PSM3 Fallout 3 hands-on preview

14 was the number we heard a few times in the past. 13 was from a recent interview with Hines. It could have just been a mistake that he didn't catch and correct or one of those on that list is off. I can't personally recall throwing being mentioned, do you remember where you saw it Ausir?

It was in one of the early previews. Maybe since then they've merged Throwing and Traps into Explosives, hence the change of the number of skills from 14 to 13?

after seeing the scans maybe i'm exagerating as ussual but:

Bethesda has managed to make me hate the vault boy :( with that stupid thumbs up version of theirs and the way it plastured on everything.... and judgeing by the modulation of the lines .. i suspect they just redrew over the old ones - mirrored and glued elements - see here energy weps and heavy.

hope i'm wrong but it seems they have no able artist that can draw a cartoon or an illustration .. just medievalish heavy detailed concept art - i'm going to look for the fallout manual so you can see the difference in lines.

also ..

Robot Horse
DJ DAWG ?! - can't wait to pimp my GAT

seems to me focus has shifted on the Enclave - at least makes a bit more sense in the DC area

Throwing being an Explosives skills would fit in well with Bethesda's tradition.

Y'know, axes are blunt weapons.

We know we keep mentioning Oblivion, but as this is from the save development team, the similarities are obvious and numerous. In fact, at times it feels exactly like Oblivion in terms of mission structure and the way you navigate the world.

:puke:

Uhh... Locate the red arrow on your map, fast travel to it, fetch X object (green arrow) and then fast travel back to said red arrow?

Sounds invigorating!

Woah, woah, woah...

Since when is the Power Fist a fist-mounted piston?

I thought Vertibirds were armed, why are they dropping guys off instead of just flying around shooting you?

Where's the Speech skill?

More questions to follow when I can think without punching the wall.

Well, hopefully it's the magazine that just omitted Speech. It would be pretty bad if they cut it.

Normally when developers invite us to play their games we're given a controlled, linear demo that carefully guides us through the best bits. But not Bethesda ...

Wat

"Evil" Vault Boys for combat skill tabs

Guys you may be missing some point here

Just like enemies, your health is spread evenly between your limbs, chest and head.

Mommy I don't want enemies spread across my head

Sex = health boost

Srsly wat

There were prostitutes in GTA3/VC?

Huh.

Go figure.

Anyway, SA has sex healing, but in SA saving aka staying in your house heals as well, so that's not really any kind of bonus.

If you pulled up next to one on the sidewalk, they'd get in the car and it'd start bouncing around... with both of you sitting upright in the front seats. After which you'd get a health boost and lose some cash (but could always bat them to death afterwards and get it back).

Unprotected sex with prostitutes grants a health boost? I guess radioactive gonorrhea didn't make the final cut.

pfft bethesda is again (just like in oblivion) trying to make a mainstream game and its ruining most of the classic concepts of its precedents , in fact most of people who reply to the reviews say that they haven't even played the first two fallout games.

And.... Deathclaw - a monster mutated from a grizzle bear?! A grizzle bear?!

Robot Pony - from oblivion engine horse animation, if it appears in-game they probably thought it'd be a waste not to use it.

Robot Pony, DJ Dawg, Rock-it Launcher, Shishkabob....

The things that they slap into this turd of a game. Unbelievable that there are fanbois out there rooting for this vomit.

Fuck. Getting more negative feelings. Unfortunately I'll probably still end up enjoying it, since I even enjoyed Oblivion. I just hoped for a hell of a lot more. I guess I had visions of Bloodlines-Fallout 3 dancing through my head instead of Oblivion-Fallout 3, for whatever reason.

Yeah, that's pretty weird, I agree with you. Vertibirds are very helicopter-like, so I'm sure they could just put a gunner armed with a heavy weapon of choice shooting the player, or the Vertibird could even have a auto-cannon to shoot at the player. The Enclave is a bunch of paranoids, they WOULD arm their vertibirds to the teeth. I would't even put it past the Enclave to arm their Vertibirds with missiles. Sure, I can imagine some Enclave guys in Combat Armor or Advanced Power Armor going down from the ropes and shooting you, but not having a gunner in a vertibird to make cover for the landing troops IS quite stupid. You will never know that your enemy has a rocket launcher until it's too late.

I quote the mission of Macomb in FOT - I was just in the end, driving my hummer, AND THEN *BOOOOM* A prone Raider in a building fires at my hummer with his Rocket Launcher, destroying it and killing my entire squad! "HOLY SHIT" could't even begin to describe it.
