PS4 mod support update

So Sony screws over its fans and NMA seems happy about it and still blames Bethesda? Curious.
You see hapiness? Some doesn't care but the whole NMA just understood how bethesda "just works" in general some time ago, so you won't see much emotion here.

C'mon, Bethesda cucks over Playstation and customers who play on playstation since Fallout 3. At least Oblivion had some graphical features back in 2007.

Honestly, none of this is surprising to me, in fact I don't even know if I want mods on my PS4 at this point, after hearing what a nightmare it can be for XB1 users. Sure, some lost novelty, but are we seeing any kind of mod quests that are on par with those made for Skyrim or NV? I don't think so. I do not blame Sony one bit here; they made the right call. Bethesda handled this like so many other fiascos; by shooting themselves in the foot and then blaming others.

So about that bit of writing on the PSN store for the much ballyhooed Skyrim reskin, maybe it wasn't such a bright idea to claim PS4 users can use mods for it.

"Skyrim Special Edition also brings the full power of PC mods to consoles. New quests, environments, characters, dialogue, armor, weapons and more – with Mods, there are no limits to what you can experience."

I think it's more to do with the fact that Bethesda are implying it's Sony's fault. Even if it is, they should never have promised this feature unless they knew for sure that they could implement it.

Look at No Man's Sky. It's getting torn apart because of features that they promised but could not implement.

And it was 4J Studios who ported Oblivion for PS3. That's why it was better than the 360 version and was actually made with care towards their intended customers.

The importance of clarity in professional settings
"After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work:"

Why? Seems odd that two very well to do companies "had" an agreement, and Bethesda was confident enough to advertise it and include it in the game features for PS4 Skyrim SE. They do not answer this question.

"Failures of human communication can become amplified in professional settings. In business transactions, especially those involving large amounts of money, a small miscommunication can have devastating effects. For this reason, clarity is absolutely essential. Communication must be consistent, concise, and honest in order to ensure the intended message is received."

"Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision."

Bethesda is accepting no responsibility for something they marketed, whilst they were responsible for getting peoples hopes up for.

"So Sony screws over its fans"

I don't recall Sony marketing this, only mentioned by Bethesda. Bethesda has a history of screwing over PS users, not Sony. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Far Harbor, Mods for Fallout 4, Mods for Skyrim SE. All Bethesda.

This will be the only reply from me to you on this subject, because I don't expect a fact finding reply in return but a typical AccountNameM reply.

It's amusing how quickly the fanboys will believe bethesda's explanation of things. And also not surprising at all.

I see no evidence about whose fault this is other than a Bethesda press release.

If anything, Sony did its fans a favor - Fallout 4 is garbage and belongs in the garbage. If I had a PS4, I'd rather be playing No Man's Sky than that piss. At least No Man's Sky is rated higher on Steam than the Fallout 4 Season Pass LOL.

Add Fallout 3 to this list, both original and GOTY separated since it's a nightmare to play them on PS3 too. Graphics is dogshit too BTW.
Done. And oddly enough I have a lot of respect for PS users, I just wish they would all see that it isn't Sony fucking with them. They made a call. Don't be surprised if the following Bethesda releases are not on Play Station. Sony is Huge. And I have a rule to not give a fuck about big corporations, but I feel bad that they didn't learn yet, probably a good idea to avoid the developer that likes to make you look bad.

They wouldn't be able to say it's Sony's fault if it wasn't at least mostly true. They try and give people what they want, then get shot down, and people blame them for it.

Somewhat yeah. Like how apparently it's funny that people aren't getting features that they want, or that Bethesda can't do something they want, even though their biggest competitor is allowing it and will reap the benefits. That and there's a bunch of pointless bashing when it isn't even being discussed, but hey, people here will never miss the chance to be upset I suppose.

And yeah I know a few of their games ran like crap on PS3, but Sony fucked up the the hardware inside the PS3, which coming from someone who loved that console, still irks me to this day. That and My F3 ran fine on my Ps3, but NV was a mess, sadly.

Well first that's not even a factual statement, unless "at least mostly true" is an actual legal term?

Second, it's still "at least mostly true" that No Man's Sky has multiplayer, so good luck with that.

"KNOWN ISSUES WITH PS4 MODS
  • PC textures are used. Memory and performance issues may occur. We are working with Sony on optimal texture exporting support in a future update.
  • Sound files are currently not supported. PS4 sound format is a proprietary format. We are working with Sony on sound file processing support in a future update.
  • PS4 Mod Storage limit is approximately 900 MB at present. Please do not upload mods larger than 900 MB. We are working with Sony to increase this limit.

"Sony’s decision."
at least mostly true

Seems dishy to me, but I should probably just eat what is feed to me and not ask questions.

Also this: "Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project" - yea those "go here, loot this" quests and Workshop DLC's for the Season Pass really took you a lot of time and effort I'm sure...

it's Sony's fault if it wasn't at least mostly true.
Asking for QA is qualifies for mostly true? On the Sony's side I'd ask for QA for anything Bethesda releases since F3 even if it'll delay the PS version , not even mods.
but Sony fucked up the the hardware inside the PS3
Bethesda always works with PC. A PC! A PC has divided memory pool if you didn't know. PS3 architecture issues is not an excuse for doing poor job. You don't see such excuses coming from DICE or Rockstar Games working on the very same PS3 versions of their games.

It's "at least mostly true" that consoles are PCs.

Speaking as a PS4 player, good. I haven't touched FO4 in months and when I want to play it with mods I can play the drum roll please...PC version. Oh and surprise this sounds more and more like Bethesda's fault. It's a good thing they are held to the same level of scrutiny that other devs are...oh wait.

DICE and Rockstar games have run poorly on Ps3 though, not at buggy as Bethesda games mind you, but seriously Gta 5 was a huge mess on Ps3 until they, barely, managed to get their shit together almost a year later, and even then it can be unplayable at times. Memory issues plagued the Ps3 in more than just Bethesda games.

Also I've seen nothing official about "QA" and I wouldn't trust Neogaf since it seems like it's operated by man-children.

So screw people who can only afford 1 gaming system right? right?
