Star Wars: Rogue One

You know, now that you mention it, maybe it's just me, but when I heard that this

Game of Thrones character, Gwedonline Christie was playing the role of Phasma, it came almost like a schock.

Not because is hate her or something, I even think she is a pretty good actress and I really liker role in GoT. But why again is everyone over Phasma in TFA again?

'cause she's a woman in a position of authority, that's probably why.

Since we might get every year a Star Wars movie by Disney - can you say Marvel? - , they might make one that you will like eventually.

There's the upcoming Han Solo prequel story apparently... I'm willing to bet that it'll rip off one of the novels or stories about his past from the old Expanded Universe stuff.

Meanwhile, does anyone else here know about Havet Storm and the Lost Jedi gamebooks? The rebels in that gamebook were the original R1 before R1 was ever a thing. I think I still have a battered copy of the two books.

Although the EU had some...questionable things in it *cough* zombie gungans *cough* I still prefer it over this new canon, I mean, for god's sake, there's a robo-mon calamari in there somewhere who faces off against Darth Vader himself, but getting rid of the Old Republic canon makes my blood boil, besides, how else could Disney steal Darth Revan's design for their fuckboi Kylo Ren.

What was her role again? And we never saw her face or anything. I understand the love with Rey, I mean she is the main character and doing stuff. And what has Phasma really done in the movie except of being a typical bad guy - well girl really - henchmen, - well henchwoman really, - ?.

I kinda can't loose the feeling, like she was supposed to have a much larger role and impact on TFA, but for some reason it was either cut or changed with a different script?

No clue. Or maybe they just needed something to sell figures. What do I know.

Boba Fett effect. He was a meaningless character that said maybe 5(?) lines in Empire, and fans went crazy about him because he had cool armor, spoke menacingly, and outsmarted Han Solo (tracked him down).

Phasma is an attempt to create a character like Boba Fett.

The Star Wars: Rebels Mid-Season 3 trailer was released today. We're going to see some of Saw Gerrera's experiences that led to his state in Rogue One, which should provide much-needed characterization for him. The mid-season premier (on January 7) will show how Saw was debilitated, explaining his dependence on a breathing mask. It's known that his lungs were damaged by Geonosian pesticide, and Geonosis is where the premier takes place. We also finally see Sabine's mother, more of Thrawn, and of course, the expected Obi-Wan and Maul encounter.

Can you Say Star Wars : Phasma origins ?

Disney has to fill that yearly movie cycle somehow.

I'd leave her to EU novel writers (if Disney is even sanctioning works like that in the manner Lucas did) - basically what happened to Boba Fett (pre-legends). She's not interesting or grounded enough as a character [yet] to warrant an origin film. They've already got Han Solo and Boba Fett stories planned anyhow.

Am I the only one not interested in Phasma at all? All the press hype and fan hype around her is even worse than Boba Fett. She's on screen for, what, a few minutes, most of that time spent standing in the background? Speaks maybe thrice? At least Boba Fett was built up to be a badass bounty hunter that even Vader respected. Fans had reasons to speculate how cool he is. Phasma is just another Stormtrooper Officer who doesn't do anything. I forgot she was even there halfway through the movie. Her only apparently quality in the press is that she's a "strong woman" and I have no idea how they came to that conclusion.

I found the entire movie to be bleh overall, save for that lovely ending of the protagonist dying, I smiled, though the whole shit with the Death Star not destroying planets was downright laughable. It made me seriously go "What in the flying fuck? Is it malfunctioning?" And honestly felt like they made it unnecessary to have the Death Star attack these sections, especially when they downplay the power of it so badly. Would've been better to simply have the protagonist and 'important' people get out of the area in time before the Death Star fires.

Also, side note, even though I enjoyed the somewhat dark ending, I think it would've been more emotional if it was the Protagonist and her father was there instead of killing him off mid-late through the movie, since I had absolutely no connection to the rebel 'friend' she was with.

As for Bodhi, I was actually a bit confused by him, as he's supposed to be a defector Imperial Pilot, but he doesn't seem to have any sort of training to him. I thought he would be a bit commanding, stern, and accepting of his fate and such. Orderly. Maybe I'm thinking of a different Empire era like in SWTOR or First Order where people are actually trained to be the badasses I was thinking.

another side note is a nice show of how dark the Rebel Alliance is as well, seems both sides are royally fucked up.
