Skyrim Remastered

I like Skyrim and even I think this is completely stupid. I genuinely hope this crap makes people finally wake up and realize Bethesda just wants money money money. Of course the console players will still eat this shit up because apparently they can't afford to run Skyrim on their computers. My fiance has a damn Pentium graphics card from the early 2000s along with just 4 RAM and 2.0 GHz of speed and she can still run Skyrim with as many mods as she wants with no problem. There is no excuse, and if people actually shell out money for this just so they can have mods on console instead of playing it on PC with all the mods already available, I'm going to laugh and cry at the same time. Just about any dinosaur that isn't a box computer can run Skyrim on low settings.

Looking at the images between the original and the remastered, it doesn't even look that different from the base game. A lot of the textures look exactly the same with some better lighting to make you think it's actually better. I'm gonna quote Trey here, what the Hell were they thinking?

Can't use stolen mods if they're based around the SKSE. :smug:
Which is most of the mods on the Nexus. Can't wait to see that shit storm. I do however feel really bad for the Skyrim Nexus modders who are going to get bombard with messages, hate mail and death threats from the console kiddies over why the mods they stole won't work for consoles.

If Bethesda wanted mods to be available to Skyrim on console, why didn't they just leave it at that?

They are reinforcing the stupid stereotype that games need new graphics every 5 years by selling this Graphically identical version. I hope they know that by reinforcing this "Better Visuals = Better Game" nonsense, they are making people think great games are old and obsolete, and therefore brutally murdering gaming.

Until they quit modding Skyrim too because of that.
Oh this is funny, then who will mod their games? GG Bethesda.

I'm waiting to see how many pissed off console users cry and bitch because incompatible mods broke their saves and melted their consoles.
Hm, I wouldn't be so sure of that. I think that SKSE is an open source program, distributed for free and available on Steam. Bethesda could very well implement it within the vanilla game.

Right because if that was the case then wouldn't they have done it with Fallout 4?

So what is this outrage all about, are the mods not going to be free?
I wouldn't say there's any outrage, if anything, we're merely expecting Bethesda to repeat the mistakes they made with Fallout 4's console modding.

Oh boy, i'm so far behind on bethesda stuff that i had no idea Fallout 4 (which i never played) on consoles had mods :D. If you don't mind, can you give me a shorthand version what was wrong with Fallout 4 console mods?

I don't know about that, I tried playing New Vegas on my computer with the lowest settings on and it was like a damn slideshow. Even Minecraft lags badly on it. My graphics card is absolutely terrible.

Even if it is only five years old, hopefully it's better than the GTA San Andreas remaster. That garbage makes me weary of remasters.

Mod theft, mainly. There's already a scandal with the tiny Fallout 4 modding community, now imagine with the huge Skyrim nexus. 10 million subscribers, thousands and thousands of mods. They are all there.
DMCA complaints are not a protection, since Bethesda doesn't have the manpower to handle a lot of them in a short time. It already takes them days, if not weeks, to react for Fallout 4, so imagine if they are suddenly flooded with hundreds of cases, which is very possible.
However, I'm curious to see the size limit of mods for console. 2 gig, like for Fallout 4 ?

Do the mod thieves on console profit from the mods they stole?

No, they just violate copyright, inadvertently brick consoles and, fuck over modders.
See here for a modder being pissed:

And on top of that, the thieves post links to their patreons (not sure I spell it right. The thingy where you can pay them for no reason) and beg for cash. And when the mods finally get taken down, they openly justify the thievery by saying that it's because of "Modder's PC elitism".

New Vegas lags for her a bit but I've watched her play it before on her shitty little laptop. It hiccups but she can run it with a lot of mods too. Difference is, unlike Skyrim, she did have to find a mod that makes New Vegas's low settings even lower. Funny how Skyrim actually runs better than NV given how Skyrim is debatedly the bigger game, at least size and graphics-wise. Still, I've watched her play both through Skype and in-person and Skyrim does indeed run better. I'll give Bethesda one thing, they do know how to cram a lot of world space and whatnot into a very small package. The beautification mods alone I have for Skyrim are bigger than the game's GB size itself.
