The Elder Scrolls Online

Sure 'nuff.

Heh, I remember how Interplay investors were dead-set on their conspiracy theory that Bethesda was secretly already working on Fallout Online and thus in breach of contract by bad faith. It was obvious all along TES Online was first.

It's such a massive undertaking I don't understand why currently successful companies risk it. Have many tried and been successful over a long period of time besides Blizzard and Origin with Ultima Online?

well, looks like it'll be the same generic shite as usual.

I like that they try to avoid the common party roles of tank, healer and dps by not having threat, but the thing is that these roles will most likely be required either way. you'll just have other ways of keeping aggro than you do in WoW.

I was very curious about the first bits of information that would drop, but now that I know the basics I don't really care any more. moving on.

To be fair, M'aiq was always a really big fuck you to the fanbase, anyway.

This is a terrible idea. I'm assuming this all takes place after Skyrim, which would probably be in line with what Todd Howard mentioned about rebooting the series. Going back to do Arena and Daggerfall wouldn't affect whatever lore the MMO institutes. Ugh.

Nope.

Takes place 1000 years before Skyrim.

I honestly have no clue how the hell they settle all this.

I figure they just make it up as they go along.

1000 years before Skyrim? Eeeeeh... thought the trailer said something about the dragon fires not being lit.

Yeah, apparently, this takes place before the Septims became Emperors.

or something.

I'm not a Elder Scrolls historian, so I can't refute the statements, but that's what the article said.

yeah! I mean like Bethesda was always trying to stay true to Elder Scrolls lore. Com on guys. The people in charge over Bethesda today are not the same people like back then.

They don't care about Lore in any way.

Well, it's a bit early to see what they're doing with the MMO as of yet. We'll just have to stay tuned. I don't know what to think about having the game set 1000 years before Skyrim. They could really fuck up the dwarves, seeing as they're still out and about at the time, I think.

in Elder Scrolls lore those "dwarves" have been actually only dwarves in name only. If I remember right they had pretty much the same size like everyone else and they have been some kind of descendants from the elves which simply preferred to live in cities under the earth.

You know thats the problem when new people in a gaming company make a cliche fantasy game out of a setting like the Elder Scrolls.

Sounds like they're really betting on the appeal of TES lore because it doesn't seem to fit into the series in any other way.

No, the Dwemer disappeared in 1E 700, which was just over 2000 years before the Reman Dynasty ended, which the TESO is set a long time after, around 400 years before Tiber Septim. They've been gone a long time, so the only way Zenimax could fuck this up is by having them appear in the game.
