thank god i was thinking you were going to double wield for lulz. ;)

yeah, i know. was stabbing some fun at the supposedly Tactical gun that isn't very tactical.

i'm leaning towards a Sig 550 black picatinny.
a Vz 58 is also on my list for fun. cheap (325 euros) & very decent.

    pics or it didn't happen!

    Not yet, but after Christmas.

I almost have the money for an old classic M16A2. 8-)

I'd like an M16A2 myself. Unfortunately, registered receivers are running $8-10k right now, and the wife has all that money accounted for...

So it's been a busy year for me, and I have rewarded myself a bit. The Knights E3 is probably the tacti-coolest thing going right now because a.) it is Knights and b.) there aren't a whole lot of them out and about yet. The lower is full of all sorts of nifty little nuances, like an ambi bolt release and mag release, integrated swing swivel mounts, etc... Right now, I am the coolest kid on the block in my little world.

Also, my SPR tribute: I won't call it a Mk 12 Mod 0, because I went for a different stock and better optics. I did stick with the Ops 12th can, of course. I really like Ops rifle cans, because they are built like a brick shit-house and are pretty quiet.

Knights Armament is not a company I am that familiar with. Gorgeous rifle however.

How much did it run you?

KA makes stuff like the SR-25 and such. pretty damn nifty. but very expensive.

i can appreciate what they did to the E3. well thought out, and nice implementation.

i don't like direct inpingement though, so i wouldn't go for most of the stuff KA makes, and they'd be nearly impossible to get anyway (here in Europe).

still, very high quality rifles and very neat stuff.

very nice rifles Johnny, as usual. :)

and btw: cool yes, but tacticool is still your VLTOR.

Bal-Sagoth: It ran me in the neighborhood of $2400

SSteve: Rock River makes good ARs. I have two of them, and I am happy with both. Not sure what you're looking for, but an A3 midlength is about the perfect general purpose rifle in my opinion.

Sua: Thanks for the compliments. I am not against piston guns, I am just not for pistons in ARs in general. I won't bring up the whole argument again, but the design has worked just fine the way it is for the last 40 years or so, and if I want a piston, I'll get a gun designed around it. Plus, carrier tilt is a bitch and has chewed up a lot of retro-fit guns. That said, I like the Robinson Arms XCR, which is 'AR-esque', but designed around the piston system and has no receiver tube.

Is the Knight's E3 a gas-piston upper? There was an article in the Army Times recently about 16 carbines being presented as replacements for the M4 and Knight's had a new Gas Piston driven rifle, wondering if the E3 is a civilian version of that?

As for my collection, I've picked up the following (though most of the rifles are bastardized since I live in California, fixed magazine and the like):

CMMG 14.7" M4gery, normally has a TA31F ACOG on it but I took it to Iraq with me so I put an Aimpoint M2 CCO on it while my dad holds on to it, everything else is stock like a regular M4 including the MaTech BUIS.

Sabre Defence 20" M16A4gery, same thing as an M16A4 minus the burst, no optics just the removable carry handle and a Knight's M5 RAS.

Century Arms WASR-10, standard AK clone

Springfield M1 Garand from the CMP, awesome deal on it, it's a WWII serial number.

Walther G22, fun little plinker gun, pain in the ass to clean though and a bit heavy for a .22

Winchester 1300 Defender, I heard they quit making these and I saw it on sale at Big 5 so I decided what the hell get one before I can't anymore.

Beretta M92FS, figured I could get 15 round mags pretty easily from the Army since it would otherwise be impossible to get in CA.

Smith and Wesson M&P .45 - I saw it and thought it was badass and at the time 10 round magazines were the only size available, so I didn't feel as cheated being stuck with only 10 rounds.

My wife has a couple of guns as well, she loved the M4 in Call of Duty 4 so I built her up one that looked exactly like the one in the game with the same red-dot sight.

The E3 is still DI. I have no doubt Knights has a gun in the running for gas piston, I just don't know what it is.

You've got a bunch of nice guns. I've got a CMMG middie 14.5 with a pinned Phantom, posted a couple of pages back. I've also got a Sabre middie upper. Actually, it's one of their first civilian production middies, from back when they cost only $400 complete with bolt.

