Star Wars: Rogue One

The sad part is, that there is plenty of stuff to say about TFA even, but I guess the problem is that TFA is simply an normal action movie, a mediocre Blockbuster triple A super-polished production which means that it's not great, but not so bad that you have to hate it.

However, I am curious about something though, is every Stormtrooper in Rogue One so incompetent like in those actions scenes they showed?
well he could have went in depth about how it presents the star wars universe in a form of stagnation. or how the presence and name of the first order make no sense. or why the rebels are called the resistance even though up until the end they are the ones in power until TFO uses their super weapon for which they had no way to build much less build silently.

who did they hire to build starkiller base?
how did they get the funds to pay them?
how did they make them keep quiet?
did they just kill them?
itd take a lot of workers to build a station the size of a planet.
that's a lot of dead or missing people.
I mean isn't that a little conspicuous?
I don't underst- NUMBER TWO

lots of potential for the review imo. the problem is he liked it.

Maybe not 'liked' but it was simply put, entertaining. Now that I am thinking about TFA, at first I also thought that I 'liked' it, but what it actually did was simply entertaining me, at least for the 2 hours where I watched it, entertaining in the same way like Transformers, big explosions and beautiful people but that's it. But that's just me.

Now that some time has passed, I can't even really say 'what' was so entertaining. Most of TFA was to formulaic, to much Hollywood (if that makes sense?), I am not sure how to describe it, the fact that it feelt closer to a reboot didn't really help much either. Oh, and yeah you really have to shut down your brain, Starkiller base? A whole planet destroying a Starsystem ... what where they thinking ...

But at least the characters in TFA displayed more emotions than the whole cast of all of the prequels. I have to give them that.

I, for one, welcome our new mouse-mascotted overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a senior forum member, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

Keep 'em coming, Disney.

@Buxbaum666 is ready for the coup d'état:

I honestly don't know why Disney gets so much shit and I think them taking over is the best thing that could've happened to the Star Wars movie franchise. Because it wasn't looking that great for a long while.

To be honest I can't really say anything. I like Star Wars but I am not an avid fan. I only watched the movies and never read any of the comics or books or anything like that. I think i enjoy the setting of Star Wars more than the actual stories the movies show me.
On a different note, I would love Disney if they would make plans for a new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic cRPG.

I guess I'm not that much of a Star Wars fanboy, either, but I'm big enough a fan to dearly love the original trilogy and hate what George Lucas did with the franchise. I really want Disney to pull all the strings they can to make a Blu-Ray release of the unaltered OT happen. The despecialized editions are watchable but I'd buy an official release in a heartbeat.

Yeah, still hoping for a non-CGI'd remaster of the original trilogy, now that George "bantha poodoo" Lucas doesn't have his grubby fingers on it anymore...

I think there was an issue of distribution rights for the old films. As in, Disney doesn't have them. There's gotta be a way around that, though. I WILL NOT GIVE UP (A NEW) HOPE

Sadly, in general they are. There have been a few moments in which was I thinking while watching this movie "Why don't you shoot this guy/girl? You have a blaster you know and they have a melee weapon. If that fails, throw a grenade."

Had the rules of "If I am an evil overlord" been implemented these troopers would have served as targets for the more effective personnel

Maybe, because Mikey is such an ass?

Four RLM vidoes about Rogue One. I love these guys, but I think they really find this movie more horrible than it is. As I said earlier, yes, R1 isn't perfect, but the guys are extremely pessimistic about the whole affair.

The main problem is that Disney will churn out average Star Wars movies, and sure, that can be a bad thing. Disney will be to Star Wars which Bethesda was to Fallout. I can agree with that,we can see that, but there will be much more horrible movies down the road. Rogue one is okay. TFA is meh. VII, IX might also be meh, and the other standalones, I would wager as a critic, might be meh at best. But for now, they're working fine. 6-7.5/10 is still better than 3 or 4/10.

I disagree, take out the Star Wars elements in Rogue One and you have a horrible movie. The writing is ridiculous at times, especially the "boring character has a forced monologue to explain motivation" scenes are written so clumsy a 5th grader would get a F for it. What they did get right in comparison to TFA is the pacing and editing, that's about it.

Well at this point Star Wars is a money printing machine. However, the stuff that sells the best, are still items about the 'old' characters, like Vader, Yoda or the Stormtroopers which tells you something about the quality of the known characters and how little people actually care about the new ones.

The best selling figure from TFA was of Phasma. (on Amazon UK, at least)

You know, now that you mention it, maybe it's just me, but when I heard that this
220px-Gwendoline_Christie_by_Gage_Skidmore_2.jpg

Game of Thrones character, Gwedonline Christie was playing the role of Phasma, it came almost like a schock.

Not because is hate her or something, I even think she is a pretty good actress and I really liker role in GoT. But why again is everyone over Phasma in TFA again? She has how many lines? What was her role again? And we never saw her face or anything. I understand the love with Rey, I mean she is the main character and doing stuff. And what has Phasma really done in the movie except of being a typical bad guy - well girl really - henchmen, - well henchwoman really, - ?.

I kinda can't loose the feeling, like she was supposed to have a much larger role and impact on TFA, but for some reason it was either cut or changed with a different script?

No clue. Or maybe they just needed something to sell figures. What do I know.

Well I hope she at least got a kick ass big salary for those few moments she had in the movie.

Everyone thought that she would be the Vader of the movie, the dragon, to Ren. Instead, we got Hux and a Phasma that served as a walking key.

She is slated to appear in VIII however and hopefully she'll be a threat this time.
