The Czechs scoop the world: new Fallout 3 screenshots

I must say I didn't believe in its authenticity too much (y'know, the quality of scans is just low, the source is quite nameless and above all, NMA has spotted nothing... not mentioning my paranoia). But if BN know that scenes from demo, there's no doubt about it.

Anyway, my bosses are surprising me more and more, they have damn good research. Who might think they're taking a mag which I didn't know at all. :D
sure, it's legit.

the first pic, i cant really place, but might be from many different times that he briefly looked aside to nothing.

the second is too cropped to tell.

the third is obviously the only real town visited in the demo: Megaton. though it should be noted the demo i saw had no brahmin in that spot.

the fourth picture is the 'end boss' fight at the tower, where you're aided by a few BoS and you get to use the fatman.

I like the gray depressing colours for D.C., it would look pretty nice in a real, isometric Fallout 3.
Sadly they spoiled it with their moronic immershun and innovation fetishes and by fucking up the looks of creatures.

But many of the screenshots aren't in the wasteland. Whatever, I really just don't like the colors at all, and some flora could help. :)

Like the previous screenshots, these are "staged" and provided by Bethesda, not taken directly from the demo. The locations and NPCs are recognisable from the demo, but the situations are "staged" in the sense that they put NPCs in different spots and then take a screenshot.

Yeah, yeah, the first screen is quite similar to some ashlands in Morrowind, iirc. Lets criticise it! .)

More seriously: there are evident differences between Fallout 3 pics and that legendary Chosen One pic, but don't forget it was sandy California and now it's a DC region with mild climate. So, I agree that Fallout 3 world should be ruined/coloured in a quite different way.

Dude, wasteland is wasteland, dead is dead.

For Frith's sake, would you prefer the happy-go-green-grass world of Vault City?

It really, really isn't an issue. The change of style is, the lack of vegetation isn't.

Well...I promised myself not to judge the graphics before I see an ingame video because those scans really look like brahmin poop !

Damn, these screenshots remind me of times when we were actually deluding ourselves into thinking that Bethesda may be creating a real Fallout 3.

@BN

yes you are right its a good depiction of the wasteland but...

somehow i would have expected it to be somewhere between Stalker and the Fallout 1 renders/enviroment .. since i thought that it is the east coast and a different geography and its been a while since the war.

Anyway, I think we've now pinned down all the inspirations for the Behemoth...

wtf.jpg

Resident Evil, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and the Poop Demon from Dogma.

Only thing missing is...well...Fallout.

The first thing I thought (and I'm serious here) when I saw the Behemoth picture, was the cave troll-in-Moria scene from the movie version of LOTR. Might be the pose and camera angle.

I don't really mind a grayer Fallout that much, though I do think it would sort of lend itself to looking a bit more "generic post-apoc". I'll probably miss the browner colours (I might miss them a lot actually now that I think about it) though.

Brahmin look fine. Supermutant and Behemoth looks atrocious. Urgh.

Bethesda does have a tendency to be "inspired" by other works

Damn that's blatant.

Resident Evil, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and the Poop Demon from Dogma.

Only thing missing is...well...Fallout.

The mutants in Fs only looked Hulk-ish because of technical limitations! You ain't next-gen enough to comprehend the genius of F3's poopmonsters!

Those pics are legit, it is clearly scans from the GFW "Best games of 2008" article. You can even see parts of the giant vault-boy that was in the middle of the articles page.

But anyway, the mutant-orc is just godawful. Are they even trying over there? My art skills top out just above drawing stick figures and I think I could some up with something that looks better then that does.

That Brahmin is kinda cool, it just looks more emaciated in 3d. Which it should be really. But those orcs have got to go.

Poop demon from dogma...nice...

I wonder if Kevin Smith is wandering around Megaton... and George Carlin is the leader of the cult there.

And the ending of the game is narrated by Chris Rock ranting on a very disappointing and unrewarding philosophy about the outcome based upon your characters karma...

Though i do admit i would laugh my ass off if I saw Jay and Silent bob wandering the wasteland with a boombox...

Hello guys,

Great for putting some more screenshots online.
To be honest, not all the graphics do look that bad, but they are all so grey, just like a lot of those WW2 shooter games that have been coming out.

As for that Super Mutant... well I don't know really what to say of that 'thing'.
It looks indeed a lot like the Nemesis from Resident Evil, perhaps a little coding when FO3 has been released and we can make it say "STARS..."

I wanted to compare it to an opponent of a shooter game but there is no point to that as that has been brought up several times.

It's Golgothan, an excremental. I can go into this trivia, but would prefer not to wade too deep.

Well that Brahmin looks pretty good and I'm sure it's grand animated in bloom and 3d and shaderized(?) and such… Great environment... until that damn orc/orge/poop demon thing shows up...

With the limitless creativity offered by the Fallout Universe, why an Ogre? With the master's army goo monsters, Hunchback grotesque mutants (that *COULD* talk) and all the unexplored potential lurking in the swamps of the U.S. capitol I cannot fathom this utter failure of copycat old hat rubbish.

Mod out the orc's/ogres mod in Mutants and Jay and Silent Bob.
*gets out mod wish list*
