The Guns and Ammo Thread

This is what I love/hate about gun ownership in different states. You have places like california and New York and New Jersey that are just aboslutely retarded things, and the you have places like Alaska and texas where the only requirements to own a gun is to have the money to buy a gun.

Do you need to have a licence for it? Does the maintaining of th elicence cost money?
As far as I know, you don't need a license in my state to own a firearm, but you need to pay a fee if you want a concealed pistol carry permit. (Plus they fingerprint you.) They will run a background check to make sure you're not a felon, though, before selling you a firearm ... the law-abiding vendors will, anyway.

Ok. Over here you need to have the licence, membership in gun club and also a special lockable metal gun cabinet to keep your guns safe from robbers. So quite a lot of regulations and costs.

You know, all people have equal rights. Except if you live in California, NY, Jersey (and Massachusetts?).

I seen a cheap handgun, it is $95. But if I wanna buy it, I must take a guncourse and I must pay money for different permits and license. If I want that $95 revolver, I must pay $255 for a piece of paper. Great law. I have a long gun, but I can't but a stupid little revolver. Makes no sense.

Thats not much for a "revolver".... what kind is it? the only revolver I remember seeing in that range was a Nagant but that was more than 10 years ago. Most US made guns cost a bit more than that. Gone are the days of the $150 Makarovs and $199 bulgarian Hi-Powers <sigh>

Yes, it was an old Russian revolver.

The Hi-Point pistols are cheap, but bad. The Hi-Point carabine gets good reviews though. :)

Plenty of saturday night specials in the 100$ range.

And yes, a Nagant is a mechanical marvel, and with a minimal of work can actually be given a rather good trigger (as hard as that is to believe).

Hi-Points are a joke. The carbines are supposed to be quite nice other than using Hi-point mags.

Colt .45, .44 Magnum, .50 Desert Eagle AE

Which one, which one, and hahahahahahahahahahahahha. (and it'd be .50AE)

I hope you did not think I was advocating Hi-point anything... I was talking about Bulgarian made (Miltex Label) Browning Hi-Power clones (model name was ARCUS) . They retailed for $199 way back when.

It's a better club than a gun, and there are far cheaper clubs.

Which revolver? All Colt .45 means is that the gun is a) made by colt && in a .45 caliber or B) fires some .45 caliber bullet that is made by colt (or designed, etc).

The Desert Eagle pistols only suck because of movies & games.
Sure, they're a penis enlarger, but in .44Mag or .357Mag they actually make a nice range gun. They also use an interesting gas system.

It's only the douchebags that make it retarded.

Unfortunately I don't own any guns at the moment, but I have developed a strong interest in guns in the last few years.

The own gun I ever really shot was the single shot .410 my dad bought me for Christmas when I was 14, which I've been meaning to get from my grandfather (dad isn't legally allowed to own guns anymore).

I've also wanted to get a handgun ever since my psychologist let me hold his Ruger, He also invited me to a gun show, hopefully when he finds the time he can go with me and help me pick out a gun, though I will probably holdout on the handgun for a while and get a .22 instead.

Also if anybody can recommend a bolt action .22lr for under $200 I really appreciate it.

Interesting in theory. They're ultimately little more than range guns, which is part of why they suck that they're in .44 or .357 (expensive ammo + only ammo capable of cycling the pistol).

but to be honest if I had the cash I'd get a pair and deck them out Boondock Saints 2 style.

Yes, really.
My dad was convicted of raping his girlfriend, I don't know if it's true, he claims she was lying and the couple times I meet her is did seem unhinged so I wouldn't put it pass her, though it's not any of my concern really, I only see him during Christmas and he stays away from her now.

As for my psychologist, me and him are pretty much friends. We were talking about guns and I guess he was impress with how much I actually knew, So he asked me if I ever held one before, then he when and got his gun, he gave me a lesson in gun safety and gave me a overview of the gun, then he let me hold it for awhile even dry fire a couple of times, I also mentioned before hand that I was think of get a gun so he said me and him should go to a gun show some time.
