Russian-Ukrainian war

There have been times during this conflict that I've detected a kind of "oh sh** we shouldn't have started/escalated this" from both sides. But still they're at it. Boggles the mind. At this point what are they trying to achieve, either side? I guess they still haven't depleted the supply of crazy dudes willing to tote AK's at the front line.

There's an ex-president of Fiinland, Martti Ahtisaari who has done a lot of peace-making through his company. It might be time to unleash him.

Why should people not take Vice seriously? It's a news outlet, with its positives and negatives. I've seen Vice report from conflicts, where not a single other westerner was present.
I've also seen Vice go to some jungle party with some African tribe, getting his as fuck, hoping to "see the dinosaur", ending in journalism failure

But I've also seen CNN tote a "Terrorism Special!" vignette, accompanied by nothing but a point blank *ARAB FACE* as well as *arab music!*, couldn't have lacked any more subtlety even if they tried. Total failure, as journalism.

All news outlets should be taken with several grains of salt. Few of them are *worthless* in terms of footage and news they provide, and *none* of them are as unbiased as people take their favorite outlet to be

Except Euronews. Fuck those biased, one-sided, snobs!

J/K I love Euronews. But, take with a grain of salt as with everything else!

So far it does seem like they'll ratify it. A motion against the treaty was rejected in the house of representatives. Even though the referendum had the exact best result that no voters were hoping for. It's a valid result, meeting the minimum 30% amount of the population in number of votes.

What did Ukraine gained with Euromaidan, over the years, anyway?
Did it improve their standard of living? Did it gave them the EU membership?
Did it gave them better exports?
Did it gave them money?

Was it even worth it?

From this bbc article I'm reading, it seems as though the potential of the revolution was snuffed out by the russian military incursion.

Well. They got their freedom. And as we all know. You can not measure *western freedom! Ask the Moslems. 100 000 Irakies died for it so far! Do you want to argue ... all those people died for nothing? What are you! Anti-freedom!

*disclaimer, does not come with western democracy, values, liberty and is no garantue for improvements, more liberties and/or better economical situations. Wanna have some cheap garbage? Or some offal? People here don't buy it.

They also got influences like "Right Sector" up from discreteness, and marching through streets, and into gvt. That's always charming.

There's no revolution powerful enough to overturn the effects of 70 years of communism. The rest of eastern Europe was lucky enough to only get 45, but the countries of the pre-1945 USSR are fucked and will probably remain fucked for a long, long time to come.

What a shame.

The current Ukrainian government isn't doing the better, though, aside from blaming absolutely everything on Moscow.
They don't even try to change something to the better. I see Ukraine being massively exploited.
