Sequels that are at least debatbly better than their predecessors? (All genres and mediums)

Persona 5 > Persona 4 > Persona 3.
Agree x 100000

No idea why people 8nsist that Persona5's story is not as good as 4. 4 barely had a plot, characters only reacted to it for the most part and it was excuse to enlarge their group and explore certain themes. I still love Persona 4 but Persona 5 improved upon every single element, specially combat.

Resurrection time:

Blade runner 2049 is the masterpiece everyone says the original was. The original falls flat in a lot of areas most notably failing to get me emotionally invested in anything going on in the film.

Blade runner 2049 easily surpasses the first one in almost every way.

Fallout 2.

Joe is kind of a boring protagonist.

Jagged Alliance 2
Super Metroid
Majora's Mask
Age of Empires 2
Front Mission 2

Borderlands 2 (not a particularly good game, but still better than the first)
Far Cry 5 (It's just as boring as any other Far Cry title, but actually went out of its way to streamline the gameplay elements which bogged down previous entries)
Postal 2

Star Trek: the next generation is leagues above the original series (of which only about a third was any good at all)
Thor 3, despite completely ruining any chance of a world war hulk story in the mcu, was better than 1&2. Not a very good sequel but still a superior movie to the first two.
Indiana Jones and the last crusade of course.
Infinity war was leagues above age of Ultron.

How about some controversy?

Return of the living dead is better than night of the living dead.

The Avengers films got better for me.
I'm pretty sure I'm one of the few People on Earth who think Age of Ultron was better than the first (infinity is the best however).

Honestly through, the comics are so much better.

No, seriously, yes.

Then again, Fallout is kind of the Assassins Creed to Assassins Creed 2. The inferior test demo which takes itself way too seriously.

I disagree but Deckard is one of the least interesting protagonists I can think of. He wasn't an interesting character until 2049.[/QUOTE]

Deckard is an incredibly interesting protagonist. He's a Nazi and a scumbag who learns to be human again.

@ironmask While I love the original, I feel Human Revolution is just a bit more polished overall. Aside from the release version of the bosses...

Adam is also my fucking spirit animal. Not that JC wasn't great too.

Uh, no. I still love 2049 for keeping the spirit of the original intact for the most part, but the antagonist(s) were kinda weak compared to Roy Batty and co. Also, don't forget Roy Batty's last words, literally no moments in 2049 surpassed that. Well, the moment when K loses it was kind of close, but still... I pretty much preferred Roy Batty's last moment.

I will attribute the problem of him not interesting enough in the original was because they didn't adapt the topic of authentic living beings that's so heavily evoked in the book at all. The stuff with synthetic animals being a commodity in the market, and genuine living animals being a thing of rarity and the most sought-out commodity in the world depicted by the book, AND also Mercerism.... this two topics is what made Deckard an actually interesting character in the book.

Alas, the movie adaptation decided to shift the focus on the synths (Rachel, and Roy Batty and co), and so does 2049 building up upon the ground laid by its predecessor, instead of taking cues from the book (or perhaps there were elements of the book present in 2049, I need to rewatch it).

It's very good that it didn't take any cues from the actual Blade Runner 2 novel, which was utter garbage.

I would be mad but you're wrong a lot anyways so :P

While CT's taste is almost legendarily shitty, he's right with Deckard and Blade Runner 2049.

Metal Gear 1-3 is an increasingly wonderful ladder of greatness. Shame it drops off hard with MGS4.

As for the Blade Runner discussion, I'd say that whilst Deckard is a cool stoic noir detective protagonist, K is a more compelling character with a much more interesting arc. It's hard to compare the movies themselves though, 2049 certainly has a better narrative but it lacks the vibrant heart that the original had. The smoke filled rooms, the old world-y interior decor mixed with cyberpunk futurism, the beating heart of Los Angeles. You also of course can't top Roy Batty in the character department either, although I'd say 2049's Tears in the Rain moment rivals the original quite well.

You are correct with both.

Unless you're saying it's better than invisible war then I agree.

Gameplay wise, Deus Ex is the high water mark for adaptability with maybe Alpha Protocol as a rival and nothing else.

Human Revolution, however, actually has a protagonist with a personality.