I've got the FN Police Shotgun, which is a 1300 Defender series. Very nice, very light shotgun with one of the fastest pump actions I've seen.

I carry a variety of 1911s, and I don't feel cheated with 8 rounds. I believe in accuracy over volume.

Are you on Cal-guns? I am always amazed when I see the creativity you guys put into your rifles. Were it not for the earthquakes and loonies, I wouldn't mind living in California. I went to Yosemite National Park for my honeymoon, and it was beautiful!

Whoa, didn't know people from Flordia knew about Calguns, yes I am, I'm docsmileyface over there, right now I'm in Qayarrah, Iraq with Stormfeather but when I get home I'm getting out of there and moving up to Oregon, can't stand being brown places anymore...

If you look up posts by me you can see the COD4 M4gery I put together for my wife.

So Christmas came a day early for me. My neighbor recently got a new wife who hates guns so he had to get rid of his firearms. Long story short he decided to give them to me. :P

I was happy to say the least, I would never turn down a free gun no matter what it is.

No, I dont. Wish I did. Planning on going for my license allong with a friend of mine who works in delivery services driving armored trucks - the job literaly encourages their employees to be armed.

On another topic, I had heard something about Obama trying to outlaw civilian ownership of firearms, or at least severly limit the types of guns your allowed to own. Has anyone else in the US heard about this?

Yes, after he was elected his website was updated that stated he support reinstating the "assault" weapons ban.

The catch here is that the people making these laws have no clue what an "assault" weapon really is and are trying to ban pretty much any rifle that looks like a military rifle or holds over 10 rounds.

I will save my speech as most do not want to hear my paranoid hillbilly rant on the government taking our guns. If you are really curious about what it all details ill pull up some articles for you on the original AWB and what the new one might involve.

It is still to early to tell exactly what will happen, some think they will try to ban em quick so that it puts distance between the law going into action and next election.

Others think Obama has bigger fish to fry and will focus on the economy first.

One thing is for sure and that is Obama has been this years biggest gun salesmen. Some of the big names in AR-15s are currently a few months behind on some products due to the demand.

It doesn't really matter if the civilians of the US have assault rifles or not, because no one has the kind of technology or organized military that the government already has.

For example, a heat ray. This heat ray can be focused on a large crowd of people and cause everyone in the crowd to feel the excruciating pain of their skin being "on fire" without doing any real damage to tissue.

You say you want a revolution, well, you know...

I agree it does not matter but not for the reason you are saying. A well aimed bullet from a rifle made 30 years ago will kill just as easily as a bullet from an automatic state of the art military grade weapon.

The issue here being the people making these laws are fucking stupid and in all likelihood have never fired a gun in their entire life.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rGpykAX1fo That video really does cheer me up on foul days.

Anyways we have beat this horse to death in the uzi thread. Lets not derail this one with politics. Everything we are discussing right now has already been said in there, if you want to add anything throw it in there and ill respond to it.

lol... well - You say you'll change the constitution...

Seriously. It feels like they're looking for loopholes in the 2nd ammendment.

But yeah I'll leave it at that, sorry to bring politics into it, i was just curious about that.

As a US Citizen, I am not too worried about major changes in gun control, as we have Iraq and the mortgage industry collapse to worry about first, let alone the fact that a substantial portion of the Democratic Party can attribute their victory in formerly conservative states to, among other things, a commitment to the second amendment. I'll be more worried if the Obama administration gets a second term and does not have to be concerned with the political capital expended to push an executive order through.

I'm not anybody's nanny, but things tend to go drastically awry when we start talking about guns and politics around here. There is a thread on gun control, where folks have made their arguments pro and con, and little has come of it either way. This is more of a firearms appreciation thread, and my favorite on NMA.

An old picture when I still had room on my tool board:

Sorry it's been a while. I am back out for work and able to check in a little less frequently then before. I got the HK around 1996 or 1997. At the time, I think it was just under a grand or so. The last time I looked it up, a true Match ran about $1600 or so used. However, I was never a kid who could leave his toys in the package, and I have used this gun and used it hard, so it would probably fetch a bit less if I were to ever sell it. Which I won't. Ever.
