I think that Alice: Through the Looking Glass (2016) is better than Alice in Wonderland (2010), mainly for one important reason. Alice in Wonderland (2010) made a severe mistake of not having enough screentime with Alice to justify it enough to be actually Alice's adventure in Wonderland. In fact, it feels like the movie tried to focus too much on Mad Hatter. For this sole reason alone, I think Through the Looking Glass improved greatly upon its predecessor by finally making Alice the main focus throughout the movie, even going as far as making the Hatter dying and bed-ridden. If TtLG is just like its predecessor, we would have scenes showing the Hatter's progress in dying and the others trying their best to keep Hatter awake.
Also, now that I've watched Mad Max original trilogy, I don't see how Fury Road has horrible script, let alone miscast. The development hell it went through for nearly 20 years is something unfortunate to ever happen to a piece of work. Progress halted by a war, and the halt continued by their main cast getting into trouble.... it's unfortunate. But at the very least it wasn't like Fallout franchise of getting it shifted from one hand into another. The reboot to make Fury Road possible also doesn't seem so harmless. The fatal mistake Fury Road made was making Furiosa it's main focus, so in a way I guess it made the same mistake as Alice in Wonderland (2010), and also the age's inconsistency. I've read up on why Max barely say anything, and it seems like it's not only because he's going feral, but also because he can't remember his own voice, having not spoken for so long and only ever spoken with voices in his head. In a way, I think this plot point could've been explored more to help making Max the main focus of Fury Road, with him occasionally arguing with the voices in his head on what to do when he encounter Furiosa and the Five Wives, much akin to Krieg the Psycho from Borderlands 2.
Anyway, seeing how the author got plans to make 2 more movies, I guess we all have to wait for what he has in store to address all the disrepancy and inconsistency. Maybe even make Tom Hardy finally looks MUCH older, now that it's shown to be possible to make an actor looks very old like they did Hugh Jackman for Logan (2017).
