the website I used, it is VERY comprehensive, many *generally unknown* numbers are revealed.
Press Ctrl+F and search for "P90c".
 
Quick question, I'm using the FO 2 version that already comes with 1.02 installed but it's still a bit buggy after appying your patch. I've tried out what the other members have suggested but to no avail. Can you give me some advice on aplying it succesfully. Also, what would be the first indication that I applied your patch succesfully once I start the game.

PS. Great work and thanks for the patch.
 
Maybe this will work:

1. Download the PL version of 1.05 and the US\UK one.
2. Install Fallout2 1.02.
3. Install the PL patch without the data\text folder.
3. Install the data\text folder from the US\UK version. If you don't have kids unpack the uk.zip file in the game directory.

Tell me if it works.
 
Ok.. You got me all hyped about 1.06 since it includes new towns and you changed the front image finally!

When can we expect it? I'm starting to knaw on my legs here!
 
Well, given the super fast advance from 1.04 to 1.05, maybe this year. That would be the answer if they weren't trying to implement the EPA, the Abbey and who knows how much else (space shuttle mission, yay!). The areas that they are working on have to be built almost from scratch. The most delaying thing is that those areas are probably lacking scripting which is a BITCH to do. Now, if they could add the Nuclear Wolf's Return Special Encounter...I would be quite happy, not to mention Ozrat.
 
In Vault City's Vault, the door that leads to the strength chip is locked.

In 1.02 it was just "jammed" and you needed 7or higher strength to open it. Now you need lockpicking skill or an electronic lockpick?

Bug? Or was that done on purpose?
 
Well, I discovered another dose of small bugs:

After finishing game, go to the New Reno Arms and talk to the owner (Elridge). After choosing dialog option "Can you uprage weapons" he turns hostile.

Bartender in tanker always says that "were closed, go away" no matter what time it is. According to his .msg file, you should be able to barter with him.

Bar (contains some alchol devices) in Golden Gecko Bar and Bucker's house can be walked throught.(missing secret blocking hexes)

Wall container in medic room on first level of Vault 15 is unreachable.(one secret blocking hex blocks the way)

Pot which contains sierra mission holodisk on third level of sad can be walked throught.(missing secret blocking hex)

I did it on purpose. A person with high strength doesn't need the red module that much but a stealth type characters have low strength usually and that is just what they need.

I will take care of those blocking hex bugs for sure. Don't know about scripting bugs but those will be fixed too I think.
 
Hello,

I was working on patching Fallout 2 myself, but then time and RL commitments got in the way. I only had time to really fix up the Den gangwar bug(s), and fix up some of the spelling and grammatical errors for the related characters in that scene.

Since you're already working on a patch, and have done so much, I feel that there's really no point for me to continue my patch. However, I've also noticed that you haven't fixed the Den gangwar bug yet, so if you want, I can e-mail the source files that I changed to fix the bug, and you can incorporate them in your next patch. Interested?
