Because nothing, keep the overreactions please.

The fault in this line of thinking is that, by pointing out the plot holes, you have forgotten that we actually have taken in the work for what it is.

At some point during a discussion on a work, the probability of someone stating a variation of "Why can't you just enjoy it for what it is?" in order to dismiss critical analysis is high.

When we analyze any work, be it fiction or art, we look beyond the superficial for deeper meaning in it, and thus we are enjoying it for what it is.

The problem here is that we've already considered your revolutionary argument towards "just enjoy it." One has to remember that is not unique or new at all, as it's the default mindset for most of humanity.

That said, you're the person who is overreacting with these uninspired attempts at sarcastic jabs.

OMG AREFU IS 4 HOUSES ONLY!!!, I HATE YOU BETHESDA!!!, YOU RUINED ALL THE ATMOSPHERE!!!

This is like when Valve releases a new Counter-Strike: OMG AK47 SPREADING IS A THOUSANDTH OF A MILLIMETER TO THE RIGHT!!!, I HATE YOU VALVE!!!, THIS GAME IS SHIT!!!
It happened with 1.5, 1.6, CSS and is happening now with CSGO, the same overreacting every new version.

You don't see anyone here saying anything like this.

We're asking for a thoughtful argument for why we should ignore the plot holes or why we should just accept the sort of thinking that went into Fallout 3. Many of these "overreactions" as you have called them, come from people who have made it clear that they've looked at Fallout 3 and tried to understand the sort of thinking that went into creating the game, and are of the opinion that very little thought went into the story, or only enough to sate the lowest common denominator.

FO3 fans just love to register here just to write the same posts over and over again, don't they?

Yes, because we are not mentally retarded like you.

Well, I'm sorry for not being so analitic for the story, I'm talking behind my point of view. I don't play Fallout for the story, if I want a "good" story I'll go and play Deus Ex or Planescape. I play Fallout for it's freedom and setting, I enjoy some companion background, but the main plot is just an excuse for me to go and do whatever I want in the wasteland.

Oh yeeeah, don't you see my registration date?, your argument makes a lot of sense!

Retarded because I like a game that you don't like?, just grow a bit up, please?

From what I see, 2 out of 3 users here are stupid elitist without any kind of argument more than his irrelevant opinion.

From what I see you have posted 9 times with half of those being disrespectful , ignorant, and trollish, so you get what you give. Plenty of reason has been given for Fallout 3 being a shit game, but it's so beyond beating a dead horse it's not even a horse anymore, it's a pile of slush where a body used to be, so kindly shove off with your dumbass comments.

Takes one to know one. :D

Honestly though, you struck the first blow Bethtard, but don't presume that I give a fuck. You won't stick around long enough to matter. You have your own opinion that F3 is good, but I disagree.

This is pure faggotry. The plot holes aren't the only problems with the game you ignorant shit. Browse a few of the threads around here and you might understand. Of course you might have to sift through a lot of bullshit, but there are plenty of valid complaints. We aren't the only site that thinks the same either, but you are probably new to the internet.

Typical LARPy "explorefag". I don't, like, care about the story, but I like to explore shit, so you guys are weird for being that way.

Can't you have both a deep, engaging, "good" story and also have the freedom of a wide open sandbox? Roleplaying games have advanced quite a long way, and it's not unreasonable to desire more complexity in a game. Especially one that is intended to follow the pedigree of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

I know all those problems but I enjoy the game equally.

You don't know me to call me ignorant shit, you don't know what games I have played or what Fallout game I have played first, so stop being a inmature child and be more tolerant with others tastes.

Of course, and that's because I like the other 3 games more, but that is a main point for you, not for me, that's why I can enjoy FO3.

Fair enough. Which did you play first? Why do you defend a horrible RPG that raped the franchise if you are an original Fallout fan?

FO2, I never liked turn-based combat games, this is the only one that I like and it's one of my all-time favourites. Maybe I like Enclave so much for this reason, another hate victim, It's like you guys have to dislike all massive liked things to be hardcore gamers.

TorontRayne said:

It raped nothing, for me is a reboot, I don't care about what Bethesda says. It's all about points of view, for me the plot holes aren't that important because I don't care about plot.

No, we respond unkindly to belligerent responses that have been repeated, literally, a hundred times. Fallout 3 was awful on a shit load of levels. To describe it again in any detail is so beyond my patience, since it has been discussed hundreds of times over the past few years. When a new poster comes in and says, "You guys should chill and enjoy the game for what it is!", My troll alarm goes off and the troops are called in.

Granted I responded harshly, but your slight to Walpknut, and the initial "screaming" post, sounded fairly dismissive and aggressive, so I issued in kind.

Even as a reboot it is horrible dude. It was handled horribly. A super-rich company like Bethesda could have put more effort into making the game awesome, I mean, Morrowind was pretty good lore and story wise, so why the dumbing down of everything since Oblivion? To market to a larger, less mature audience, making the original fans a minority. I can't turn on the blinders to stupid plot holes, awful gameplay, lore inconsistencies, and outright ridiculousness, for the sake of "enjoyment". I am a glittering gem of hatred after all....

OK, I apologize then about how I entered.

That's not the question that has been raised. The question is whether people have a problem with Fallout 3 being "canon" in terms of the rest of the Fallout franchise. It's not simply the open sandbox nature of the game, but the nature of it's story, and it's meaning to the rest of the universe.

To compare, FOBOS is not canon whatsoever, but Fallout Tactics is only partially canon. Why is that? Because much of what is in those two games is not conducive to the themes and understanding of the Fallout franchise.

Many people feel there's much of Bethesda's approach to the story and lore that doesn't follow the intricacies of the Fallout storytelling style. There's a difference in logic (arguably a lack thereof) which makes it feel awkward when one looks over the set as a whole, instead of as separate parts.

For those people, it feels out of place, and therefore, something bothers them about Fallout 3 being considered canon.

Don't consider it canon then, it's easy!, who cares about what Bethesda says.

I like Terminator and I have to deal with Salvation, what I can do?, go Hollywood and kill those bastards? no, I ignore the movie and I respect if other people like it.
